Rental Hot Water Tank

Rental hot water tank installed 2017. Stopped working today July 29. Called 24 hour service line @ 4:50 pm called again at 8:50 pm, will have to wait till tomorrow to have hot water. Garbage !

Furance & Hot Water Tank

Please go look at this company's many poor reviews below, and on the Better Business Bureau before committing to anything.

I purchased a home in early 2018 that was in very poor living condition and was ultimately torn down and replaced with a new house. I inherited the hot water tank and furnace contract from the previous owner who spoke very little English. When he was contacted by his real estate agent he said that he did not understand what he signed up for and that he felt he was taken advantage of because of his language barrier.

The Marathon Rheem hot water tank that was in that house did not work properly and goes for about $1000 at Home Depot. It was a 50 gallon unit and was way too big for that house.

The furnace was a very small Keeprite unit that can be had for less than $1000.

For over two years I have been fighting to be released from this contract and have been told that the only option is to buy the equipment out at over $11,000. That is 500% more than the value of what was put in the old (not even) 1000 square foot house. I could have purchased this equipment on my credit card and made half the payment of my current monthly Sandpiper charge and paid it off faster and for much less.

I have been making monthly payments to an account that for some reason only goes towards the furnace and does not go towards the hot water tank. They cannot figure it out and always call to tell me that the hot water tank is in arrears and they are sending me to collections.

Sandpiper has not been emailing me or mailing me invoices like they say they do and they can't figure that out either.

The moment you are late on a payment you get called relentlessly and are threatened by them to be sent to a 3rd party for collections.

I have never ever dealt with a company that acted like such a bully and did not care to negotiate or resolve anything.

It is no wonder that their CEO has a BILLION dollars in assets, and although he might be self-made he has ripped off many Canadians along the way.

All I want is to be taken out of this contract with a reasonable buyout.

Boiler

I have assumed a rental agreement from the sellers of my new property. The monthly fees are way more expensive than both of their major competitors. Over $50 per month for boiler rental!?! That is insane! 3 Weeks ago I reached out to ask to speak with someone to negotiate a more reasonable monthly rate. After emailing again today I was told "Any dispute of the rental rate would need to be addressed with the previous homeowner" or "If you would like to terminate the rental water heater a Buyout Invoice will be sent to you" I have asked for a copy of the contract to see if there are other options. So far no response. I feel as if they are not taking responsibility for their product or validating my concerns as a customer. I dread to think what their response times are in an emergency. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for your boiler. Very disappointed.

Terrible

Terrible company. I've been dealing with them for years & way overdue to filing a bbb complaint & really any other consumer complaint I can. Installed the system under false pretenses + continued unresolved billing issues for rented units. They sent me to collections twice & when I've shared my facts, collections leave me alone & kick it back to them because they are in the wrong. Ridiculous. Trying all I can to get out of this mess!

Mini split ductless heat pump

heat pump rental in March 2015--worse customer service ever--non responsive -too many different people -no follow up on complaints --billing system is false & inaccurate-constantly changing the monthly amount--- --sending out statements stating money is owed when it isn't and proven by accurate customer record-escalated to management & issue still not resolved--wont service a nonworking heat pump as they claimed NSF payments even when my bank records sent to them should none--had pump removed from house & requested direction as what to do with it and still no response--this company is useless--poor customer service and accountability/billing system

Water heater rental

This company took over from my original provider. When my unit stopped working, they claimed that I was no longer under contract and I needed to upgrade to a more expensive unit and start a new contract or close my account for 70$. Instead, they kept taking money out of my credit card which luckily expired 2 months later. I called them and the agent recognized that it was an error and the account should have been closed. 6 months later, I was getting collection calls and whenever I would speak to their account receivable, they will accept that they made a mistake and the collection calls will start again. It's been 3 years that I am trying to settle this matter but you can never talk to them. You can only speak to some third party charged to do their collection business.
Anyone out there, Do NOT do business with these guys. Find a serious company

Buyout Impossible, Horrible Company

Will not allow me to buy out an insufficient, small, luke warm, electric water heater except at 3x the cost of buying the same unit. The contract expires in 1.5 years (end of 10 year term). Customer service is useless and non-responsive. Will not even show me the contract that they say I am governed by.

I have marked in my calendar to send cancellation emails/phone calls every day starting 9 months prior to the termination date. They are the worst Company I have ever dealt with by far.

Water heater rental

I’ve call twice to have someone come to my apartment, I’ve been told twice that I have been bumped to top priority and someone will call. Even though this tank is not working and leaking in my basement, still No one has called, how long does it take to call a service man, I know I can do it in a matter of minutes and have someone there. I thought I was renting a heater to have less hassle. What poor service, I’m not sure where the 24/7 service comes into play.

AVOID Sandpiper - Buyer Beware: Exorbitant Buyout Contracts

We purchased a home with a rental hot water tank from Sandpiper. Despite our 'contract' being almost 5 years in, and despite never seeing an actual contract from this company, they are charging us an outrageous fee to buy out our contract (as we switch to Natural Gas). Every person I've spoken with at this company says the same thing: "there's nothing we can do". The situation has been escalated to headquarters but I've heard nothing back and don't expect I will. This company does not understand that consumers have rights, and like others I will tell everyone I know to avoid them like the plague.

I made a final payment on my water tank 1 year later Sandpiper calls for verification. This happened to me twice on 2 separate tanks at 2 different properties. Is this your business model?
