Shed Installation quality is OK, but VERY POOR customer service

Recently I called Rona for the installation service of my shed. Ihe quality of installation is OK, however their customer service is just like anarchy and disorder:

- They never move forward my project until I call them several times to ask them. I waste at least one month totally because of this.
- Different agents will tell you different things. In the beginning the first agent didn't even tell me that I need a base for my shed, their contractors came for nothing. Then the second agent told me that I should buy my own material in a Rona store, and I did for 200$+. In the end the third agent told me that I shouldn't have done that because it's all included in the base installation. Finally I paid 200$+ for pieces of wood for nothing. It's a very frustrating experience.

The installation job was OK, but it's their contractors who did that, not Rona. I suggest you to contact these contractors yourselves instead of looking for Rona as intermediate, because their customer service is nothing but ANARCHY.

Run from roof installation - amateur and incompetent

A 5 year ongoing battle beginning with an incompetent estimate (there were more layers that would have been seen from the attic), to unsealed flat roof redo (water squished out from corner after 1st rain) - hired outside inspector one month after install in 2011. New problems surfaced in 2015 and another outside inspection. Sickeningly, poor workmanship, and impossible to get service.
Nails through soffett over-hangs, roof not installed to protect fascia, pooling water on flat roof pours over roof edge where ponding is deepest. Lived in the house 6.5 years prior without these problems.
Forget about head office assistance for the Vancouver local issues - each phone call netted me another powerless underling and supervisors refused my calls and refused to answer my emails. Terrible customer service.

hot water tank

I bought the tank and installation from Rona. The installer came to my home. I took time off work and met him. He looked at the job and stated he needed more room to work and jumped in his truck and left. I told him everything was paid for and he said to get my money back????then he drove away. I asked Rona what happened and she did not respond or say sorry...nothing. I was shocked and disappointed. I did get my money back which was good I guess I'll be shopping American.....

Interior Door Install

We had planned on purchasing all new interior pre-hung doors and frames thru Rona, including the install by their contractors. Rona measured all 10 doors. We went to Rona to receive a copy of our estimate. Although the measuring fellas did note Right and Left door swings, this was not written on the estimate. As well, it was difficult to read the estimate as they listed the measurements, but not the specific room for said door which made it difficult to understand the quote (for us and the Rona employees) and it made it difficult to ensure all was accurate. Rona asked us if we knew which doors were a right swing and which doors were a left swing. I told the Rona employee that the fellas that came and measured did definitely make a note of this detail. The Rona employee contacted the measuring men who no longer had the records of how many right swing doors we needed and how many left swing doors. Rona phoned me at home and asked me to go and check which doors were right swing and which were left. I declined their request to do their work for them as I paid the $45 down for Rona to make an accurate estimate with all the information recorded the first time they came to the residence. Rona sent another estimator at my request. By this time, I told Rona they can measure one door. Might as well see if the install service is any better than their customer service. If they did a good job on one door, I would have them back to do the rest. The install fella came over. He did not flush the casing nicely together, he asked if he could use my patio table to cut the door (I declined and realized he most likely had a saw horse or something he could use in the work trailer he was towing) so he opted to saw the door in an unsafe fashion and upon installing the door knob... he missed installing 3 of the pieces. Oh, and this installer who sat in my driveway for 15 minutes prior to coming into the residence, moved so quickly once he started working on the job, he almost took out my basement ceiling lights with the pre-hung door he was carrying. I quickly voiced my concern which most likely saved unnecessary damage from occurring. Less than a week later the door was rubbing against the frame upon opening so I phoned Rona back and requested a different installer. A different installer arrived and commented on the poor workmanship (casing) the previous installer did. If I could upload a photo on here, I would. The new installer fixed the door from rubbing and installed 2 of the 3 "extra" pieces that were left from the door knob install that the first installer neglected to put in. Yes, so when the second installer left, there was still once piece from the new door knob that had not been installed. In conclusion, so grateful I opted to get only the one door installed. The other 9 doors will definitely be installed by a different company.

Fixed my roof

The man who came to my house was very nice, and did his job thoroughly and efficiently. I've had 3 other roof fixers come to my house in the past years, and none have been as great at their job, while being kind, as this one.

bathroom renovation

I went to the tiling seminar Rona had. I found it very informative and they made tiling look very easy. They explained why hardy board (cement board) should be the product of choice for tiling a bathroom. I found they stock 4'x8' 1/2" sheets of hardy board which other retailers usually only stock 3'x5' 1/2" sheets of hardy board. It worked great for what I needed.

site measure for renovating a bathroom

Advised Rona of specs & budget, we were told no prob of our budget and that the inspection cost of $45 would be applied to the renos. Contractor attempted to double our budget. After some complaining, manager returned the inspec/site measure cost to us. Very misleading. There is no reason why they should be charging for this service.
