We had a wood burning fireplace in our basement family room which was drafty and not very energy efficient . We called Sonny to explore options for replacing it with a gas fireplace. He came out to our house very quickly and gave us several options, all of which we were happy with. We chose a gas fireplace that was in stock and it was installed quite promptly. Our space had some unique challenges but Sonny and his electrician were able to solve these . The installers arrived on time and did a great job with minimal mess. We now have a beautiful gas fireplace with remote that we can turn on in an instant and heat the space effectively and beautifully. Very pleased and highly recommend Toronto Comfort Zone

I am redecorating several rooms and had some wood furniture that no longer fit in as it was red or orange toned. But the pieces were wood and better made than some of the new furniture I was looking at so I decided to have the items refinished and chose Harry based on reviews. He came out to look at the pieces and arranged for delivery to his shop. We chose to paint 2 items and to restain the 3rd ( and met with Harry at his shop to choose the exact right stain colour). The items were delivered today and we could not be happier. They all are beautiful and look great in the redecorated rooms. Its like I have all new custom furniture but at a much better price. Highly recommend Harry for wood furniture refinishing

Gianni did some work for us last year and we were very pleased with it. This year a couple of issues arose ( a loose stone and some discoloration of the sealant ) and we contacted Gianni and he came out and made things right . It is great to see that he stands by his work . Great customer service

We contacted Gianni at Imperial based on reviews at Homestars. He replied quickly and was also able to start the work quickly. We had extensible interlocking stone in our yard and around our patio that had a lot of weeds growing in it and needed cleaning and resanding and sealing as we hadn’t done this in many years. Gianni and his team did a great job. We also had a flagstone walkway and porch in the front yard that had been damaged by another company using the wrong type of sealer on it. Gianni said he could fix it even though other companies said they couldn’t. He did fix it and it looks like new again so we are very happy. He and his team were all great to deal with and we would highly recommend.

We wanted to have some decorative moulding installed on our 2 large curved stairwells and our upstairs hallway. Heddy was very prompt in responding to my email and set up a time to do the work very promptly. We are thrilled with the work done as it makes a boring hallway and staircase so much more interesting . The work is flawless and was done exactly when promised .Heddy also arranged for his painter to repaint and we were very happy with him as well. We would most definitely use Yorkville Carpentry for future projects

Absolutely terrible customer service. I have used them several times through a designer. In the summer I ordered some tile myself for a small powder room reno. I was told it would be 8-12 weeks. After more than 12 weeks I emailed and was told I have to wait for a text message as this is their new system. A week later, no text message. I emailed again and was told to wait for a text message. Another several days go by and I called and spoke with customer service. They put me on hold and then cane back on and said “ oh, sorry your order has been here but we forgot to text you,!!” That was bad enough but a week later I realized that the rep had ordered far too much tile. I had 1.5 boxes left. I emailed my rep and customer service to ask if I could return the one full box ( realizing there’s woukd likely be a 15% restocking fee). 3 days go by with no reply so I resend the email. After I week I call customer service last week who apologized that no one got back to me and said that even if they let me return the full box it would be at LEAST a 50% restocking fee. At this point I told her about all the frustration and atrocious customer service- she was very apologetic and said someone would definitely call me by the end of the day. That was last Friday. It is now Tuesday and I have not received a single email or phone call. I would NEVER use stonetile again. They have very nice and unique tiles but I have never experienced such absolutely terrible customer service.

After our longstanding cleaning lady retired last year I decided to hire Lux cleaning services for our quite large house.. We have been very happy with the cleaning services ( and realize now our house was never thoroughly cleaned in the past!). We have a team of 2 or 3 who clean every 2 weeks and the house always looks great . All the cleaners are personable and friendly and do a great job. It's also nice that if someone is sick, they send an alternate, which means I am never left without cleaning services which used to happen in the past when I relied on one person. The office contacts me the day before to confirm the cleaning start time and they are always completely on time, which I appreciate. I'm always impressed by how much they get done while here- with the cleaning schedule that they follow the house is cleaned top to bottom. Highly recommended

We had a stretch of cedar fence that has been gradually deteriorating and over this harsh winter it finally fell right over. The winter storms had also damaged several areas of the lattice work on our fences. We also had to have one gate repaired and another one completely replaced. When the fence fell over I called or emailed several companies listed on Home stars and it was only Pratema from First Choice that got back to me. She came out within two days and gave me an estimate ( she even was able to suggest how some of the fencing could be re-used and just the posts replaced which saved me some money). The pricing seemed very fair. Her crew came two weeks later ( after a slight delay because of weather) and finished the work over the course of the day. The crew were friendly and did a great job and Pratema came by to check on everything. The fence is now solid and straight and looks so much better with the lattice replaced. The gates are also very nice and , more importantly, fully functional again! We would definitely use First Choice fence again

I have used Dominika of Dom Design for 2 houses now and recommend her highly. She designed a complete ground floor renovation and addition for our first home and it was beautiful. She also designed renovations of all our bathrooms in our current home and they are stunning. More recently she helped with redecorating the ground floor of our current home and helped me with paint colours and drapery design and again we are very happy. Highly recommend

We had a number of electrical repairs that needed to be done. I found Java Electric through Home Stars and emailed them on a Monday morning. I received a call back within a couple of hours and the repairs were completed the next afternoon! Arnoldo was very knowledgeable and helpful and we were very pleased with the service provided and felt the price was quite reasonable. In the past we have had to wait for quite a while to get service for relatively small jobs so the promptness of the service with Java Electric was greatly appreciated. We would definitely use them again

We have a large backyard and front yard that had been landscaped a couple of years ago but we felt that we needed lighting to maximize the potential.. We contacted Scott based on home stars reviews and were very happy with our choice.. He was very responsive and came up with a great lighting plan. The lights were installed in a timely manner and Scott was great about coming back to inspect the final product and make adjustments as needed. The final product is perfect- great lighting that really showcases the landscaping and makes our yard and pool very usable as well as beautiful. He even was able to add lighting to a previously unused gas light in out front yard! Highly recommended

We used artistic gardens a few years ago,for a backyard makeover. They were very expensive and somewhat slow but we were initially happy. However we have had many problems subsequently and have given up on having them come back and address these concerns once they had our money.. The sand they used between our interlock turns out to be a cheap type and we have had lots of weeds grow through even in one year. We paid someone else to fix it.. The stone patio they installed is sinking. The Napoleoon BBQ they installed in our stone patio was installed improperly and two years later had to be completely redone A BBQ specialist we called to fix the problem said he had never seen such a bad installation. Had to pay $1400 to fix it one two years later- not covered by warranty because it was installed improperly?. They do work that looks good but not so good on follow up or proper installation and for >$80000 we expected more!

We chose Mimmo and Forever Stone based on great reviews on this site and our initial meeting with him. We were not disappointed. We were originally going to just have our front porch and steps done, but when we saw what a great job he and his crew had done, we decided to have him redo our driveway and side walkway as well. The finished product is beautiful. We were also impressed with his professionalism- although the original start time was delayed a bit due to weather this was communicated to us in a timely manner and once started Mimmo and his crew were there on time and worked hard to get the job done. We were also impressed that they cleaned up daily. The work has made a great improvement in the appearance of our home and we would highly recommend Forever Stone and Mimmo.
