When the finish on our aluminum siding started losing its coating and showing metallic colours from underneath we decided to have it replaced. The house was built in 1969 and having seen others in the neighbourhood remove theirs, we learned that absolutely no insulation had been placed between the siding and the dry wall when these houses were built. So, better to have it replaced and insulation added at the same time. Looked through the companies listed here on Home Stars, read the reviews, and chose Custom Aluminum Windows and Siding and are very glad we did. First came Vlaz, the Director of Sales. He sat with us, answered all of our questions, explained everything that we needed to know and was extremely helpful in every way, not leaving until we were completely satisfied with all the information provided. (And yes, because of Covid, we wore masks and kept the required distances.) The following week, David and Mojo arrived to start the work. These two men are very pleasant in every way, very hard-working, very diligent, and very skilled. They too answered all our questions and took the time to explain the work they were doing as it went along. Within 4 days, the old siding was removed, solid insulation was installed and then over it, the new vinyl siding. The treatment around the windows was so well done and is so attractive that it makes our windows look new. We like it all very much! At the end of each and every day, David and Mojo cleaned up everything perfectly. Not the tiniest thing was ever left anywhere on our patio, sidewalks, or lawn. Our house looks very good with its new siding, very updated and attractive. Many passers by have commented on how good it looks and how much they like it, too. We needed to have stairlifts installed for the 3 flights of stairs in our home. Christine Aikin, a Senior Advisor, came to our home to discuss them with us and to assess our needs. She was very pleasant and helpful and answered every question. She did not rush us and was thorough with all of her replies as well as with her advice. - A short time later, Rodrigo, Felice, & Patrick came to install the 3 stairlifts. They were very pleasant, professional, and thorough. They, too, answered all of our questions with no rushing involved. They left everything spotless and made sure we knew and understood exactly how to use the stairlifts which included trial runs. We can't speak highly enough of all 4 of the Stannah staff. Their stairlifts can be rented for temporary use, but we decided to purchase and have them ready for any possible future needs. We are happy with our choice and highly recommend them. We are very satisfied with Stannah, their lifts, their staff, and their work. It was also reassuring to read all the positive reviews for them online, beforehand. We highly recommend them.

Our home is a back split with 3 sets of stairs which were becoming a problem from time to time. We had a lift installed on each 3 of them and it has made life so much easier! (You can also have one custom made to go down and up all 3 levels instead of the 3 separate ones we chose.) Christy, a Senior Advisor was great to work with. She spent time with us, answered all our questions, and supplied everything we needed to know. The team of Rodrigo, Felipe, and Patrick were totally professional, polite, and courteous. They took time to answer every question, took care of all our needs and questions, made sure we fully understood and practiced the use of the stair lift before leaving and left everything spotless. I can't praise them all highly enough! I was concerned about feeling secure riding on them, but my first experience took care of that immediately. They feel very secure and have a very smooth ride. They also have many great safety and other features. I especially like the way the chair can be turned at the top of the stairs for easy, safe exit. I highly recommend the Stannah company, their team, and their stairlifts!

We've been using Williams and Prior for a few decades now, ever since moving to our house in the early 1970s. Ken and his staff are always efficient, on time, patient with explanations and good with suggestions. They leave the premises cleared of any and all debris left by the work done. We are happy with their dependability, their professionalism, and the quality of the work done. This time, we had extra outlets installed on 3 levels so that we no longer need to be concerned about how many electronics are plugged in all at once. As well, separate lines were used for these outlets to ensure this. We are happy not to have to continue using power bars. We highly recommend Williams and Prior to anyone needing electrical work done!

