Service technician for rental hot water heater checked out the appliance and noted a couple of problem areas with the furnace which is 8 years old.
I ended up taking out a service contract for the furnace/air conditioner based on the expertise and excellence of this knowledgeable employee.
I am confident that this company can do an excellent job. I had a company in 2009 that while installing a new furnace, hit the exhaust pipe for the water heater. Forty eight hours later my carbon monoxide detector went off because of this pipe having come apart. It turns out the hot water heater installer did not glue the pipes together two years earlier.
If I did not have the detector, I would have been dead or very seriously injured. So, given this experience with two energy company technicians, I am very fussy who I let near my gas-burning appliances.
