After visiting several garage door companies, we found The Garage Door Depot to be ideal - great, friendly and very helpful staff, competitive prices, and as it turned out, superb workmanship!
We are very pleased with our new Garaga garage door (a top-of-the-line brand), the new lift motor, the truly excellent aluminum capping on the door frame, plus the custom capping work the Garage Door Depot agreed to do - capping the wooden arches over two of our home's windows.
Great staff, fair prices, first-rate work!

I just registered at Homestars so that I could write a review about Garage Door Depot. Both the people I spoke to on the phone and Nick, my serviceman, were friendly and seemed genuine about getting my door fixed not just promptly, but properly. Nick came within the 2 hour window and was very efficient with changing the broken torsion springs, but slowed down when fine tuning (leveling my garage door, adjusting the speed and force of lift, etc.) and making sure the door was lifting and lowering to its proper positions. Being a DIYer, I really appreciated him educating me on why the spring broke, and how he was honest in being unable to seal up the gap between the garage door and ground on either ends of the door (the concrete ground is sinking on both sides, and he pointed to the crack down the middle as evidence). My only wish was that Nick could have lubed the moving parts of the door before he left, as I had read up on other companies doing this. After paying for the service, I was surprised at the cost per torsion spring ($128 each) and out of curiosity, called the company a second time to get a quote on just the parts (a great benefit of this company since they're willing to provide you a quote over the phone, first!). I was told the springs cost $90 each to replace, and thus was saddened to discover I may had been fleeced. I was informed larger springs would cost more, though, and was pleasantly surprised when Kathleen from customer service suggested she would look at the paperwork the following day to see if there really was a discrepancy in price for the particular parts installed (I myself would suspect torsion springs to differ in price based on quality or size), and even offered to refund me the difference were one to be found. The price for the work seemed fair and Nick did state these were commercial-grade springs (should last 10+ years), so I'm sure that no difference would be found (perfectly fine to me, since this would then seem like a fair price for the quality parts). I can honestly say I'm very happy with Nick's work (friendly, cheerful, and efficient guy!) and the customer service at Garage Door Depot. Hopefully my garage door continues to function well, and if the torsion spring sure enough lasts the 10+ years I was told it would, then I know who to go back to for more repairs.

I called to inquire about service. They made the appointment giving me a 2 hour window the same day. The technician was very helpful , phoned to secure the parts required from the office. Before leaving the technician made an appointment for me for the next morning with again a 2 hour window of when they would arrive. Today the technician showed up on time, completed the repair quickly and reviewed with me the work that he preformed. I was very impressed with both Service Technicians and the office that was supporting them. A job well done!

I had experienced several rip offs by a garage door company in Toronto .who are now bankrupt. They were featured on CBC showing how they ripped off many customers.
I found the Garage Door Depot asked them to replace the whole mechanism on one of my garage doors.. They inspected the door opener (Lift Master )and said I only needed a part replacement costing less than $ 100 Instead of the $400 for replacing the whole unit .
They did a thorough inspection-- made some other adjustments--this door now works better and quieter than it has in the last 10 years .;
I now have a company that is very professional---only fixes what is necessary and is very reasonable in terms of cost---IT IS CALLED HONESTY . .
These people are terrific .A warning the other company called Pro Master has apparently resurfaced with different numbers and names --be very careful to avoid them--they almost tricked me again---but I found Garage Door Depot ---do not go anywhere else . Howat Noble

The service from The Garage Door Depot was excellent from start to finish.
The office staff was friendly every time we called. The representative arrived on time and was very knowledgeable and professional. The door was installed quickly and neatly and on schedule. Excellent all around!!!

Dear Rob and The Garage Door Depot,
I hope things are well. Kim and I managed to get away for a few days just to Phoenix and well the return was not impressive with all the cold weather and snow, the garage door we returned to on our house was and still is impressive and continues to make us both smile.

The door looks fantastic guys, both Kim and I are very happy with it and the staining, although we felt stressful at the time as we didn't want do any irreversible damage, turned out very well. I must say with all the work we have had completed at the house over the summer, your employees rank miles above the other vendors. The door (work) was done within the time you anticipated, the job was done well, and everything was cleaned up following the install. Little things like the Starbucks gift cards afterwards are also a nice touch which continues to leave an impression.

I used the Garage Door Depot for the second time now in Scarborough. Their pricing is very competitive, and their garage door quality is very good. They are very professional to deal with, you always get a written quote with no pressure to buy anything from them. They show up for installation on time and the finished product is quite impressive. Customer Service is outstanding as well. I would recommend them to anyone looking to install a garage door.

From the time it took for an on-site estimate to the installation (first installation day) was almost 2 months. This seemed really long to me, but I accepted it as it was said to be a busy time of year for garage door installations.

The process on getting a set date for installation was a bit frustrating, as the first suggested date did not work. Therefore, I had asked if the following week was available, which they said yes, and I was booked in for the following week Friday. On the Tuesday of the week of installation, I received a call asking if the next week would work for installation instead of the date that was booked. The appointment was booked 3.5 weeks in advance, and I had made arrangements to be available during that time. Needless to say, changing it did not work. I felt this was disorganized and not acceptable to call 3 days prior asking to move it, stating they were over booked and didn't want to pay their people overtime. I was insistent that the installation date had to remain. They honored it and came out on the day and time previously booked.
After 3 hours of installing, I was told that they didn't have a roller, and couldn't complete the installation. The door was installed but the opener couldn't be without that part. We booked another time for Monday early evening for them to come back and finish. Then when they came to finish it, there was a bend in the bracket, so the installation of the opener couldn't be completed. I was asked when they could come back to complete the installation, stating I didn't need to be there for them to complete it. However, I wanted to be there for assistance with setting my vehicle garage door buttons to be programmed, as I'd had difficulties with that in the past and wanted help from the experts.

I was told they could come back the next day (Tuesday) during the day to complete the installation but then would come back again on Wednesday, early evening, to help with this. And that they would put in my file that I would get a free annual inspection to make up for all the issues.

They did finish the door opener installation on Tues, and it worked when I got home. On Wednesday, I waited for them to come to help with the vehicle button setting, but they didn't show. I sent an e-mail that night asking if I got the nights mixed up (they weren't but thought I would give the benefit of the doubt), 3 days later still no response to the e-mail.

Additionally, on Tuesday morning they already took the final payment, without any sign off from me or knowing if the garage door opener worked at this point.

Very disappointing experience overall.

They did what they said that they would do and for the price I was quoted. They were done on time, cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased with their workmanship.

There was a large opening that they closed. The springs and rollers all had to be replaced. Actually just about everything. It was very expensive, but I am very pleased with the workmanship.
