Two years ago, we had water coming up through floor cracks in our basement. At that time, we called another waterproofing company who installed a C-shaped weeping tile pipe underneath our floor. For two years our basement was water-free, but then water returned, worse than ever before. We called numerous companies (including the initial company who did the work) and everyone else recommended time-consuming, messy and very expensive solutions. Our final visit was from Jamie from RCC waterproofing. Jamie came to our home in a timely fashion and spent a great deal of time with us trying to diagnose our problem. He was patient and professional. He discussed a few options, including "watchful waiting" for more water as our basement was dry at the time. He did not pressure us to make a decision. A few weeks later, my husband and I decided to install a sump pump. We chose RCC to do the work. Jamie returned to our home to discuss the details prior to the crew starting the work. Before moving ahead, Jamie thought to quickly inspect the work that had been done by the other waterproofing company. No one else had thought to look at the work that was previously done. He detected a block of calcification at the elbow that connected the weeper to the main floor drain. Apparently, the work that had been done by the other company was poorly executed, using cheap materials. The drainage pipes did not line up correctly. After the block of calcification was freed, we witnessed a surge in drainage of the water -- water that had built up over years under our home. We recommend RCC highly and truly thank Jamie for his patience, honesty and thoroughness.

I called National Decor& Drapes on a Saturday morning and spoke to John in Whitby. John was very helpful on the phone explaining to me what the problem may be and I did not sense he was focused on how to sell an expensive service call. After John told me what the likely problem was and we hung up the phone, John called back in about 10 minutes and offered to come by my home after work that day (Sat of a long weekend) and assess the situation. John spent a hour on a ladder sweating and working hard on our drape runner. John did not try to up sell me on anything I didn't need. After spending the hour fixing my drape runner, I asked John how much it would cost...he charged me only $20.00. John did recommend that I would have to replace the runner but if I wanted to "hold off" for some time he offered to provide free hooks to me if I stopped by the store. We have a number of large windows in our home, as a result of John's honesty I have no doubt that when my wife wants to purchase window covers/drapes, I am going to insist that we do business at this store. It is a rare thing to do business with people where they are not focused on getting as much money as possible out of your pocket at every turn.

Two years ago, I posted a very favourable review regarding how Aquaseal fixed the water coming through floor cracks in the basement. Less than two years after their "fix", the water returned -- worse than before. We called Aquaseal, however the representative simply suggested that we spend much more money and install a more extensive system of weeping tile pipes under our floor, even though the first system had clearly failed. We sought the opinion of other local waterproofing companies and one diligent company first investigated the inital work done by Aquaseal. Apparently, Aquaseal's solution may have worked initally, but Aquaseal used a poor quality connector and didn't line up the weeper properly to the main drain. The competitor showed us how a block of calcification had formed at the connection elbow leading to the main drain. This led to a build up of water under our home over two years and the subsequent flooding we had to endure. The other company saved us lots of money. Aquaseal may have had the right solution, but their poor execution cost us more money, headaches and time.

Company Response

(1) We are sorry you feel this way after 4-6 successful service calls to your home for various leak issues and repairs done by Aquaseal over a number of years. (2) Just to note this complaint from Lisa And Family in Whitby is Married to Robert from Whitby complaintant (3)There was a also a inspection done by Aquaseal Rep in response to water coming up through basement floor furnace confined area only . (4) It was further agreed to deal with a minimal underfloor drain system for this immediate area only (Cost Reflected Small Area only indicated at that time) . (5) Some approx 2 years later Aquaseal was called in again for flooded finished basement .(6) Aquaseal noted to customer that there was a serious issue with the complete house weepingtile system not functioning as intended as so much water was coming up through floor throughout.(7) Aquaseal gave pricing to solve weepingtile problem and customer never responded back.
(8) Complainant stated we used a poor quality fitting (9) Response is we never buy or have bought a lower quality fitting.(10) Sometimes a story is in fact a story what another competing contractor may tell you.
(11) Aquaseal again is sorry for the way you feel which is solely based on what another contractor tells you
(12) Aquaseal is willing at any later date provide any prospective buyer or Real Estate Agent a complimentary Inspection for your property which has a value of $550.00 +hst
