Rebuild 2 chimneys

I had bricks on 2 chimneys falling apart. Dave from Red Robin came for inspestion. Within 24 hours I had a detailed estimate that was very competitive. I went with the job and very, very peased with the job and cost. Job looks great and bricks are a perfect match.
They will be back to repair the front porch and stairs next summer.
Thanks Red Robin!

Tuck pointing and brick replacement

We contacted Red Robin and Dave was very flexible with scheduling a time to provide an estimate. Mike came to our house and provided his expert opinion on some areas we were unsure of. Mike walked us through the priority areas and then provided a very detailed, thorough quote. It took the Red Robin crew just one day to complete the work. Afterwards, we noticed there was one brick that required replacement and Mike came back immediately the next day to fix it. Red Robin is a great company to work with.

Tuck pointing and Parging

We needed some preventative maintenance done on our 100+ year home - tuck pointing, parging along the side of the house and the replacement of some bricks above one of our windows. Dave and the Red Robin crew did a fantastic job. They were extremely professional, on time and a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking to have this type of work done, and have already passed their details along to my father in law who will be using them in the spring.

Chimney protection

For the past year we've had the occasional bird come down through the chimney. However after experiencing 2 in the same week (and the same bird for that fact) and having a difficult time extricating said creature, we decided to put our foot down and have a new chimney cap installed earlier this year. After browsing through homestars we decided on Red Robin, as their quote was very competitive. very happy with the team's work and politeness - the alignment and sealing of the cap seem perfect and the surrounding work area was tidied before leaving. The chimney even seems quieter after the installation - which will come in in handy when the winter winds start up. Highly recommended.

Chimney Repair

All around our Red Rose experience was extremely positive. Dave responded to our 1st call promptly with a reasonable estimate. John and Chris are nice guys doing a great job. It felt like we had family taking down and rebuilding our chimney. I would definitely recommend them.

Brick replacement, tuck pointing and re-parging

Dave and his crew were knowledgeable, friendly and detail oriented. Due to the very rainy fall season the work was delayed a few times but Dave always kept me updated as to when (weather permitting) the work would be done. Attention to detail was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I am extremely happy with the finished product and would definitely use Red Robin again.

Tuckpointing; parging, flagstone step repair

We had a number of different issues that needed attention, including some tuckpointing and re-cementing of our front flagstone steps. We also had cracking in cement walls lining our driveway and some deteriorating brick pillars that needed a fix that was not going to break the bank. Dave came up with a solution.

Dave Bissinger impressed me with his knowledge, thoroughness, and attention customer service. We were always kept in the loop, and they came as expected. When we had aa minor follow up issue that needed attention after the work had been done and paid for, he sent someone to fix it as a matter of course.

Unfortunately he does not deal with interlock issues!
Highly recommended.

Parging foundation and new steps

Very personable and easy to deal with - we liked the guys quite a bit, which was a big factor in choosing them. We are happy with the parging work done - a perfectly competent job by the looks of it.

However, we also had our front precast concrete steps replaced. They hit some minor snags, making the job last a little longer than I think they anticipated. This elicited some "I didn't know this job was going to be so much trouble when I quoted" comments, which I didn't completely appreciate. The replacement steps were a little larger than the old steps, which caused some minor issues with our railing not fitting so great anymore - in fact, they snapped a solder joint installing the steps. They didn't try very hard to make us really happy with addressing the issue. But, a somewhat imperfect solution was offered and we decided to live with it.

I just wish they had been a little more thorough when figuring out the details of the job, which likely would have prevented the above.

Lintel installation, brick repair

I know I'm bucking the trend here, but I'm really not impressed with the work that Red Robin did on our home. It was sloppy -- to the point where there is mortar smeared and hardened on our brickwork and even on our mailbox. Red Robin removed some of our old brick windowsills and replaced them with cement lintels while we prepared to have new windows installed. Unfortunately, they slathered a couple of inches of mortar beneath the lintels to raise them up so that the new windows would fit snugly (rather than using a thinner layer of mortar and allowing us to use wood to fill in the extra space that would have resulted above the new windows). It is really unattractive. The largest lintel that they installed isn't even centred beneath the window! When one spends money on the front of one's home, one expects greater curb appeal, not less.

Dear Jenni,

We are very sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the work completed on your home. We are very disappointed that we did not know you were unhappy and we would like the chance to correct the situation. If you would like to call us back at 416-206-8859, we would be more than happy to discuss this with you.
