Windows By Installer

We had several windows that looked like they needed to be replaced due to rotting sills and sashes. I looked through Homestars and found Window by installer. They came out and explained that they had the ability to match all the existing sashes and sills to the exact style as the existing windows. The estimator looked over every window and showed me how to caulk and repaint windows that did not need to be reworked. Then he gave me an estimate on the work that needed to be done. I was surprised to find out that they could save all the windows in our entire house for the price of 1 single replacement window. They scheduled the appointment and showed up right on time. The workers were very professional and took great care to keep our house clean and "bundled up" since it was the middle of the winter. They finished the work in 1 day and did an amazing job. I highly recommend Window by installer to anybody that would like to have their windows brought back to factory new for a fraction of the price of replacements.

The job took 2 1/2 days to complete. Installers Alex, Oleg and Dave were very professional and knowledgeable in what they were doing. They protected everything inside and outside and cleaned up afterwards. Steve, the owner and my salesperson, had all of the interior trim board and jam extensions delivered early so I could paint them before they were installed after the windows went in to make my "repainting" easier since I'm also doing a total interior colour remodel. Steve also worked with me on a simple and inexpensive solution for 4 of my middle windows that didn't have screens because they didn't open but looked different from the outside when my existing blinds were lowered. I was so happy with my total experience, I've already ordered a set of sliding doors going to my deck.

Initially I had some major problems with this company, but the owner, Alex called and offered to give me the windows free of charge to make things right. When he came to the house, after introducing himself to me, he introduced himself to my children, which they loved. Alex was very apologetic and was quite sincere in wanting to fix the situation. Although I had issues in the beginning, I would recommend Alex for the job.

Initially, Steve came to our house to get rough estimates of the window sizes. When we were ready for a more accurate quote my husband and I went to WBI showroom. There Steve went over the options and his recommendation based on what we said we wanted. His estimate came in at the mid-point of other estimates we had gotten. The product was of the quality we wanted, without overbuilding our working-class neighborhood. He left us with a detailed contract to sign, including an estimate of the date for installation. We were not pressured to purchase that day, nor did we feel overly pressured to buy, and we appreciated that.
Originally we were told it would take about 6 weeks for the windows to be made and delivered. It turned out to be about 4 weeks. Steve called to schedule installation. He thought it would take one full day, maybe part of a second day. It turned out to take nearly two full days. The two men who came to install the windows were professional, and seemed skilled and knowledgeable about the installation. Our old house gave them a few hurdles, which they overcame without too much trouble. They laid down canvas and plastic to protect our floors and furniture, and were careful of our belongings. They repaired the few nicks created in the window openings, and offered to paint the patches. They even took down and re-installed the blinds that were on each window. They cleaned up after themselves, both inside and out.
I'm very happy with the windows' appearance, inside and out, and with their function! No more drafty windows, stuck windows, or broken screens!

I called Windows By Installer to schedule an appointment based on their HomeStars rating. The price was decent and the installation was done fine, however the installer ripped out the basement window frame and left it in pieces in the basement, so there is only exposed concrete where there used to be a very nice frame. Overall I'm satisfied with the work, but a few things could have been better.

Installation took 4-5 hours. In house worker took shoes off immediately when asked. In house was left very clean. Little to no painting was required. The Windows City windows are solid and look great. The outside look was very nice. They seemed to seal everything well. A few days after installation we noticed an imperfection in the glass on one of the windows. My wife called and they immediately said they would order a replacement glass piece for it. We will go back to Windows by Installer next year to do the front half of the house's windows.

After getting prices for replacement windows from 3 different sources we chose Wbi because we thought they offered the best value even though they were not the least expensive bid. The windows were ordered and a few weeks later they were installed over the course of two days right on schedule. The workmen were very friendly and professional and cleaned up the work site when they were done. Steven, the salesman came by afterwards and we walked around and checked every window. There were two windows that I was not pleased with the caulking and he made note and they were out within a few days to take care of them. Now that the windows have been in for a couple of months I just wanted to report that I am very pleased with not only the company but also the quality of the windows. With cold weather we are saving on energy compared to our old windows and they have improved the appearance of our house considerably. I cannot rate this company or the windows they installed highly enough.

After much research on window brands, companies and their installers I chose Window by Installer. Alex was my sales person who made several trips to my house and we emailed back and forth before I made a choice of windows and timing was important as well. Alex was great to work with. He listened to my concerns, answered all my questions and guided me through the process of choosing the windows best for me.
The timing was right on with ordering the windows and installation. The installation crew was friendly and answered more questions. They were serious and focused with the installation paying attention to detail and being careful with white furniture and Asian antiques. They were very neat and when they were finished they made sure everything was cleaned. Alex showed up on the day of the install to make certain everything was going as promised.
Can't think of a better recommendation then to say they will be replacing the remaining 7 windows next year!

First of all, Steve, one of the owners, was great throughout the process and stopped in everyday to check on the work. Oleg, the crew "chief" of 3 installers was engaging, informative, and, importantly, productive. We had some ant damage on a trim board which was replaced, two areas of drywall damage that emerged as the crew did their work, was pointed out and nicely patched and some fair advice as to when to return our blinds and shades to their original position post installation.
Crew came about 8:30 AM, left about 3 PM. We need to do some touch up painting outside, but that's on us not Window by Installer. At this very early juncture, our new windows look great, operate as promised and we look forward to years of trouble free service.

The salesman, Alex, was very professional and discussed our options at length...NO PRESSURE SALES. We were looking for a well established company with an experienced installation crew. When buying windows 50% is the quality of the product and 50% is the quality of the workmanship of installation. Window by Instller exceeded my expectations for both. After much research on window brands, companies and their installers I chose this company because they use their own crews no subcontractors. This company has a good crew. I've already had Alex back to quote me on more windows to be replaced in the spring. I Highly recommend these guys.
