Beware of price games

I went in store on two different occasions (months apart) with price quote from web. Was told must be US site. Brought picture to prove was Canadian site in Canadian $. Diff prices on web than in store. Also, after I spent and paid $4500 wouldn't give me a break on overpriced $54 piece of 6 foot trim. This really ticked me off.

Hardwood for 4 bedrooms

We searched around a fair bit for the hardwood we wanted to update our 4 upstairs bedrooms (about 900 square feet) from carpet to hardwood. We went to the Dundas Street in Mississauga location several times to talk with the folks there. Andrew, the main person we dealt with, was fabulous for ideas and very flexible on pricing, delivery, pick up for the trim, and more. Very satisfied with the service and the pricing, and will go back to them for future needs.

Flooring purchase

This review relates to their Mississauga location. We went a couple of times to make our decision and I would have to say that their service was superb. The gave us tons of advice, recommendations and help to understand different products. They knew, right from their system, the level of inventory for all products (you may be surprised how many flooring retailers have no clue about inventory and availability). The product we bought was laminate made in the USA, so quality was not an issue. Their pricing (when on special) is really good. Delivery was not free. Overall, I would highly recommend the Lumber Liquidator Mississauga store.

hardwood flooring

We needed to replace cork flooring that was damaged, and, as many do, we went to a local big name home improvement store. After choosing a product, we were told we would be contacted within a week for someone to come and take measurements. When he did arrive, this person made numerous suggestions, each one of which involved additional cost, and left me to decide how good a job I was willing to pay for.
Fortunately, in spite of having paid for this visit, we decided to see what Lumber Liquidators had to offer. After asking us several questions to best determine our needs, we were offered a top quality hardwood product instead of the laminate we were going to purchase from the big box store. At Lumber Liquidators, this was now an affordable consideration, much to our surprise. The home visit to verify measurements and confirm installation costs was done the very next day. This time I did not have to ask questions and determine where I would have to compromise. I was informed by this knowledgeable professional what they do to provide for a perfect end result. Now I had complete confidence that we were dealing with the right people.
In less time than it took to simply have a measurement arranged at the first store, our new floors were installed and the job completed.
The total cost was exactly one third less than we almost spent elsewhere, for an unquestionably superior product, professional and timely installation, and expert advice.
Our new flooring looks beautiful, my wife loves it, and I feel like a hero. Okay, actually the real heroes are their staff.

Hardwood flooring

DO NOT SHOP AT LUMBER LIQUIDATORS!
I purchased 200 sq. ft. of hardwood flooring based on a sample. Unfortunately, you cannot open the boxes to inspect the flooring, as once opened the boxes cannot be returned. My order did not match the sample. Before purchasing I asked about installers and I was given 2 business cards of contractors; however, when I contacted them they were not interested because the job was too small. I spoke to the store manager about this and received no assistance. The colour match is normal and to find my own installers. This company is only interested in selling but with no customer service.

Terrible customer service - NO customer service!

Bought a bamboo kitchen floor from Lumber Liquidators in Stoney Creek. Love the bamboo but hate the service from L.L. There is no service! The floor was installed 2 years ago and was installed badly (they had recommended the installer and I booked it through the Stoney Creek store). The floor joints are now all parting. I have phoned the company many, many, many times and am still trying to get this problem sorted. I have sent in a report to the USA head office (2 years ago!) and nothing - been in contact with at least 7 different staff members from Mississauga and Stoney Creek. They all appear to have left the company - I wonder why??? Had an independent installer out to look at the floor (he works in conjunction with L.L. when they request it). he has been here twice and twice told me the floor has been badly installed and needs ripping up and replacing. He was here 3 weeks ago and said it should be replaced and he could do the work in August but the boards need to aclimatise for a couple of weeks before he can lay them. I contacted L.L. last Monday and the manager assured me he would personally call me back that day and sort this out. To-day, a week later, I phoned for him again as he did not call me back and to-day he is off. So now I wait until tomorrow and continue this fight. They are happy to sell you to product but they don't want to know if there are any problems. I would never, never, never purchase anything from L.L. again. I have learnt my lesson the hard way. They are a very unreliable company and have problems telling the truth. Buyer beware!!!

