Very quick, solid work for both insulation top up in attic and skylight replacement. One of the few companies willing to install a skylight without doing a full roof reshingling during their busy season. Quote was very comprehensive and reasonable. Overall very happy!

This is the second time that we have used Kovar Contracting.

Back in 2012 it was for our roof and this time to have eavestroughs replaced and a old shed re-shingled.

Kovar did the work in a timely and professional manner. High quality work and they cleaned up the site well. Jason was extremely responsive from initial contact to completion. We were pleased that they were able to squeeze us in earlier than originally scheduled because we had some minor leaking from the old roof.

The problem was a mini ice field on the roof, ice wall from the roof to the ground floor on the external brick, ice stalagmites With matching icicles extending just past the 2nd fl window sill, my garage door froze shut in 6 inches of ice. Summer it was waterfalls and cowboy showers. Kovar was the 3rd contractor I called for an estimate and the only one that send multiple professionals to assess the overall contributing factors. This resulted in a multi-tiered solution which directly addressed the issues identified by their team. They identified a flaw in the shingle edging (the waterfall) needing a custom drip edge, the roof downspout pours on the garage roof shingles not into the trough (cowboy shower) in the water diverter needed replacing so water no longer pools (ice wall), inferior roof r factor (ice field), and bathroom venting under the soffit (giant icicles). Before calling Kovar, it was a rip n replace the gutters job as recommended by the 1st two contractors turned into a mini project! Each team Jason sent did a stellar job, identified issues hands on and discussed them thoroughly with me. More importantly, how each step is related into the overall solution. I now have an r60 factor, new bathroom vent on the roof and resealed everything else up there. The 2nd part of the project hasn’t commenced as of this writing; however, I’m very confident in the drip edging, diverter and new downspouts will complete the solution. What speaks for itself is I never needed to rip n replace to begin with This speaks for itself frankly.

I’m old school, and Kovar satisfied that. I won’t be missing those cowboy showers!

I contacted Kovar about 2 skylights on my property that were beginning to show their age - 1 was leaking and the other was causing the formation of a huge ice dam around it. Jason took his time to answer my questions and provided me promptly with a quote for the work. He was readily available to discuss other questions and explained the details thoroughly. We opted to get Snow Load skylights to help limit the heat transfer through the glass itself. Kevin and Chuck completed the work over the course of 2 days, and were clean and respectful. The one negative I would state is that a check of the product (one of the 2 skylights) about to be installed on my house was not completed - in fact, the supplier had provided them with the incorrect skylight (less energy efficient), and had I not checked myself, it would have been installed despite it being the wrong one. I understand this is something the supplier did wrong (and not Kovar) but it would have been nice if they had checked as well. Overall, happy with the results and hoping that the new skylights (plus improved attic/tunnel insulation completed by a separate contractor) will help reduce the ice dam formation.
