Steve came in , evaluated the site and was very efficient. I had a positive experience with Steve. I had a couple of trees going in and his team put it in for me as they were installing the pondless. Definitely will recommend them to friends!

I live in a personality-free newer build close to downtown. My front porch was poured concrete, my walk made of paving stones and my small lawn was expiring from being laid on builder's rubble. Steve Handley and his crew built me a pondless waterfall, a stone walkway and clad my front deck in wood. Now people stop to admire my yard, have their picture taken in it and children walk up to watch the waterfall. Steve has wonderful design sense, deep knowledge of natural elements and confidence in himself. He worked on an overall vision for the yard and then he executed. I kept the freehand concept drawing from our very first meeting, and it is incredibly close to the finished product 12 months later. Steve respected my preferences and got me involved so that I had a sense of control over the look of the waterfall. The best part was meeting him at the quarry yard to select the individual stones for the waterfall. I like the fact that Steve employs his crew rather than contracting out. It allows him to control the schedule more effectively and to exercise a firm hand in overseeing their work. Steve had to battle through some very challenging weather conditions. He stayed flexible and diligent in doing whatever he could depending on the prevailing weather in order to keep the project moving forward. Steve is an excellent communicator - I rarely felt out of loop even though we had setbacks with weather and a couple of service providers. He was always professional, but also always warm and engaging. He was a very pleasant person to work with which is a good thing in a project of such a long duration and with so many different elements. We were in regular contact and it was always professional, straightforward and informative. Steve is organized and prompt. He never failed to keep a meeting and was always prepared. He returned all phone calls and emails. Finally, Steve embodies a very rare quality in a service provider -- accountability. He created an environment where I felt safe to ask questions and raise concerns. Any issue I had was addressed directly and effectively. He either explained why something was a certain way, or he would work at fixing it until I was happy. I would wholeheartedly recommend Westney Landscaping to anyone willing to pay for the excellent product and service they provide, It is value for the money.

Steve is a master at creating beautiful, natural looking ponds.
It had to be hand dug so it took days for his hard-working staff to dig out the huge pond and stream he designed, but the wait was well worth the effort. They were amazing!
It's half of our yard but exactly what we wanted. We could sit for hours if we had time to just watch and listen to the water flow over the lovely stream down into the poind.

I have been planning my back yard paradise for 2 years now. Let's just say I am very particular and fussy about everything. I had struggled with the decision of a contractor to construct the pond until I met Steve. One conversation and I knew I had the right guy. Passionate, knowledgeable, courteous, patient and just as fussy as I am are only a few of the words I can use to describe Steve. This dedication was carried through to his crew. They were professional and did not hesitate to answer any question I had, no matter how silly. I always felt that we were in good hands. We had a basic pond for seven years and asked Westney Landscaping if it could be re-designed.The result was that we now have four waterfalls instead of one;two streams one of which is "the rapids" and the clearest water I have ever seen in a pond.Even though we had little rain in the summer we did have three major rainfalls and the pond did not overflow its banks thanks to the french-drain that the company owner,Steve Handley,recommended and installed
Based on Steve's advice we planted annual flowers in the rocks, removing all dirt from the roots and they bloomed magnificently despite the heat wave we had in June and July 2011.
I would highly recommend Steve and his company if anyone is considering a water feature on their property.

We saw Steve's work at the homeshow and called him for a "talk". We've always wanted a water feature as a focal point in our yard, but have heard all the horror stories. Steve came by and eased our fears. I think Steve could talk for hours about water features, but he never comes off as boasting about his work or sounding like he's delivering a "sales pitch". He just strikes you as the type of guy who loves talking about something he is passionate about. There was a small delay in the work (due to all the poor weather this summer), but we were notiffied well in advance by Steve about the delay. The final product GREATLY exceeded our expectations. The crew, the workmanship, the clean-up, the follow-up have all been professional and difficult to beat.

I've read the other reviews about Westney on here and some have used the word "art" and if you haven't seen the finished product, calling it art may seem like a bit of a stretch, but once you see it, you won't doubt it.

If you're looking for a water feature, call Westney. You won't be disappointed.

I had a home built pond for 6 years, it began to have significant problems and had never been what I really wanted. I was looking to rebuild to have a beautiful pond plus to be simple/reliable from a maintenance perspective. After a consultation with Steve, he and his team designed an incredible pond that has that truly natural feel and was designed in consideration of not only the space, but in consideration of me and how I wanted to use the space/enjoy the pond. Steve and his team are very professional and have a critical attention to detail, and truly care about the customer in a way that is rare to see today.
