Nolbert was the most responsive of anyone who bid on my project. I had 5 homes on my block needing eavestrough cleaning and 6IXShine was the first and best quote. That said, I don't usually go for the lowest quote but Nolbert was really forthcoming with scheduling the work, checking the houses on Google Streetview and getting the job done. My neighbours are pleased. I'm pleased and we will definitely use him next time. Maybe we can keep him employed for a whole week next time with all the houses on the block! Thanks Nolbert. It was a pleasure.

Needed a new shingle roof over a kitchen extension and on a carport. Master Roofing provided a great quote and also made a recommendation for a flat roof on the carport that worked out terrific. The crew was great, site all cleaned up and work done right on schedule. Thanks Jay for a great experience. THe workmanship is great. I would recommend in an instant.

Hi Kevin, Many thanks for your review and it was our pleasure to work on your project.

We have a VERY rustic basement shower with exposed piping. It was fitted with two outdoor time handles and the hot and cold were reversed. We've had to replace these taps before because of wear and tear and when Grizzly came in to quote on the job, they suggested we go with a mixing valve. We got the quote appointment very quickly and once I'd purchase my choice of three-way mixing valve (Home Depot), I called and got an appointment right away for installation. The job was completed quickly and properly and the job site was cleaned up extremely well. They were punctual for both appointments and both Brad and Kyle are great guys with a lot of experience. I'd use them again without a second thought.

This is the second time we've had Adriano complete repairs and we couldn't be happier with the service. In this case, our dryer broke just days before we had a housesitter moving in so it had to be done pronto as our our holiday laundry had yet to be completed. Adriano came the next day and all is well again. Great service and always effective repairs and even some preventive maintenance which is greatly appreciated.

This is the second time we've used Tom and his crew. Terrific work - always leaves the worksite so clean afterward and really fair pricing. We had a 15 ft Blue Spruce that was badly in need in shaping and pruning. They did a great job on it. Looks like the quintessential Christmas tree now! Our prior job with Tom was the removal of some limbs and lifting of the canopy of a neighbour's tree. He did that job working around our fully blooming garden and I lost nary a flower. I'd recommend him without reservation.

I was referred to Adriano by another highly rated appliance service firm and was very pleased overall. First, I had already done some research and was aware of the part that was required and Adriano didn't feel the need to question this or argue; he simply sourced the part, made an appointment with me and was there right on the dot. Some service organizations will surcharge the part. Adriano did not. His rate was very reasonable considering he had to travel to pick up the part. It may seem simple but he was the first service person to ever bring appliance skids to protect my slate floor! Adriano is very personable, he performed the repair quickly and efficiently, testing everything afterward and when he left, my range was new again. I would recommend Desi Appliances to anyone needing a repair job.

I had Same Day Appliance Service come on Sunday Sept 1st to fix a washer making loud clicking noises on the spin cycle. In 15 minutes the technician diagnosed the issue as a belt and committed to returning Tuesday the 3rd for the repair. When I called to book, they told me that there was a $75 service call fee if we didn't proceed with the repair but that this would be credited to the labour cost if we proceeded. The bill today was $214 and then tax. I asked that the bill be broken down as parts and labour and the technician argued that he didn't charge by the hour, but by the job. He was here a total of 30 minutes in the two days. He conceded the belt cost was $56 which left $158 of the bill for labour - which was outrageous. We agreed that I would pay the pre-tax amount but I still informed the technician that I was convinced the $75 fee was in this cost despite what I was told and that I was going to write a very bad review about the company. This didn't seem to bother him. So, they were prompt and came on a weekend and kept their appointments perfectly. The washer is indeed working and working well but the cost was ridiculous for the ordering and installing of this very simple part.

What could this company do to improve their services?
They need to uphold their fee structure and support that was documentation and separate invoices by parts and labour.

I called Toronto Appliance Repair in November 2009 as my dishwasher wasn't filling. They sent out a repairman who diagnosed the problem as the water intake hose. Since he didn't have a replacement on hand, he reversed the direction of this hose and this allowed water to flow. he wasn't sure how this would 'hold up' so he wrote on my work order that the hose would have to be replaced if any further problems. He said they would waive the service call ($78) if they had to return. I called today as the dishwasher isn't getting the dishes clean. yes, it's 4 months after the fact but we don't use it that often and I had to be sure this was a real situation. I spoke with the Service Mgr, Chris who refused to honour this agreement. He said he could 'guarantee' it wasn't the intake hose yet he questioned me "what does this mean, he reversed the hose?". I said, just come and replace the hose, I'll pay parts and labour and it in fact this DOESN'T fix the issue, I'll call them yet again to diagnose the issue. He refused. So I have not called Aubrey's Appliance Repair as it is well reviewed here and I"m sure I will get satisfaction.

