We had planned on purchasing all new interior pre-hung doors and frames thru Rona, including the install by their contractors. Rona measured all 10 doors. We went to Rona to receive a copy of our estimate. Although the measuring fellas did note Right and Left door swings, this was not written on the estimate. As well, it was difficult to read the estimate as they listed the measurements, but not the specific room for said door which made it difficult to understand the quote (for us and the Rona employees) and it made it difficult to ensure all was accurate. Rona asked us if we knew which doors were a right swing and which doors were a left swing. I told the Rona employee that the fellas that came and measured did definitely make a note of this detail. The Rona employee contacted the measuring men who no longer had the records of how many right swing doors we needed and how many left swing doors. Rona phoned me at home and asked me to go and check which doors were right swing and which were left. I declined their request to do their work for them as I paid the $45 down for Rona to make an accurate estimate with all the information recorded the first time they came to the residence. Rona sent another estimator at my request. By this time, I told Rona they can measure one door. Might as well see if the install service is any better than their customer service. If they did a good job on one door, I would have them back to do the rest. The install fella came over. He did not flush the casing nicely together, he asked if he could use my patio table to cut the door (I declined and realized he most likely had a saw horse or something he could use in the work trailer he was towing) so he opted to saw the door in an unsafe fashion and upon installing the door knob... he missed installing 3 of the pieces. Oh, and this installer who sat in my driveway for 15 minutes prior to coming into the residence, moved so quickly once he started working on the job, he almost took out my basement ceiling lights with the pre-hung door he was carrying. I quickly voiced my concern which most likely saved unnecessary damage from occurring. Less than a week later the door was rubbing against the frame upon opening so I phoned Rona back and requested a different installer. A different installer arrived and commented on the poor workmanship (casing) the previous installer did. If I could upload a photo on here, I would. The new installer fixed the door from rubbing and installed 2 of the 3 "extra" pieces that were left from the door knob install that the first installer neglected to put in. Yes, so when the second installer left, there was still once piece from the new door knob that had not been installed. In conclusion, so grateful I opted to get only the one door installed. The other 9 doors will definitely be installed by a different company.
