Kent was amazing to work with and has great ideas. Our front garden and driveway look
Amazing. The flowers In our garden are so pretty and there is always something beautiful to see.
Thanks very much Annette. Our ideas were born from your fine direction and we hope that we ran with them to their full potential . Enjoy your new curb appeal !
After much time spent researching the right landscape architect for our project, we knew wholeheartedly that Kent Ford was the right person to turn our dream garden into reality. We had a feeling in mind for our front porch, tutor style home but needed much help to bring our ideas together. Kent Ford Design Group has created an elegant and timeless garden, one that blends in with our neighborhood of historic homes, and one that comes most admired by it’s residents. What we loved the most was Kent’s attention to detail, his meticulous approach to selecting just the right plant, hedge or tree and his frequent presence on-site as to ensure that his vision comes to life exactly as he planned. Kent’s professional abilities, together with his friendly, funny and approachable personal style, have made this project one to be fondly remembered!
It was our pleasure to work with you. We hope the project continues to thrive and evolve over time and provide enjoyment. All the best to you and the family !
Kent and his team are professional , pleasant and a joy to work with . They listened to all our needs and incorporated them into a plan that exceeded our design expectations. They were also very knowledgeable in gaining our approvals with the City of Toronto , for deck and ravine permits.
We would highly recommend the Ford Team for anyone seeking a residential renovation or new build landscape, on time and on budget
We enjoyed working with you very much and are glad you are pleased. The process of working though the City permits is sometimes arduous and we appreciated your patience while we obtained those approvals. We hope you enjoy your ravine oasis in the City !
I own a small semi-detached property in midtown Toronto. I first selected Kent Ford Design Group over 10 years ago to totally “renovate” my front and rear yards. I’m still coming back from time to time, whether it’s to add more hardscape (I like to see various kinds of stonework) or to put in more trees, shrubs or perennials (I keep trying to increase the variety or have more of what has been working very well). I’m attracted to Kent Ford’s excellent level of knowledge, creativity and professionalism. His landscape designs have fit my needs and budget very well; I enjoy the results every day.
Its been a pleasure to work on several phases of your landscape development with you since 2005. Thanks very much for the review and for the testimonial on our new website. I hope the gardens and landscape bring you much pleasure in the future !
The team at Kent Ford Design Group provided exceptional service in designing and managing my family's two acre cottage property. We thank them for their creativity and practicality in overcoming challenging site features. We highly recommend Kent and his team.
Thanks very much . It was easy to become inspired creatively with such an idyllic setting in cottage country. All the best to you and the family,
We gave Kent a picture to copy which he disregarded and came up with his own design. When we pointed this out to him, he re-drew it but began charging us for "revisions" beyond the original budget. His work was archaic , unimaginative and lacking conviction . The final design we received (we later found out from his own arborist) would never have passed city zoning. He was of course happy to provide additional "revisions" and charge us some more. This was the final straw . We fired him as we had lost all confidence in his abiltity to manage our project. To top it off, he withheld our deposit citing more "additional" costs.
One thing we pride ourselves on at Kent Ford Design Group Inc.is our detailed and thorough process of client input and design revisions. Our clients appreciate this and we are told we are good listeners. Its interesting that the client who wrote this review had a problem with listening himself, particularly when it came to matters of City by-laws. We met the challenge of satisfying his program of a rear yard pool, terraces, spa, bbq, and cabanna while abiding by the setbacks required for existing tree preservation . Our final design met with Urban Forestry guidelines however it didn't satisfy the clients intense desire to add more paving to the plan . As a result, we made more than the prescribed revisions in our design contract, and billed for them after notifying the client in advance of the additional cost, which was also spelled out in our contract. The design ended up going back to a pool layout that the client rejected at the preliminary stages of our design process.
We always welcome critique of our designs, however we take issue with this homeowner who was in fact the one who wanted to ignore the advice of our team arborist and the related City by-laws.
We hired Kent Ford of Kent Ford Design Group Inc. to come up with a conceptual and working drawing plan for our property and we couldn't be more thrilled. His in depth attention to detail and easy manner made the design process a joy !
We were also impressed by his technical skills in sorting out grading problems and structural advise for garden structures.
I dont know who wrote the other review here but they must have the wrong Kent Ford !
We would recommend him highly !
I would not recommend Kent Ford. We paid for $4000 for a landscape plan had was very poor. There were many mistakes in the plan. He did not include the slope of the land. We had to build a retaining wall which was an extra 16k. The pergola he designed did not have enough support. The screens that he designed when very expensive and he did not listen to our need. He was difficult to deal with.
The homeowner who wrote this review was referred to me by another client. In hindsight we would not have taken her on but did so given her personal connection with an existing client. While the husband was enthusiastic and supportive of our work and a pleasure to work with, the wife was not. She was suspicious and antagonistic and so tight on the dollars that she argued with her husband on which dying weed trees to keep in their back yard in order to save on removal costs.
I believe that she was against the idea of hiring and paying a certified professional to come up with an architectural plan in the first place. In my view she would have been content designing the project herself while stumbling through the construction process. The " many mistakes in the plan " she refers to were opinions provided to her by a unidentified contractor with whom we had not opportunity to contact for Q and A. This same contractor apparently quoted the simple acrylic panels we designed at $ 15,000 each when they should have been $ 1,500. The difference says it all.
Not including " the slope of the land " as she claims was due to the fact that we were not retained to come up with a grading plan, which was part of more than one attempt to streamline her fees.
Professionals and homeowners both should trust negative first instincts when entering into a new working relationship .
