We have wanted to improve our garage for a couple of years, and this year was the year. It helped that Steve returned our call promptly, visited the ‘site’ soon after ,and quoted a fair price. We liked the three step method used..no shortcuts taken. The final reveal was stunning. Almost too nice for a garage! The crew was polite and respectful . HIghly reccomend.

We waited a year to write this review because roofs can be winter's whipping boy. Wasn't a harsh ,snowy season-but a lot of rain and high winds. The crew's excellent work stood the test. Chuck discovered problems under the old shingles and had to replace multiple boards. He and Norm's crew worked hard over two days. Owner Danny explained our options clearly and unlike another highly rated company on this site- didn't demand a deposit, We had several quotes before we did this hire and I know more about roofing now than I care to! This is one of the most important endeavours to undertake as a homeowner. We initially hired another roofer who turned out to be unreliable and beset with costly delays and employee problems. So happy we found this company which did everything they said they would- and stand by their work.

Cascade initially came to correct a dryer issue ,but came back to replace a part in my relatively new fridge,and to check out our oven after a small,but mercifully unsuccessful grease fire. Linda and Steve are a dream team in the repair service. Honest, straight-shooters, they've seen it all in the appliance trade. A business that seems to make machines designed to last a short life with the cheapest parts , no matter the status of the appliance. They gave me some good advice ( don't use the oven's self clean feature ..designed to shorten the life of your stove) clean gently as you go -eschewing harsh chemicals. As a bonus, Linda is a great storyteller..(grew up in our neighbourhood )and while Steve worked diligently 'she gave us a colourful history of our community. Their rates are competitive, and come without an attitude. Cheerful , professional team.

We had mould in our attic from an old water leak. We were originally going for an all-in-one service provider...new roof, new insulation, and mould removal. The provider turned out to be less than honest,and we were lucky to walk away with our deposit.( but not without a fight!) I was nervous about doing all the work, but scored well with three different providers...Joel's company being one of them. Joel and his employee ( future firefighter-in-training") cheerfully took on the task , providing us with before and after photos. It is hot , difficult work and we are happy with the results. While in the attic, the young worker discovered a disconnected vent..that several others who had been up there never noticed or ignored. Joel was very honest about what he does and can't do. He was the most pleasant of the four companies I spoke with ..and that is big plus in the trades. Would highly reccomend.

Over the past few years, leaks hit us in three different locations. We had our roof re-done ,and then replaced soffits, downspouts and gutters. Manny convinced us to do everything at once, and that included replacing the wood cladding. Our house has some tricky corners and ice dams build up in one. For a week, Manny and his very able and hard-working assistants laboured intensively and the final product is stunning. We look like we have a new house! I know the crew is proud of the work they did here, and they should be. We initially went with another company, and that (thankfully!) fell apart. Manny not only offered us a variety of colours andchoices, unlike the other contractor ( basic beige ivory blah), but came out in advance for consultation on two separate occasions. He also did NOT demand a downpayment, like the other contractor(with whom we had a major fight to get it back after work uncompleted): we paid promptly upon completion..and it was worth every cent. Manny followed up with us after a near tropical thunderstorm ( no leaks) which we appreciated. We truly enjoyed having this crew work on our home; their hard work, their clean-up and honesty. There are too many dishonest folk out there(we met one!) and it is a gamble when you make a choice. So happy our gamble paid off..and we are so pleasedto have made Manny's acquaintance.

We are not very handy and the small jobs were piling up. Glen spent the morning installing smoke alarms,broken door knobs,and hanging several pieces of small art work. The crowning moment was the installation of our brushed nickel house number...something two others failed to do.( in fact one of the numbers was broken...and Glen fixed that! )We liked his cheerfulness,his ability to problem solve and the fact that he had a toolbox full of everything each job required.We are thrilled to have found someone of his calibre!

There is no need to travel to Toronto to find beautiful works of art- if you live in the GTA.I discovered this gem a year ago and have made it a destination. Owners Kelly and Susan are warm, welcoming individuals who truly love art-and graciously share their knowledge of both the artist and the work.They have an exciting roster of artists (painters and photographers) and will bring works to your home to try out.(How many businesses do this without obligation?)Their inventory includes some of the best talent in the country-and I have been very happy with my selections- whether they end up on a wall in my home -or as wedding or shower presents for a good friend. I also give Kelly and Susan high marks for their up-to-date website. Unlike some gallery sites- they include the price- which is typical of their direct and honest approach. They are very customer friendly-which is why art-lovers keep going back.

We clicked with Jeff immediately. Personable & honest: he conveyed a mix of confidence and concern( in a good way) We are relatively new to the renovation scene and had a very unpleasant experience with our first bathroom reno ( Opal Baths) I was terrified about having any more work done- but having found Homestars- began my search in earnest. Jeff was very collaborative( I wanted a specific tile for the shower and we went to more than one place to find it)It is good when a contractor doesn't feel 'beholden' to once source. Having said that- we looked to Jeff for products that were proven- and went with his suggestions for almost everything else.(Accessories stayed in my domain) Anyway, renovation is about the quality of work, not just selling a product.Employee Chris P. came into our home , and I can say without hesitation: wow! what a workhorse. He was here to get his hands dirty: not chat on the phone - or be driven by long breaks and lunchhours.He is a tall man and ripping out the ugly, outdated originals of this room must have seemed claustrophobic at times.But his strength was matched with his innate common sense: I liked the fact he was a problem solver- rather than ," oh well, we've got a schedule, let's just get this done " kind of attitude.He was also unfailingly pleasant and had a wonderful sense of humour. The other Chris,Jeff's son- also came in on a supervisory capacity and was wonderful to work with as well. The entire project took almost three weeks -and it shows! The room is just simply gorgeous.It is no surprise to me that Jeff scoops up accolades from his clients and peers. He is very protective of his reputation in an industry that sometimes has no sense of history. I also know that if a problem crops up down the road ( and in this case that is very unlikely) - Jeff will be honourable: he truly cares about the client long after the cheque has been cashed.

WE bought this house a year ago. The old door was boring with a barely functional screen door. I searched high and low for ideas- and finally found Statements- a local company. Salesperson Nancy DeSanti spent several hours with us- digitally offering us numerous door selections. After selecting THE ONE- we waited .The door was ready just as promised-and Peter and his crew spent most of the day installing it. I was truly impressed with their work ethic,diligence and respect for our property. They worked tirelessly,answered questions cheerfully,and left us truly thrilled with the final product and installation. The new door has transformed our home - and it definitely makes a statement. You couldnt ask for better customer service.

We are thrilled with the transformation of our new front porch. Jorge respects appointment times from the original visit and estimate to the start and finish time. His father and team worked solidly in the scorching heat. They completed the work in said time;were patient with all our questions and welcomed our watchfulness. The flagstone has improved the appearance of our home: it has made us house proud!
