I had called Pesticon to remove a large hornets/wasp nest on the underside of my chimney, and the Administration team of Donna managed to get a technician to my home in fairly rapid fashion. To my surprise the owner of the company 'Waheed' showed up, and came to my property, which is located much north of Toronto, and I was very pleased with his work, professionalism, and task at hand. I live in the rural part of Durham, and have well water, and a system that needs to be serviced each year. There is an ultra violet system, that each year needs to have the filter replaced, and the inner tubes cleaned out. I contacted Matt from Durham Water Treatment, and for two years now, (he came by last year to my property to service the job), and recently came by again. He had one of his colleagues do the job this time at my home, and both times, I was pleased to see the work properly done. What is also nice about Matt, is that being a relatively new resident to this area, I had asked Matt, if he knew of some contractors for various work that I needed help with in the house, and he was happy to recommend service people that he knows. I was very pleased with the owner of 'GTA Wildlife', 'Kevin' who took the time to answer my questions on the phone regarding carpenter ants in my home. I had spoken with Kevin in the past, who had also helped my father at one time, with bugs in his home. Kevin referred one of his staff members 'Sam' who works out of the region of Durham where I reside, to come to my residence to help with the carpenter ant problem. I was very impressed with Sam! He explained what he would be doing, and reassured me that the spray that he would be using was not hugely toxic, (mostly water, with some insecticide) as the spraying initially was a concern to me. I initially set out ant traps, and Diatomaceous Earth powder (non-toxic) in the home, and outside the perimeter of the home, yet, this was just not doing the job, as the carpenter ants kept creeping in the house, so I realized that I needed the help of a professional, such as the GTA Wildlife Pest Control experts. I am pleased to report that after coming back to my property, and seeing that there were in fact dead carpenter ants in the home, as opposed to seeing live ants crawling, was a nice sight to see. I think that if you have carpenter ants, or bugs of some kind, it is important to get an expert to help you, such as the GTA Wildlife, as the owner 'Kevin' will initially help diagnose the problem, and then send one of his staff members, in this case the terrific 'Sam' to help with my concerns with the ants, was just icing on the cake! I saw Sam working very hard around my property, and with his pleasant demeanor, and knowledge in this area, really helped with my angst over these ants. Thank you GTA Wildlife, and thank you Sam! It is very important to have a knowledgeable home inspector when it comes to purchasing one's home. When I found a property in the rural part of Durham, Ontario, and after living in a city all of my life, there were new things that I had to be made aware of, when purchasing a country styled home. When I contacted Don of 'Peace and Mind Home Inspections', I was very pleased with Don's work. Don had even arrived to my property before I had even got there. He already starting working from taking pictures, and checking the outside of the home, before going to the inside of the home for inspection, by the time I arrived to the property. As a school educator, I know the importance of not only building relations with students, and having up to date lesson plans, a structured base of learning is also very important for the students, just as it is with a detailed report when it comes to home inspections. Don provided this report to me, as well as providing a CD/DVD copy of all the pictures that he took of the property as well. The key part of Don's package of materials is a detailed summary page of his findings. I am still using this summary page even today, with the list of items that Don recommended me to do. Some examples of the work that Don suggested, were to have a retaining wall, replacing the oil tank, having the septic tank pumped and inspected, which I have all done. With regards to building relations, even to this day, when I finally got around to repairing the roof, (which was another item that Don had recommended me to do) Don was kind enough to recommend a few roofers who he trusted to do the work, and I took his first recommendation to me, and the crew did a fine job. Although, I still have some work to do around the home, it is nice that Don always has told me that he is a phone call away, and when I do contact him from time to time for suggestions of what to do with regards to repair, he is always very helpful. My only concern, was of no fault to Don, however, was to the previous home owners, for not really taking care of the property that well, and had only wished that they did take the time to do so. However, it is important to know which repairs are needed, and having a professional such as Don help out the new homeowner is very important. For those reading this review, please if selling one's home, make it a nice transition for the new homeowners to move in, rather then the new homeowner be faced with quite a few additional costs when it comes to repairs. That is why it is important to have the peace of mind to do this, when purchasing a resale home, and have the experts like Don help guide you with what needs to be done right away, and what can wait a while.
