Hagey Hardwood Flooring

He gained our trust then we booked him. Gave him 50% cash for the job. He started March 10. Was only working 3=4jrs per day.
Where we asked questions about the job and why things were done a certain way. He was vague and sarcastic often to the point that we were scared to ask questions. We asked him several times why the Corners of 2 or our closets were not sanded and he kept replying its a closet Noone will see it. He wanted a progress payment of $1000 He had been at our house for 2 weeks. He had only worked a few hrs a day and 3 days had not showed up. He still had our railings and balusters to do. When we told him we would only give him more money when the floors are done, he was upset and he came to our house on a saturday and suppossably applied 3 coats of polyurethane but he was only at our house 2 hrs. This was for our whole house. 900 sqf of house. We returned the next day and saw the job. We gave him the payment. On the monday morning , he was supposed to come back to finish the job but we got email that he could not come due to family emergency.
We were not allowed to place furniture on floors until the Tuesday night. On Wednesday we placed some furniture in our living room and it scratched right away right down to below the stain. We realized they were not finished right. The floor was mat and not shiny, was rough under our socked feet not smooth like a finished floor. He had been gone for 3 weeks. We them decided to not continue our job with him. We had now overpaid him.
We got 2 other flooring company to assess and check the floors. Both told us there is no way there is more then 1 coat of poly on them. They also told us that the reason the floor color is so uneven has nothing to do with the type of wood but from the way the color and Sanding was done. They said he did not raise the grain before applying the stain and he did not blend the edges with the rest of the floor and he did not buff the floors for the poly.
The color of our floor is very uneven and we could see where he had started color and where he had to mix more to finish it. We even found an area or floor that he missed completely with the polyurethane. As for the closet corners, He was just cutting corners. So to fix the floor we had to pay another $1500 plus tax and that was just to polyurethane properly. It was not to fix the stain as we could not afford that. He was refusing to give us our overpayment back. We finally got it today after 7 weeks of communicating with him.
He has very poor communication skill and wants us to treat him like a friend instead of a contrator we hired.

CONTRACTOR BEWARE!!!!
In Feb 2023, we hired Brandon to redo our floors in our new home. He had 24/7 access for 15 days and said it was no problem. We paid him half for a deposit and then nearing the end we gave him more money as he sent pictures of what looked decent. He is untrustworthy and made a mess . He never showed back up to complete. It was 1300 sq feet of pure disappointment. The edging was all rough, he splattered a can of stain and left it there, the entire living room floor would cause slivers in your feet. He damaged all the built ins and cupboards. There was no poly-eurathane in any room. He had advised us to remain off the floor for 3 days while it dried. He closed all the shutters so we couldn't see in until he had complete taking off with our money. We tried to use a local business close to our new home, he stated it was a 2nd generation. We hired him for the right reasons only to find out he is a low life loser. FAST forward 1 year later, we went with the expense of suing him, we now have judgement and he has been served. It gives a little satisfaction, as I now can write this review. We are hoping that he pays us the money owing, but also, we hope that he doesn't continue to do the same thing to others and ends up going out of business. Please be careful as he has once again changed his name.

Hired Brandon to refinished hardwood floors. Was originally told 8-10 day timeline. He started July 24th and just finished Aug 28. The quality of his work is terrible, he's been harassing me for more money since Aug 15 after already paying 60% of the job. Spent less than 3 hours a day at the house some days and didn't show up for an entire week after saying he would everyday. Continuously left the home to smoke weed in the driveway throughout his days. Asked to not stain the floors as I had originally requested to "get the job done and get paid" After I seen the finished product I sent him many photos (attached to this review) and he said he'd come back to fix it. The floors are incredibly rough like sandpaper, there is drips of clear coat all over, the edges have been sanded so deeply you can see the gouges in the wood. He's now refusing to fix his work, threatening a lien on the home, threatening to tarnish my name and business on "media", and more. He's ruined 100+year old wood floors and costing me tens of thousands in repairs.

Word of advise to anyone looking to hire Brandon.
Get a proper written estimate, and/or receipts of deposit for labour and material first!
After hiring Brandon to do a new staircase for my Mother (Senior woman) she decided to pay $5000 up front before receiving any kind of written estimate or contract. After numerous messages and calls and work being postponed my mother decided to ask for refund of the mo ey as no work had been started. Took 8 months and she is still owed $600+ back and was told it was sent to her, when I actuality it was never transferred.
All it would have taken was to give a proper estimate or something on paper showing the money she had put down on this so she would have felt more secure in working with this company.

DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!!!
My job was booked in October 2022 with a start date of early January 2023
A week before starting he asked for 50% down, which I sent. By mid March, 2023 he still hadn't showed up. This was the 4th time he bumped us with yet another excuse why he couldnt make it
I finally asked for my deposit back and he said it was non refundable even though that was never mentioned previously nor was it stated in the contract. Said he already bought the supplies. So I asked for the supplies and here we are in April 2023 and no money back and no supplies dropped off even though he's said he was shipping them
Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more for a contractor that will actually show up and do the job they said they were going to do,rather than taking your money and then disappearing
