Metal roofing

Had roof installed 15 yrs. ago. For the most part reasonably happy - the one issue I have not be able to resolve is the roof vents. They are plastic, and over time squirrels chewed away at the vents and made the attic their new home. Couldn't get Interlock to deal with the issue. Paid a wild life firm to have the squirrels removed and they put a metal mesh around the vents, however there is no screening so insects of all sorts continue to be a problem. No one from Interlock has been willing or able to offer a solution.

New Roof

Roof was defective after 20 years, and was replaced. The second roof was much better. I supplied the 2 large vents, the rest was under warranty. My new roof was installed in one day and looks great. Very happy.

22 year old, 3900 custom home destroyed by Interlock

Do not deal with Interlock Roofing Inc.
At the time of this post is day 102 of no resolution since we initially approached Interlock Roofing about a leak in our 6 year old, $80,000+ "Lifetime" steel roof.
We initially had the roof installed in 2016, and have had ongoing leak issues ever since. Interlock have on several occasions in past years sent techs out to "fix" the problem, but have never managed to make it watertight. It took a demand letter from a lawyer last year to get them to come out, and once again the roof leaked over the winter. We've uncovered multiple new problems this spring with the help of professionals in the industry, including a roofing engineer. Still, Interlock hasn't come out to deal with them. We've been removing siding, porches, and porch roofs to find out if the leak has caused damage, and we've uncovered massive structural rot, mould, and mildew. Through legal counsel, we offered for Interlock to refund us the cost of the roof with August 10, 2022 as a deadline to respond, and they didn't even bother to reply. We're now moving forward with litigation for all damages.

DO NOT buy an Interlock roof. Their workmanship is terrible, and their "Lifetime Warranty" is worthless as they A) don't come address the issue in a timely fashion and B) if they do come (via demand letter from a lawyer), they can't or don't spot and address the actual issues.

I'll continue to post pictures and updates as this unfolds. As of now, we're into six figures in damage to our home due to their gross negligence.

Please share this post with anyone and everyone. No one should have to deal with what we have.

Basic Repairs Request - Resolved

June 2022 Update

I am pleased to update this review in light of a speedy resolution to my initial concerns. Sheldon, Scott, Brad and Chris stepped up and handled my maintenance request within a reasonable time frame.

I have therefore upgraded my initial rating to a 10-star

Thanks

I have never written a negative review up until this point. We are existing customers of Interlock who had a new roof installed on our home about 20 years ago. I currently have some basic repairs that I would like to address, and I have not been able to speak to a single person since I initially reached out to them on May 1st, 2022.

My family has repeatedly tried to contact Interlock both by phone and email, and not once was the phone even answered. If existing customers receive this level of customer service, this is terrible business practice.

I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere, many companies on the market offer a similar product. I would happily remove this post if Interlock stepped up to the plate and returned my calls.

What good is a lifetime warranty if you cant even get them on the phone to speak about basic repairs and maintenance?

Buyer beware!

Issues with Chipping Paint (Faulty Coil)

Chipping and peeling paint from Interlock Metal Roof within 5 years of installation. I have included pictures with google map timestamps to show the steady and rapid progression of the paint deteriorating. within a 10 year period.

After initially reaching out to the customer service channel, I was informed by a rep that the cause of the chipping paint was likely due to a faulty coil issue they had with metal shingles the same year this roof was installed. The rep mentioned bad batches can occur, even now. I was told another rep would reach out to me to discuss our options.

We never heard back from anyone so we reached out again and were informed that there is nothing they can do. They only stand by their lifetime warranty if the owner who installed the roof transfers the warranty to the new owner.

We went back and forth with the company, as they had openly admitted that the roof was likely installed with a faulty coil thus, they should honour their warranty.

We finally were able to speak to the VP of the company and had started discussions to find a resolution however, COVID occurred very shortly after and communication ceased from Interlocks end.

We have tried reaching out via phone the past 1.5 years now and keep being told someone will call us back but they never do.

Very disappointing experience and I would not recommend Interlock Metal Roofs to anyone.

Leaking Roof - No Response

It won't let me rate with zero stars (so I gave a one). Interlock was installed prior to our home purchase. We are currently in a renovation and had some tiles removed to extend the roof for the new reno (with additional new metal tiles). ALL work is done by contracted installers - not employed members of the company. NO response or EXTENDED DELAYED response to calls - even with a leak! Our roof is currently leaking where they removed tiles and we have been leaving messages for days with no response. AVOID if you want to have a dry home.

Good product, bad warranty and inexperienced installers.

I had my roof replaced by Interlock about a year ago. The product itself seems quite good. Installation initially had some serious issues as the installers were inexperienced contractors; but they were resolved amicably before I paid the balance over a period of a few weeks. However the reason for the 4 stars is that I paid to have 2 nails installed per shingle, to raise the wind rating warranty from the standard 193 Km/h to 220 Km/h (4 nails would be 275 Km/h). This was agreed with their sales rep Derek and is in the work orders. 2 nails were installed, however Interlock fails to provide the warranty with an upgraded wind rating and it's still just for 193Km/h, even though its almost a year later and I have sent many messages to Derek about it.

Edit: After the reviews were posted I was contacted by Scott and the warranty update was provided. Hence the review is updated.

Service

I am having problems with my roofs (flat IB roof plus an aluminium peak)in that there is constant dripping after rain. Rain is going down soffit or fascia and splashing down the siding. I have been told 3X "they" are coming. There has been no communication when there is a no show. I had communication problems dealing with the company years ago closer to when the roof was installed after the ceiling caved in in the bedroom. Will wait a while longer as gentleman that did answer the phone once was quite polite and seemed concerned with my issue. Both roofs have lifetime warranties.

Interlock metal roofing

After 20 years the paint on my interlock lifetime roof began to peel. The company backed their warranty and installed a new roof for me. I'm extremely happy with the new roof, it is better quality now than it was 20 years ago. And it was installed so much better as well. I can see the difference a proper installation job can make. Steve the installer was hard working, conscientious, a do it right the first time kind of guy. He improved on things the first installers did or should have done. Just as a fast race car is only as good as the driver, a top quality roof is only as good as the installer. Steve is definitely one of the best this company has to offer, I've worked with enough people over the years to know a good worker when I see one. And now my great looking roof proves it. Looks 100 percent better than the first roof. Thanks Steve, well done. And thanks Interlock for standing behind your warranty.