There is simply nothing Elite about Jay McDonald's Elite Construction and Renovations. Everything about having Elite complete this kitchen renovation was an issue. Jay is not customer centric and he clearly did not have our best interests in mind throughout the 3 week renovation. Jay looks after Jay. Here is my story. The very first day of the demolition it came to light that the joists in my kitchen ceiling were sagging and had to be dealt with before the new drywall ceiling could be constructed. The house is nearly 100 years old. Jay McDonald offered me two options. Rip out the joists and start again, which wasn't practical and would have caused a lot of collateral damage or jack up the joists, sister some new ones and go on from there. Jacking up these joists (which were not in danger of collapse and were still structurally sound) would have caused a great deal of cracking and damage to the second floor plaster walls which I was not prepared for, but which at the time seemed like the only option. That evening I consulted with a few other people who had some expertise in this area and the consensus was, DON'T JACK. There was a third option all along that Jay didn't share with me. That was, square off the ceiling area with new sistered joists and proceed from there. When I presented this option to Jay the following morning, he said fine we'll go that way. I even had an architect neighbour come and assist me in dealing with Jay which Jay resented enormously. He sarcastically mentioned "your engineer buddy" several times throughout the day. That was the first moment that I started to lose confidence in Jay and began to realize that Jay was in this for himself and not us homeowners. Next began the ceiling construction and Jay did not employ drywallers for this task. It took an entire day for 9 panels to be placed and that was working with a drywall lift! At the point this was finished, there was a very obvious rough edge where two panels met that looked like one panel was cut with a butter knife. I brought this to the attention of the guys doing the drywall who insisted this would be covered by the tape and mudding process. Tape and mud went up and the seam was still clearly visible. Then I was told that they had an expert who would do the final mudding and sanding and he would conceal this seam. Expert or not, it took too much material and I now have a VERY VISIBLE bulging seam. Jay's response to this? "I think it's a great ceiling for a drywal ceiling.". This was the moment I realized that I had to watch everything that was happening because clearly Jay wasn't. Jay's motto: Admit no wrong. Blame everything else. Throughout the rest of the process there were numerous conflicts with Jay. He thought nothing of yelling at me or berating my opinions. He just kept saying he did this all the time and I should just let him get on with it. He was beligerent with me and made it clear that he felt I was the problem, not him. I will say this. Jay has access to some good subcontractors. The tile work was very good as was the electrical. However after running all over town looking for a specific coloured grout for my slate floor, I am now having grout haze problems with efflorescence and despite my complaints, Jay has done nothing about it nor offered any useful advise, counsel or remedy. He just shrugs his shoulders in an "oh well" kind of way and I have to live with my grout colour variations that go from moss (my intended choice) to predominantly grey. When it came to painting we had yet another arguement when I insisted they clean up the drywall dust before starting to apply paint. Common sense. Best practice for paint application. But no, Jay had to argue and fight about it and only when I absolutely insisted did he acquiesce. His rationale was that the drop cloths were protecting the newly laid floor and should remain undisturbed despite being covered in drywall dust. Ultimately the drops were removed and rosin paper was laid to protect the floor. After all the arguing and undue stress. By the time the whole ordeal was over, I couldn't wait to see the last of him. Unfortunately I have a drywall seam, grout haze, and a lousy French door paint job to remind me of Elite Construction.

At the first sign your contractor isn't owning his issues, call him on it and ensure going forward that he/she understands that they own the job.

I first engaged Athletic Plumbing to bring a cold water line to my new refrigerator in a kitchen renovation. During the discussion, I mentioned to Shawn Benoit a couple of issues I'd had with the plumbing and he was quickly able to diagnose the issue. Shawn did so in an honest and straightforward manner and was clearly NOT creating work for his company. I found Shawn and his apprentice Mathi to be extremely honest, hard working, considerate, detail oriented and remarkably good natured given the fluid situation we were dealing with. No pun intended. Shawn was able to seamless cooperate with my contractor, made himself available when he was needed and was so good natured about the entire process. Shawn was extremely knowledgable and was able to explain everything clearly and concisely. He goes that extra mile for his customers and I found that to be very helpful during the taxing reno. I would wholeheartedly recommend Shawn Benoit and Athletic plumbing to anyone looking to have plumbing work done. Big jobs or small. most importantly Shawn did not overprice his work. He was very reasonable.
