I highly recommend Hickory Dickory Decks. The Brantford crew (Will and BJ) are true craftsman that succeed in building the ultimate deck project. They have outstanding people skills in that they are very friendly and will answer any and all questions with an explanation as to exactly what they are doing. Even the deck yard Supervisor (Thomas) was fantastic when additional product was required.

Our 22-year-old cedar deck needed replacement. Unsure of the type of deck we wanted, I reached out to a few reputable companies and began the process. One of the companies recommended by a family member was Hickory Dickory Decks (HDD). I was put in touch with Steve and Erick (master carpenter) who services Markham. Once we narrowed down what we wanted, we got final quotes. HDD quote was competitive, and we decided to proceed with them based on their professional approach and family experience.

A pleasant surprise for a contractor, Steve was excellent at communication. He provided constant updates on material arrival, expected completion which he would adjust for weather unpredictability. During construction, the site was kept clean, and all tools and materials were put away at night, all very professional. Steve and Erick’s crew were pleasant to deal but more importantly, the quality of work and attention to detail were excellent which they used squares and levels for every foundation structure. Quite frankly, I could not have had a better experience.

I am very pleased with our beautiful deck, in both functionally and quality. I would recommend Steve and Erick of Hickory Dickory Decks in a heartbeat.

I was impressed by the professionalism of the quote from Geoff. It was the only one to include a drafted sketch of the proposed deck. We replaced a rotting wooden deck with one using composite material. The work was done on schedule and I was really impressed by the care that Kerry took in his construction. The result is exactly what we wanted.

I had my 21-year-old cedar deck re-surfaced and framed by Hickory Dickory Decks. I consulted with Jamie and a week or so later Brian was on site. He carefully removed the old boards, disposed of them and installed 2 x 6 cedar boards within a couple of days. Looks great and I'm happy with the results.

We are not just new home owners but also new to Canada and our deck is over 8 years old and was put together by Bob.

We were renovating indoors but somehow our outdoor deck ( which is stunning ) took a beating on one of the steps where the nails came off thus giving us a lose step.

I called HHD North West and although I only got Bob on voicemail he not only came and looked at the problem ( we were not at home when he did it ) but came back with the right set of nails needed to do the job.

To start with -- Bob really did not have to come cause there are a lot of folks currently keeping him busy with their decks but he made the time to come -- not once but twice and knowing that the job was really tiny and he could have just ignored us as he had done this sale 8 years ago.

The result --- Bob is THE BEST and MOST professional and HUMBLE person I have met in Canada. He not only fixed the lose step but also guided us on what we needed to do next and was just so reassuring of how good people are yet around to do a great job.

I know our deck will keep doing well cause its been put together with quality products and quality craftsmanship.

When homeowners are looking for contractors, they hope that they have chosen a dependable and qualified company. Well look no more, Hickory Dickory Decks, and more specifically, Will and BJ’s work was astounding!

We acquired other quotes for our backyard job and literally, the sales reps would show up, measure and provide us with a quote. NOT Will and BJ! They came to our home after work hours, sat down with us and did a needs assessment. What was comforting to know, was that Will and BJ were the actual guys that were going to do the work. Once they understood what we wanted and our hesitations about losing too much light in our home, they took us outside and walked us through their proposal. They answered every question and supported their answers with the specs of how each part of the build would be achieved. They further enhanced their explanation with additional comments regarding the cosmetics of the build, how they would do it so the roof wouldn’t look like it was up on stilts and how a gabled roof would bring in more light. We knew just in that one meeting this is the company we wanted to work with and booked the job.

The work was planned for the spring and Will kept us well informed regarding the start date. The job was completed in about 2 weeks and we were overwhelmed with the grandeur of the build. Will and BJ provide digital images so you can visualize the structure, but this experience doesn’t come close to how you feel when you are looking at the finished project.

I remember day one, when they started to take the bricks out of our house to affix the roof to the framing between the first and second floor of our home. My husband looked at me and said “You know the point of no return? Well, I think we just passed it!” We went out to look at the work and BJ got down from his ladder, came over to us and said, “You’re freaking out right now, right?” He was completely empathetic with what we were feeling and just walked us through the building permit requirements.

These two guys are the politest guys you’ll ever meet, and BJ’s laugh is so heartwarming that you will wish you were in on the stories being told while they work.
After the build was complete with only electrical and roofing finishing touches remaining, Will was on it like it was his top priority. He is extremely fast to respond and ensures that you are 100% satisfied with your project.

Steve from Hickory Dickory Decks Aurora/RH provided us a detailed estimate for a backyard deck project. Steve was professional and itemized all the costs clearly in his quote. He was able to provide alternative options in order to stay within our budget. Steve was able to guide me through the process of obtaining the building permit from the city. Steve's team that came to do the installation were on time, polite and did a great job. Throughout the whole process, Steve and his team were professional, courteous and responsive!

Everyone at Hickory Dickory Decks is amazing. We had to replace our broken back deck with a new build, and the communication was stellar throughout the process. There was open consultation with Kosal, who showed us options and helped us plan the deck build. The work itself was beautifully done and efficient. We were always kept in the loop about start dates and when different parts would get done. The payment system was very clear and easy to do. We are thrilled with the work that Kosal and Guillermo did for us - the pictures show what a nice compact deck we have for our little backyard space, and the workmanship was stellar. They did our electrical connections so we have stair and rail lights and everything was professionally done. Looking forward to many years of enjoying this beautiful build. We had a composite deck built by Hickory Dickory Decks 21 years ago and is still solid and looks great today. Recently we experienced a problem with the deck lights and called Hickory Dickory Decks Mississauga south west office and explained the problem to them and set up an appointment. Once the service tech arrived he quickly diagnosed the problem and promptly made the necessary repairs. His professionalism, expertise and quality of work was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Hickory Dickory Decks!

Our first contact with HDD was June 2020 when we presented our vision and rough plans to Kosal. Kosal promptly responded with a comprehensive quote containing multiple pricing & material options for each component. We proceeded to fine tune design details and material choices and in early spring 2021 the contract was finalized with a June project start date firmly booked.

From Day#1 Demo Day, Kosal & “G” (Guillermo) were a total pleasure to be around. Kosal is a highly skilled & organized perfectionist. “The Bros” were consistently professional but FUN, maintained an immaculate work site and were amazingly polite. Long 11-12 hour days was the norm. Construction took 18 days and the project spanned 11 weeks including downtime for supply of glass railing panels and frosted privacy screens.

The result is that we have a beautiful, if not spectacular deck and we love everything about it - the IPE privacy screen and drink rail, glass rail panels, 6 Ft frosted glass privacy screen panels, in-lite lighting, Fusion Stone skirting and especially the Azek Vintage Coastline decking. Everyone who has seen it so far is very impressed.
