A few years ago tree roots invaded my pipes and brought water into my basement. Roy's preventative maintenace ensures that I will never have roots causing a problem in my pipes again. I highly recommend him.

He snaked my basement pipes and saw that I needed to replace the front yard trap which was leading to blocked pipes because of tree roots, from a tree on City property. He informed me of a City Rebate program that would cover the cost of the work and since having the work done in May I've received a full rebate. Personable and experienced. Recommended!

The Town of Markham recommended Mayday Drains to me when they realized one of my drains was blocked. Roy was able to come out the same day. He sent a camera into the drain and found that the blockage was caused by tree roots. A few minutes later he had cleared the drain and water once again flowed freely. He also checked another drain and suggested improvements that could avoid future problems with minimal cost. He was pleasant to deal with and very efficient. I would recommend him to anyone.

In July of 2008, after a huge rain storm we experienced water damage inside the house. After determining from our roofer that we had a drain filled with debris on the roof, we had great difficulty finding someone who would go up 35 feet to unblock it. Roy's equipment was far to heavy to carry up the ladder but he gladly recommended a company who were able to deal with the problem. Roy's concern, helpfulness and attitude has now gained him a new client.

After a long and heavy rainfall last week of June 2008, our finished basement was severely flooded. To put this into perspective, I have a home office in the basement where I keep pertinent documents and up to date computer systems, wall to wall carpet and desks, chairs and conference room tables. All was damaged. We needed to find out the cause of the flood. We called a few people from the yellow pages who came and told us that we would have to spend a lot of money fixing the problem by excavating the land around our home and this would take a lot of time and cost which we were not expecting. Our friend recommended that we should contact Roy Gibson of Mayday Drain Services and get his opinion. Our first phone call with Roy, we were immediately impressed by his professionalism, his honesty and quick response to our problem. Roy came to our home within 24 hours. Roy was not convinced with what was said by previous trades people that had come to see the damage. He took it upon himself to do a thorough investigation and found that the drain pipe was blocked and that the location of the pipe was on city's property. Roy took it a step further and informed the city of the problem which he did have to do. I was relieved and I told him that God had sent an angel to me!

The basement storm drain in my 80+ year old house was clogged. As a result, rainwater was backing up from the drain into the basement. I was looking for a solution that would be fast, efficient and cost effective. I needed someone who was familiar with all types of drainage systems and would get to the cause of the problem. I called Roy at Mayday the day after another huge rainstorm that had flooded many streets and basements in Toronto. He was courteous and friendly on the phone - no easy feat when your phone is ringing off the hook with people with similar problems. He promised me that he would be at my house the next day and would call when he was on his way. True to his word, he called when he said he would, and arrived promptly. He quickly assesed the situation and determined that he would not need to use the (expensive) video camera. He "snaked" the drain and was able to clear up the problem. Total time on site less than an hour. He also had some good tips to offer me relating to rainwater management (ie. downspouts, etc). I give Roy my highest recommendation.

Following flooding in basement, we had storm drain checked and a blockage was found just beyond our property line. Town of Markham use Roy and his team who came out on a Sunday morning. The task appeared really challenging - camera was getting to mud, high pressure water jet was getting through but not creating a permanent channel, ultimately the old-fashioned snake succeeded with a huge amount of patience required to chop up root segments that had infiltrated the drain. They hacked away and ultimately got the drain completely cleared. Their determination and persistence was impressive and they retained a pleasant demeanour throughout (almost 4 hours in total by the time they were done). They were careful to not create any mess. Highly recommend.
The Town of Markham has also been fabulous in dealing with this - as the blockage was on their property, there was no cost to us.