Product

Never buy from Lumber Liquidators, after watching our News and 20/20 about the levels in the Formaldehyde in the floor I just installed in my house. I called the company and they said they are sending out test kits to test your floor, I gave them all my information, weeks later I call and told them I never received my kit. They now told me that I live in Canada and they don't have to test our floors because Canada doesn't have the same regulations as the USA. They also told me I should have known that my floors were from China. I have many emails to back up my story. Please don't buy from this company.

Flooring

75% of installed product from Lumber Liquidators is Defective!
• July 31, 2014; we bought hardwood flooring from Lumber Liquidators in Mississauga (Ontario, Canada) the brand is ( Golden Teak Acacia Hardwood 3/4'”) , Order # 123718873 , with 30-year warranty, we based our decision to purchase the hardwood on certain samples at retail store showroom, which we examined before committing ourselves to the purchase.

• After acclimated the product at our house for more than 5 months and used a moisture barrier, which they are selling to keep our warranty valid. We also followed all manufacturer regulations and recommendations.
Unfortunately, during installation and reached of 85% of the process, we noticed there were some defecates mostly at the ends of the boards, which is more than the expected 5% range that our invoice mentioned when we bout the flooring.

• Jan 2015; We informed LL about the flooring issue and filled disclosure forms, the store manager came out to the site to view the floor and he requested to get everything on hold, acknowledged there was a defect (in this patch) of product, and the arrangements were made to ship samples and box of unopened material to the head office in Virginia, USA for inspection.

• LL’s acts of fraudulent concealment, using improper warranty tactics and commissioning sham inspection from INSPECT SOLUTIONS to our flooring in response to complaints in order to "mislead consumers into believing that the defect could be traced to shoddy installation," and to exonerate Lumber Liquidators from any responsibility.

• LL markets and warrants that the Product is durable and further markets and warrants that the Product has a thirty (30) year warranty. LL provided a reasonable expectation to consumers and the industry that the Product would have a usable lifetime of at least thirty (30) years. The Product’s various modes of failure potentially cause damage to other building components and render the Product susceptible to premature failure.

• LL did not honor its warranty and denial our claim. It's amazing to us that a company is so adamant about taking no responsibility for such a poor product (75% defect) which is marketed to be "durable" with 30 years warranty, but it seems there is no quality control had been done at all for this product before wrapping and delivery.

• We had to hire 3rd party independent inspector licensed by National Wood and Flooring Association ( NWFA), he mentioned the mill actually attempted to fuse cracks with glue and then fill them with putty, the manufacturer did this intentionally. His conclusion is (Manufacturing Defects).

• LL has been notified of its breach of written warranties and has failed to adequately cure those breaches. As a direct and proximate result of Defendant’s breaches of its written warranties, engaged in unlawful business practices in that Defendant represented, through its advertising, warranties and other express representations that the Product had characteristics it did not actually have. We are requiring LL to compensation for financial losses associated with the purchase of the flooring. These losses include:
• Installation costs
• Removal costs
• Loss of use
• Diminished property value
• Remediation costs

estimate for measuring floor for heated floor

I had to pay for them to come to measure my floor but when he came in the door he said my floor was not level and that it would not work so he did not measure. I called LL in Cambridge to request my payment back but they do not call back.

New hardwood flooring, 710 sq.ft

They came recommended by the contractor doing the renovation at our rental unit. Great prices and flooring, BUT delivery charges were excessive!! $225.00 to deliver, because they had to walk up a flight of stairs (15 steps folks) Would I go there again to purchase? Definitely, cannot beat $3.88 a sq. ft. for hardwood flooring.
