This recliner is a very good looking sofa. The leather and mechanism appear to be good.
There are a lot of buts:
- the stiletto legs will mark your hardwood floor forever. Since the base has its own legs, there are no good options: furniture leg protectors will not work since the stilettos are mounted at an angle and are not round.
- This of course becomes a major problem on delivery and when moving.
- The advertised "solid wood" is neither solid nor wood. Instead, the base is extremely wobbly by design, holding the sofa together from side to side and front to back, but when lifting it, the ends will turn against each other in the vertical plane.
- the reclining seats are only held by four screws each.
( For me, the seats were not not even held by those screws, one bolt was simply sheared of, the bolts in the middle severely bent)
- by construction, these screws and bolts are extremely difficult to deal with once damaged.
- absolutely make sure the seats are properly attached (1), the bolts are intact and not bent (2), do not use an impact drive as it may shear bolts (!), and secure the inclining mechanism to the base using 4 solid wood screws on each seat (3), where the mechanism has screw holes already for your convenience.
- if you have trouble with the bolts be double careful with repairs.
A sheared of bolt is likely to be stuck and the nuts used are embedded and can easily start turning with your tool, in which case you would have to cut them out using a 1 inch hole drill, which in turn will be problematic if you hit the nut with your guide drill, and so on. Better return the sofa right away.
Service from Mobilia is between dodgy and non-existant. I was asked in turns to (a) find my own repair shop (b) accept a 20% price reduction, or
(c) return the sofa. Of course when trying to confirm the reduction, they would even calculate the reduction on the gross price. Still trying to get their attention.
Be careful that you get a written statement of the warranty of the furniture with them, the warranty is not on their site and in hindsight they will not produce it either. Whatever the sales person tells you is gone with the wind.
