We had this mystery leak that was coming from one of the second floor bathrooms down onto our beautiful dining room table. Because the two bathrooms are back to back, we couldn't quite identify whether it was a shower, a toilet or a sink. I was terrified we'd have to rip the ceiling out. I found Eric on Homestars and he came and took a look, identified that it was an improperly sized gasket on the toilet, replaced it and sealed the whole thing up again, without having to cut open the ceiling. Whew! Great work, would definitely hire again.

Alec and his crew were fantastic! They came and built a beautiful deck to our exact specifications last November. We wanted to use Azek deck material and he had already used it before. He was prompt and put up with my changing my mind a few times regarding whether or not to build stairs or use the old ones. We are so happy with this deck and with Alec and his crew's work. I first found Connie at the Home Show in January 2009. I really liked the display she'd put together and the different trades she'd organized. I called her when it was time to do our deck and backyard. We have a very small but challenging space and Connie was very creative thinking about what we could do with it. She really understands colour and plants and what will look good where -- which is important since I know nothing about plants. Connie also stuck to my budget and time frame. Thanks so much for all your hard work Connie! Our backyard is beautiful!

Sandy carries Pratt and Lambert and Pittsburgh paint lines. When I was looking for paint for our house she happened to have a sale on Pittsburgh's top of the line Manor Hall paint. We bought 15 gallons. It was a pretty complicated order with many of the colours coming from outside the Pittsburgh line. Sandy was patient and helpful along the way. I was able to call the order in ahead of time and Sandy called me to let me know when it was ready. She also helped with colour suggestions for the kids' rooms and we're really happy with the result. Terry was recommended by Janice Lindsay. He gave us a very fair quote and called us a week before telling us when he could start. He showed up every day at 8:30 and worked with one quick break until 5:30. He tidied his job site every night. Talk about fast! He was very careful and very fast. He didn't have trimwork to do, but still and all he managed to prep paint about 2,000 square feet in 4 days on his own. I would definitely hire Terry again. He was amazing.

My husband and I absolutely do not like the paint colour in our house. The same colour was used throughout and although most people comment on how nice it is, it does nothing for us. (It's BM "Grey Mist" BTW). We need something with a little more zing to it and something that goes better with our furniture. Enter Janice Lindsay who, over the course of two hours, had us excited about what our house will look like with the simple addition of the right colours. Janice was patient and so easy to work with. She listened to our likes and dislikes and had some great ideas not only re colour, but other decorating touches as well. Now we can't wait to get started on the projects -- I'll add "before" and "after" photos once the work has been done. Thanks Janice!

I called Flavio because my kitchen sink was leaking -- a lot. It turned out that the original plumber hadn't bothered to line up the drain with the plumbing, so it was no surprise that eventually the plumbing lines disconnected from the drain. Flavio and Matt fixed it promptly and efficiently. I will definitely hire them again! Thanks for your great work.

I hired Belinda to help me transform a windowless, 12'x10' closet into a home office/overflow guest room. Belinda took all the measurements, sketched up a floor plan and suggested places to get the furniture. She worked within my very tight budget and I am very pleased with the results.

We are so pleased with the two beautiful pieces that Derek and his brother Radick made for us. I had some photos of the pieces I wanted made, so I gave them to Derek and he worked directly from them (but with our measurements). The result looked exactly like the photo and I couldn't have asked for anything better. The workmanship is excellent. Thanks for the beautiful work!

Gary came in to redo all the drywall in the house when the general contractor realised it hadn't been done properly the first time round. I didn't know a lot about drywalling until I met Gary. He fixed bumps, tape ripples, nail pops and re-skim-coated everything. He ended up having to re-do the entire house because the first job was so poor. Since Gary re-did it, we have yet to see even one nail pop (which are common in new buildings). Great job, thanks Gary!

We had to buy several fixtures for our new house. I had an idea of what I wanted for the dining room, went to Royal Lighting and found it within 5 minutes. I also found an entry hall light, and two hanging pendant lights. The selection was great, prices were reasonable, service was very good and best of all, its location is great!

Elliot and his team were excellent! This review is long overdue as the work was completed in October. The whole process went very smoothly, including the installation -- which was tricky. The framing of our house isn't what you would call "stellar" so they had to make adjustments to the shelving. I like the product, and there is flexibility as the kids' grow and their needs change we can change the configuration around (more hanging space, fewer shelves). Great job! Thanks guys.

I used Joe and his crew to move us into this house five years ago and will be hiring him again this year. Recently he moved some very heavy furniture to different rooms in our house and then took some old unuseable pieces to the dump for us. He is a great mover, careful with your furniture and pleasant to work with. He and his crew are unbelieveably strong!

