After a very heavy rain (15cm in 1 night) landing on high levels of snow & ice, 2" deep of water got into our cold cellar vent, flooding the cold cellar & leaking into our finished basement. Corey at FirstOnSite Restoration arrived within 30 min. of my call. Assessed the work & equipment required. Then he dispatched a crew to my home within an hour! Corey waited for the crew to arrive to give them instructions & oversee their work set-up before leaving. 2 staff put new neoprene floor runners & tarps to protect my new wool carpet from wet items, moved all items in wet cold cellar area to a dry, tarped area in my basement, did the water extraction, sanitized all floors & rugs, set up 2 air movers & a commercial dehumidifier for 3 days. They also repaired a rip we found in my vapour barrier in the unfinished room adjacent to cold cellar. Corey also worked the numbers to give us a much better price. What great service & staff! We highly recommend them! Have already passed their contact info to 2 friends!

Worst painters we’ve ever had! Very sloppy. Dropped paint drips all over our brand new pre-oiled red oak hardwood floors causing permanent damage as the paint got absorbed into the grain before it was cleaned up. Painted right over unpaintable silicone around windows, hockey decals, stickers, tape on kids’ doors & walls. Did not sand & prep surfaces so indentations from previous faux finish & old closet repair shows. Left paint drips on walls & doors where none existed before. Missed painting the recessed panels of bedroom doors (only painted the raised panels). Sloppy cutting of focal wall edges & around door knobs so the semi-gloss trim paint still shines after it was painted satin finish! They re-installed our closet organizers incorrectly (eg. put the supports in back in wrong places where they did not support the hanging clothes!). My husband & I have had to do repairs on it because even if they came back twice & said they would fix things, they still missed stuff & they caused new problems (eg. paint spatter from the repair over white trim that had no spatter on it before!). Devil may care attitude. No pride of workmanship from this crew!! And inappropriate behaviour (eg. hands all over me trying to schmooze). BEWARE!!

We are repeat customers because they did such a superb job in 2009 at a reasonable price. They were kind enough to put all our heavy furniture back on the deck when it dried. And the stain job lasted 3 years!! This year we had a rocky start with SealTech. The owner, Ryan, gave us the same price we paid 4 years ago (quoted by his lovely wife) without coming out to see the deck job (on a ravine so it was 1-storey above the patio; 2-storey lattice wall on one side). I sent him pictures to jog his memory. It seems the job should've cost more so Chris called him & he gave them the choice to leave the job after all furniture & bbq had been removed & stain had been stripped off! Can you imagine?! We were having company over that weekend & they knew it! So I offered to pay them $250. more in cash & they completed the job over 3 visits due to rain preventing completion. The job was done beautifully in the end, like last time. Day 3: Richard replaced some questionable spindles that Chris pointed out to us the prior visit (for a cash tip, spindles supplied by us & painted by Richard) . Altho' he could've installed them better (upright, even spacing), it will do. But they wouldn't send anyone to come back when the paint dried to put the furniture back without an extra $250. because we were too far (2 heavy pieces: cast aluminum dining table & huge bbq)! They were an honest, reputable company in 2009 but I'm starting to wonder about this year's business practices. Being based in Scarborough, they find Mississauga is 'too far'. They shouldn't advertise in Mississauga if they don't want business from here. We recommend them again but beware the pricing upcharges at the last-minute. If you hire them, make sure Ryan or Chris come to see the job so there is no misunderstanding about scope of work.

Master Bedroom re-do was beautiful. She's skilled at colour choices. Where she falls short is in the details. Our pillow shams were missing an entire section of contrast fabric. She fixed the problem, sent it back BUT at our cost. But the outcome was beautiful so I didn't mind. 5 yrs later when the window sheers started to shred for no reason, she GRUDGINGLY agreed to obtain us more fabric. She made it clear that she was tooo busy for this (after having been her clients since 1999!). When I spoke to the manufacturer as to what I could do to prevent this from happening again, they advised that this fabric's composition makes it unsuitable for areas that have a lot of sun exposure. The fabric will disintegrate. Why didn't Gabriele, the expert, know this & give us different fabric to choose from? Then when the other window panel started to disintegrate 6 months later, she misled us & said the manufacturer no longer had fabric. I contacted them myself & found out there were 30 yards left. When I told her this, she said she could order it but we needed to buy 18 yards @ her marked up price. I had my very experienced seamstress measure out my panels & she only needed 11 yards. So after all the nonsense with this designer, I bought direct from the manufacturer, got 30% off the msrp,$300. & labour only cost me $140.!! She was charging $750.! For all of these reasons, we could never recommend her.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Deliver what clients order accurately. If you make a mistake, don't make them pay for the mistake. Treat long-time clients well. They helped you get your start & may lead to future clients.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Always get a 2nd quote even if the company was recommended by someone you know! We trusted she would be fair. We liked her & her ideas. Until time told us the truth about her & her expertise/ professionalism.

At Gabriele Pizzale Design Inc. we pride ourselves in our customer service. It was unfortunate that we were unable to resolve this situation.

Design ideas were good. Her electrical sub-contractors did all the work on time & on budget, They were great (RJ Electric)! However, we found her pricing excessive especially when we wanted to make changes. She never followed through to provide us the spec sheet of all the light fixtures' make/ model & design plan. After-sales service terrible. 3 yrs later we still don't have our design plan or specs of our very expensive Kirsch light fixtures. Last year some light fixtures just stopped working. Should've still been under warranty but when we tried to contact her work/ home phone/email, we got no reply. Hire her sub-contractor RJ Electric (Ron) instead. He got back to me -- but still hasn't come to fix the problem so we'll see! Buyer beware. You don't always get what you pay for.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Deliver the services you promise in your scope of work (eg. design plan & specs of materials used). Follow-up with warranty problems on light fixtures under manufacturer warranty.

Withhold 10%! But everyone just says "don't worry. you can trust us." Some people you can, some you can't. This lady does not follow up.

Streetsville Location: From scheduling the appointment, supplying the toilet, toilet seat bidet & kitchen faucet, disposal of old toilet & faucets, repairing the leaky laundry faucet, Les was a pleasure to work with. He kept the work area protected & clean & was very careful in our home. He was professional & on time. Best of all, he solved the problems at a fair price with a reasonable warranty. Almost 6 yrs. later, we have had no issues with the installations/ repairs. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter!
