alarm system installation

Alarm Force responded quickly to my request for a system. They arrived on time, provided good advice, did not try to up sell me on products that I didn't need.

Alarm Force Home Security Monitoring

I signed up for a three year contract with Alarm Force with the understanding that I could break the contract and return the equipment I paid for with a minimal fee (approximately $500 worth for the cellular service, extra motion sensor, keyfob, door sensors, etc). One year into the three year contract I contacted AlarmForce to cancel and they said they do not allow cancellations. I would have to pay the remaining 24 months of service despite having no more service when I move. I asked to speak to a manager and was transferred to a voicemail box. Buyer beware.

Alarm Force Equpiment

We lost everything in our business in the Alberta Flood. Alarm Force was the only company that insisted on charging us for the lost equipment. They graciously reduced the bill to $297.00. We had equipment from other suppliers that was worth thousands of dollars and everyone else was sympathetic and we were not charged anything. I explained many times how our insurance wasn't covering us and the Alberta a Disaster Recovery program wasn't either. This company is heartless and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!! Deal with someone who cares and stay far far away from this heartless corporation!!

Home Monitoring

My last home was protected by another service provider - an integrated burglar and fire / carbon monoxide detection system. When I moved into my new house, I decided to give Alarm Force a shot. I purchased an extra keypad for the garage door and added some motion detectors and signed up for a multi year contract (my mistake).

What I didn't consider at the time was the need to integrate smoke detectors (it was included in my previous house). I called Alarm Force after and they said there's no way to incorporate the existing smoke / carbon system into their monitored system, and that I'd have to buy theirs. They quoted me an unbelievably high price - it would have nearly doubled my total cost for the 3 year contract that signed up for. Also, I want to comment on their disappointing design of the keypad. There is no "Status" display other than a light that stays on for a couple of seconds when you arm or disarm it. A permanent status display would would be very helpful so you could simply look at the keypad and know if the alarm is set or not. We already have had 2 false alarms because I opened the door to let the dog out when the alarm was set to "HOME". Would it have been too hard to have a small LED to show the status - with a "Light" button to see it at night? The customer service rep said that since it was battery operated, they couldn't do that without killing the battery frequently... I looked down at my LED watch and wondered how it could display the time constantly and I haven't changed my watch battery in two years...

Overall, I think their 2-way protection is a good idea, and Alarm Force has a good market strategy... but I think they need some work on their product (and their customer service - which was disingenuous at best).

Security System

We used Alarm Force for the past 6 years with relatively problem free service and ran into a snag not too long ago. The alarm would randomly get triggered resulting in a call from Alarm Force while we were at work. Obviously, this became problematic as we could not be sure if there was an invader in our house or if the alarm was malfunctioning again.
Upon contacting Alarm Force, they said tech support would get back to us. A call came 3 days later and an appointment was booked. On the day of the appointment, my husband and I were both at home but the technician failed to show up. After several follow up calls, it became clear to us that Alarm Force was not interested in resolving our problem. In the end, we were with out reliable service for 3 weeks and we decided to look elsewhere for a security system. Upon requesting a refund for the 3 weeks, I was told they would provide a refund only if we remained customers. Pretty much - even though we didn't receive the service we were paying for- we are not entitled to a refund. Not only that, they charged us for the following month as well. Just today, after being assured we would not get charged for the technician who didn't show up, we got a bill for " missing our appointment".

Needless to say, we are looking for an another security service provider and would not recommend Alarm Force to anyone.

Alarmforce monitor

Never worked when I was there. No serviceman could come when I was going to be there. A $50.00 charge fee to cancel and have it picked up! It needs to have service and he would have to come anyway. Paid for almost three years and 1/2 the time it was not working. Really disatisfied. Check the many recorded calls.

Alarm Force system

I live on Vancouver Island. Have had Alarm Force for 4 years now. We replace the batteries in the sensor components every year. Had great difficulty last year with door sensor and after many calls to Alarm Force "support" was finally able to do it myself. This year, the component is simply not holding the batteries. The metal spring is worn. I called and asked for a service person to come and replace it on Sept. 30th. and was told that the earliest I could get help was Oct. 24th! The service rep lives 1/2 hour from our home. When I mentioned that I would now be without this sensor, the comment was " It's only the front door." I am very disappointed in the in-home service we have received. This is not the first time we have had to wait for a very long time for service. We like the product and also use the Personal Alarm system, so in fact we are paying for two of their products. The other issue I have is that our house insurance has us listed as having an alarm system. Wonder what would happen if they break in through the front door!

Cancellation- Terrible Customer Service

Spoke with Loyalty Rep, who asked for letter, provided letter to cancel, said will be charged if equipment not return by 15th. Today is the 3rd of October and I was charged again? Michael , who was rude and condescending, would not listen. Then started to read the letter to me??? What I can not read? Really- why are you trying to patronized me, and told me no manager can take my call because he did not validate account without the personal ID,- Are you kidding me. Waiting on a call back from a Manager. Product is ok, but Customer Service is Horrible.

Surveillance Camera

I put a camera up on my garage after it was broken into. The camera was a deterrent for a while but no longer. My experience has been that the picture quality is too poor to recognize people even when they look at the camera in the daytime. Signing on to the server to see the events rarely works. My email notification works but the pictures at 8 kb are poor. My camera often goes offline and is a real pain to get going again, and it has been summer since I installed it. I am worried about how the winter will affect this product.

Alarm

Pretty decent service, am satisfied with the job the alarm and sensors do for my house. I would like if the alarm actually made some noise to warn when a door is being opened since i frequently set the alarm off on myself.