When I called George about my broken front door latch, he came within an hour to fix it. The latch itself is old and tricky and he worked on it for about an hour. In the end he got it working again and we could finally use our front door. He told me if it broke again he'd come and see if he could fix it. A month later it did break and, true to his word George tried to fix it but said the 50 year old mechanism was finally at its end. He suggested I take it to the Door Store to see if they could fix it. I would definitely use George again. He was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

Elliot made my house look amazing and mostly by moving a few pieces of furniture around and getting rid of a few old pieces. She is a wonderful and talented interior decorator who asks the right questions when helping you decorate an interior space. She takes into account practical considerations like whether or not you have children and how likely an antique mahogany dining room table will survive in your house (an idea I had until she made me see I'd be too worried about the table and wouldn't be able to enjoy it). A few suggestions here and there, colour and furniture combinations I'd never thought of, a lot of "decluttering" and voila! The change in our house was fantastic. Thanks for the great work Elliot!

Gino’s company took care of designing our geothermal system and installing it. Overall we were happy with the work, the system design in particular. An HVAC specialist came into our house and calculated the system size, the size of the vents needed, the air leakage, and how to best optimize the installed system. The HVAC specialist added a Heat Recovery Ventilator, air purifier and humidifier to the system. We also hooked up our hot water tank to it, and that also has helped reduce our energy costs. The installation process wasn’t quite as smooth. Gino sub-contracted the job to a company that’s now out of business. They didn’t hook up the system properly and we had pressure problems for years. He did however, recommend Vision Energy for maintenance, and since they’ve taken over, we haven’t had any more problems.

Chris maintains our furnace and he does an excellent job! We had a lot of difficulty finding someone who understood the finer points of a geo-thermal furnace, but now that we’ve found Chris it’s been a cinch to maintain. Chris comes and makes sure it’s working well about once a year. We’re really pleased with his service and we’ve finally found someone who knows what they’re doing with ground source heat pumps. Thanks for the great work Chris!

Steve really helped me out of a bind. After taking out the toilet and sink in the bathroom so the painter could have easier access to the wall, I tried to reinstall the toilet myself and ended up over tightening and snapping the water valve right off. In order to fix it we had to turn the water to the house off. When I called Steve and told him the problem he said he could come and fix it right away and he did. While he was there I made him check that I'd reattached the sink properly, and while I had, I'd broken the drain seal, so he had to weld that back together. Steve was professional and did a great job. I really appreciated his prompt service. Thanks for the great job Steve!

We had a great experience with Ridley. The service was excellent, the windows were on time and installed within a day and a half. What a difference it makes to the look of our house!

I needed the knotty pine in the basement painted and the tired upstairs bathroom painted and Reguel gave me a very reasonable quote for the job. He showed up with his crew on the agreed upon date, they worked for two and a half days and it was done. For the basement walls he suggested using a primer that prevents the knots from showing through. The finished basement looks fantastic now. The bathroom was a challenge because we wanted to paint out the old grey tiles. Reguel used a white epoxy paint, he needed four coats, but the result is a brand new bathroom. I would definitely hire Reguel again! Thanks for the great work!

This place is a treasure trove of architectural pieces salvaged from old homes both here and in Europe. It is also a place where you can find expert knowledge and friendly staff to help you with your needs. Take my broken door latch for instance. The locksmith suggested I try this place. The staff was interested in my lock because it was 50 years younger than what they were used to! (they only deal in 100+ year old artefacts). They did their best to see if they could fix it, but in the end it wasn't repairable. They came up with a new latch solution for my front door that solved the problem of covering an extra large hole in the door (from the old latch), and that I could install myself. I would shop here again in a second. What a great staff!

I love these guys! Whenever I need paint I go to Colour Wave. I get the best advice on colour and finsh (ie. eggshell vs. flat vs. semi-gloss). Great service. I won't go anywhere else for paint.

I found this company on Homestars and hired them to glaze our old and yellowing bathtub. They were prompt, efficient and did the job in the amount of time they said. I was really pleased with their service. It was such a quick and painless process. Plus, I feel like I got a new bathtub out of the deal for a fraction of the price of buying a new one!

I needed a carpet for the dining room but I was on a budget. Lilly came up with a very affordable solution of cutting and binding a piece of broadloom. I am really pleased with the end-result. I've used Efloor on three separate occasions and will be using them again in the future! Thanks for all the great work Lilly!

They have a wide selection of every kind of carpet, but what I like about them is they also have a lot of "seconds" available which are a lot cheaper and you can't even tell that they're seconds after they're installed. (You do have to ask for them though). I find the service and the prices excellent!

Ugh! I will NEVER use this service again! Although the man was very nice, and told me what was happening every step of the way, it took him 6 hours to do a one hour job. His equipment kept freezing because it was cold that day, but shouldn't the company know that sort of thing? It took over 48 hours for the carpets to dry, and when they did there were stains left on the stairs and in one of the rooms (they did come back and fix the room).

We needed our basement waterproofed last year after terrible flooding from a winter thaw. I called Rob Sarjeant, thinking the job would be too small for him, but it wasn't and he did it on-time, on-budget (what he quoted me), with no fuss. It was the most painless house project I've gone through. I highly recommend Moore Park.

This was a pleasant and painless process. We needed a new garage door, I wanted a wood one to go with the look of the house. I called Dodds, they sent a salesman, we made a decision, and voila! Three weeks later we had a beautiful new garage door and they took our old one away. It's wood, so came primed and ready to be painted. Painless and easy and I love the new door!
