Overall very satisfied with these contractors. They did our main floor and did it with permits. Although we still have an outstanding permit it is because we need to make some changes. They moved our bathroom, installed fire place, leveled floor, used old fir floor planks, took down walls for open concept, put in gas lines, made custom live edge wood bar, installed in floor heating, etc. It took a few months which was longer than anticipated or estimated but there were issues with permits in the beginning. They were open to us doing demo to save costs. The only thing is that they could have been more transparent on extra costs. I found sometimes they would be agreeable to adding or changing something but it would be difficult to find out how much it would cost and they would often estimate down which is not too helpful. There were also some finishings that were not perfectly done - some of the wood used for kitchen cabinets had not acclimatized so cracked. That said, overall they were ready to work early in the morning and sometimes weekends. They were hard workers and very personable. Would hire again

I heard these guys were good and we wanted good windows. We were replacing just about all windows in our newly bought place. The ordering was ok as was the measurement. They came to our place measured things out, were quite quick about it. The windows took a while because they were busy but not a big deal. We had them install them when our contractor was in the house renovating the main floor. However this is when there were problems. The front window when taken out left glass everywhere in the front yard they did not clean it up and this was quite dangerous. They also ordered different windows then what we had ordered for the front window so we had to wait for many weeks for them to get new windows. A few of the windows simply didn't stay up and kept on sliding down. They also suggested it was our contractors who were responsible but finally admitted it was incorrect balances. Unfortunately, it took weeks to receive the balances and when they came in they were also incorrect. It was finally fixed - well after our main level reno was done.

We had a problem with our toilet and didn't know really how to solve it. We called Milani and they said it was a relatively minor problem and in retrospect we probably should have just fixed it ourselves. I can't remember the name of the fellow who came by but he was really nice and he also inspected a few other issues we had.

I got Vancity to come by to do an inspection re knob and tube. Not sure how common it is but they charge for the inspection since it's so involved. We were very happy with the inspcetion - very thorough and Jeff answered all our questions. The only thing was that they seemed to drop the ball for a few weeks when we asked for a quote on all the other work that needed to be done on the house - but in fairness they also didn't send us an invoice for the inspection until much later as well. Jeff was very apolegtic when they did send it and we still plan on using them once we start removing walls in our house:)

Sean helped us out a lot on two homes. He was very thorough and his report was detailed and complete. We went into negotiations fully informed of the entire scope of renovations we would likely need to do. Unfortunately, a bank appraisal fell through and we did not buy the property. For the next one, he offered a partial inspection even though this was at the same time as his wife was about to have a baby! He is absolutely committed to inspection and was willing to help us out even in this busy time of his. He explained things simply and comprehensively. Although we hope to get the current place we are putting an offer on - if we don't, we will surely use Sean again. Cannot recommend him enough.

Chris runs Comfort Screens. He was really relaxed and nice - and gave us the best price for two huge retractable screens for our windows in our loft building so our cats would stay in when we opened our windows. Recommended him to a friend. Only problem being that he does take a couple of hours to complete installation - but given that he does not charge by the hour, this was not a big problem.