Last month, we made a horrible discovery - our crawl space was completely covered in mould! The discovery came when we opened our basement door one day and were overwhelmed by its smell. We do our laundry in the basement regularly and had not smelled a thing. It seemed to spring up overnight. However, it would have been growing there for years before getting to that stage. Not having any reason to go into it the space, we didn't spot it. Unfortunately, our children had stored cardboard boxes of belongings in it some years ago. Those boxes and their contents were all covered in mould and had to be thrown out. Green Life Restoration Services came to our rescue. We are grateful to have found them, most especially because they do not use chemicals to remove the mould. Even more, their botanically-based disinfectant, even with our allergies and sensitivities, was one we could deal with. They arrived very quickly and took extensive precautions to remove the moulds, protect themselves in doing so, and securing the area so nothing spread outside of it. They had to grind the surface of the basement floor and concrete block walls to remove it and apply the disinfectant to the wooden joists and backs of our cellar stairs. Once done, they kept the area sealed with a HEPA filter running in it for 48 hours to clear out all mould left in the air. It is a tremendous relief to have it all gone! Joseph Campbell, their Product Manager, was extremely helpful and very thorough. He took all the time necessary to explain everything to us, to give us all options, and to answer all of our questions. We recommend Joseph and Green Life Restoration Services most highly!

Last month, we made a horrible discovery - our crawl space was completely covered in mould. We arranged for its removal, but afterwards it was also necessary to have our ducts cleaned to remove any remnants hiding there. A nice man from Ontario Duct Cleaning arrived and very efficiently got to work cleaning out our ducts. We appreciated his consideration, his answers to all of our questions, how very personable he was, and the professional way he did his work. We recommend him and Ontario Duct Cleaning most highly!

We found Toronto Concrete Repairs here on HomeStars and called for a free estimate. We needed help with several hairline cracks and one larger one on our verandah which caused leaks into our cold cellar when raining or snowing. Our rusty, peeling, iron railings were also in need of work. Both Hubert and Paul are very pleasant to deal with, answered all questions to our satisfaction, explained all the choices available, and showed us samples of refinishing choices. They got to work quickly and removed the previous surface on the cement; treated the bottom of the railing posts to prevent future rust deposits on the verandah surface; scraped the rust away from the railings and repainted them; repainted the section by the stairs so it would coordinate in colour with everything else; repaired the one serious crack (the others turned out to be just in the polarcrete covering, not into the concrete base); put a wonderful new surface on our verandah. It looks greatl and we are receiving many compliments on how it looks. We are very happy and pleased with it and with them! I recommend Hubert and Paul most highly. They are very personable, work hard, make sure everything is understood, patiently answer all questions, and are very particular that their work is done well and to their exacting standards. We enjoyed meeting them; were happy to have found them; are full of praise for their work and attention to detail. We recommend them most highly!

Last October, we had Pro-Loc do what we considered a major task for us - replacing our driveway, front walk, front steps and sidewalks on both sides of our house, plus a new patio across the back. However, we waited to post this review until landscaping was done this year, the better to show their work in our photos. 

Paul was great to work with and his job estimate was the best we received. We especially appreciated the fact that he worked with what we wanted. Paul listened! His crew were pleasant, very hard-working, and meticulous. We are very pleased with the results, not only because of the vast improvement on our old driveway, steps, and walkways, but because of how greatly the appearance of our home has been enhanced and most especially, the comfort. It’s lovely now to walk around our house on perfectly level and attractive surfaces. They raised the level of our front walk just enough to enable steps with heights that are extremely easy and comfortable to climb. Everyone who visits is immediately surprised as they climb them and comment right away on that fact, along with the beauty of all the rest of their work.

 We only had one concern which has nothing to do with their worth ethic nor their expertise. When cutting stone, which raises a lot of stone dust, none of the men wore protective masks or glasses. It certainly didn’t affect their workmanship nor their expertise and is in no way meant as a criticism. It just concerned us in regard to their health. If you need this kind of work done, we highly recommend them!

Daniel and his crew replaced our gates and installed a fence for us. Since our gates join one another, our neighbour requested that Daniel replace his as well, and match it to ours. He told us afterwards, how very pleased he is with his new gate, the workmanship, and Daniel. We, too, are tremendously pleased with Daniel and his crew, their attention to detail, timing, commitment, and the work done for us. Daniel is very pleasant and pleasing to work with along with being a true professional. His crew were attentive, hard-working, and pleasant as well. We love the fence and not only the look of our new gates, but how perfectly they function. Once everything was installed, we began receiving compliments from passers by who admire his work as much as we do, something which continues to happen on a regular basis. We are pleased every time we look at our fence and gates. We love them! We are happy to have found Daniel and Element Fence here on HomeStars and we recommend him most highly!
