Overall very disappointed in the company. Mike came to give an estimate and booked a date to trim in two weeks. He pointed out that there was a lot of overgrowth between the hedges and would take time to clean out with a higher than normal price. As discussed in details what needed to be done, the top to be leveled off for it was very uneven, and the sides to be trimmed. Mike gave me an estimate of $250 plus tax.

His guys came today to do the work, but when asked why they hadn't leveled off the tops, they told me that they were only supposed to trim the hedges, clean it up, and not cut the top as per the instructions from Mike. It was only until Mike got on the phone he repeatedly denied the supposed work to be done and said it would cost double to finish the job.

Now I’m no expert in hedges but Mike not only changed his version of the story, he kept coming up with excuses earlier in the week of why he couldn’t provide the copy of the estimate by email. This copy was handed to me AFTER the work was done. My mistake was asking him to finish the job because I couldn’t wait any longer, we agreed on $500 cash (which for some reason did not include cleaning out the overgrowth).

Now even if I’m giving Mike the benefit of the doubt that this was a miscommunication on our part because we haven’t had a service for trimming hedges in at least a couple of years, he’s on the phone after the guys did the second part of their job asking for tax to be paid on top of what we just agreed again two hours ago. This time denying what he just said in front of his workers.

I almost never go out of my way to write reviews but I feel the need to warn people of a company which operates so unethically and crooked. The lack of professionalism Mike displayed today has me wondering how he has operated his company for so long in Ottawa. I have to seriously commend his workers for not only controlling the situation and being patient with the client; they did a great job of fixing the hedges. Honestly, I don’t know how they aren’t running the company and they saved your butt a star.

My mom chose to use this company after seeing their work on a neighbour's yard. She spoke with the owner about trimming her hedge and removing weed trees growing within the hedge. Ottawa Hedge Trimmers quote was almost double other quotes but included the removal of the weed trees to which Mike said they "would need to bring a chainsaw." In the 4 hours, the two men did the work, they said they were only told to trim the hedge. My mom spoke to Mike on the phone and he said his quote did not include the trees. Further, its been two days and the cedar trimmings are still in 2 piles on the front lawn. To add insult to injury, the men cut a vine that was in the hedge but wrapped around their internet cable. They left the vine dangling from the cable instead of cutting it off. A truck drove under the cable, pulled on the newly dangling vine and ripped the cable off the house. My parents now have a pile of cable also sitting on their front lawn. We are waiting on rogers to come repair the cable but have now been without internet for 2 days. My mom is so upset how this company took advantage of her and made a mess of her front yard and didn't take good care while trimming the hedge.

I needed my hedge trimmed and the crew that was sent did a good cut but when I checked a week later they had not cleared cuttings from top of hedge. When I informed the owner he had the crew back the same day to fix the oversight. The price of the work was very competitive and I am happy with the final result.

Called them in after successful trim of neighbour's 'gone wild' cedar hedge. For three years they have cared for my mature hedge - it make me proud to show off my yard. Experience shows: they're efficient, well-mannered, they clear the trimmings, and, best of all are reasonably priced IMHO.

Asked for back hedge to be trimmed and evened out. His worker came and pruned the hedge but left the sides uneven by two feet on either side! Told owner we were not happy and was told they could only do so much with what they have. More discussion, owner agreed to come by and saw work. Told use worker would come back on a Sunday to do work. Waited all Sunday, nobody showed up. Called owner again who apologized and gave us refund. I mean, I like the guy but his running the business needs improvement. Hopefully with better trained workers, he can have better customer satisfaction.
