This is my second time using Eclipse Roofing and working with Eduart and his crew. For context, my house has mostly a flat roof, but the front of the house has Victorian style steeply pitched-roofs. In 2020, Eduart and his crew replaced the house's flat roof, the roof under my 3rd-storey deck, rebuilt the deck in a way that would not require screwing holes into the new roof, replaced the siding by this deck, and added leaf-guards to my existing eavestroughs. I had chosen Eclipse due to the comprehensive quote, and my confidence in Eduart's expertise, especially his solution to the roof under the 3rd-floor deck, which had caved in a bit and was not draining well (it was original to the house, so approx 23 years old). At the time of that work, Eduart advised that the shingles on the pitched roofs were still in good shape, due to the steep slope. Last year (2023), someone came to my door saying they were roofers working down my street, and pointed out a loose shingle, and offered to quickly fix it for cash. Obviously, with the news coverage on people being swindled by door-to-door roofers, I declined. But I called Eduart, who came to examine the situation. He advised that it's time to start considering the replacement of the shingles on this pitched roof, if not in 2023 then 2024. He provided a quote, which I felt was high, but he explained the rationale - we're dealing with high steeply sloped roofs, with a tree in the front of the house, and electrical lines at the side. Because I had some other work scheduled on the house, I decided to defer the roof work. In the meantime, when Eclipse had a team working in my area, they came by and secured the loose shingle for me. I didn't see a bill. There were a lot of storms and harsh winds in the last year, and I felt it was time to update the pitched roofs this year. For due diligence, I contacted a couple of other Homestars well-rated roofing companies to get quotes. Their quotes were similar to what had been quoted to me. So I asked Eduart if he would honour the quote from last year, and he agreed. It only made sense to continue using Eclipse since I was happy with their work in 2020, and I trusted Eduart. I also asked Eduart if the crew could lift up the leaf guard and seal off a spot in my eavestroughs where there was dripping, and there was no problem to add in that work. From my call to confirm that Eduart would honour his year-old quote, it took just over a week for the crew to arrive and get everything replaced (and it would have been sooner were it not for some storms during the week). The crew was polite, respectful of the property, and cleaned up well afterwards. Eduart came to inspect the job a couple of days later, and to accept payment. During that conversation, he mentioned that he noticed I hadn't left a review on Homestars after the first job. So this review is to ensure I rectify that situation! Back in 2020, Eduart had told me that once I'm a client of Eclipse, that they would take care of me like family. And it's true! Eduart has never not returned one of my calls / texts, whereas I have experienced being ghosted by many other companies / trades. I very much value the customer service offered by Eduart and team and would not hesitate recommending Eclipse Roofing.

I recently hired Strong Plumbing, based on excellent HomeStars reviews, to work on installing a sump pit, and updating a very old sump pump (that did not have a sump pit). I concur with the excellent rating for this company. Valentin was always quick to communicate via text when I got in touch. I had cautioned that the area where my old sump pump sits is pretty tight, and he came prepared with multiple sizes of sump pits to ensure one would fit. The work was completed in a day by Valentin, Dennis (sp?) and another person (I didnt catch his name), and everything was cleaned up nicely. Valentin also provided all the links needed to the City of Toronto Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy program, and provided the itemized receipt and photos needed for the application. I recommend Strong Plumbing wholeheartedly.

I contacted Tim on a Monday, and he (and his son) were able to drop by the next day to help me clear out a heavy mattress (with no handles) and old TVs from the basement. They were on time, did the work quickly, and stayed within the quote (even when I threw in one more item). Service was polite, clean (they made sure to wipe shoes before entering due to snow) and they wore masks (due to Covid lock-down). I had called a few companies, and Tim's quote was in the same ballpark as the others (got some higher quotes, and some lower). The reason I chose Tim was that I knew he would be coming, instead of a big company sending in a random crew. I would not hesitate to contact Junk Canada again.

After seeing the reviews on Home Stars, I contacted Engineered Alarm Solutions Inc. to inquire about the rough cost of connecting my old existing hardwired system to a monitoring centre. Gabriel provided a rough verbal quote and I asked him to come in to take a look at my existing system. Gabriel was highly knowledgeable but also respectful of the fact that I wanted to minimize any added costs, since I already have a hard-wired system in the house. He provided the pros and cons of recommended changes / upgrades, but was never pushy. He also offered me different options so that I can gauge the costs myself. He sent me the necessary information in a quote (which matched his verbal quote!) for me to take the time to review the details and make a decision. Once I made the decision to proceed, Arash came by and made the installation. Arash did work a little harder at "selling" some upgrades (such as a better keypad, which I ultimately opted for), but overall, he was professional and polite. Thank you to Gabriel for providing guidance on the current technology security systems. I'm happy with my upgraded system, and already inadvertently tested the system by accident! All worked well. :)

My concrete stairs needed repair and resurfacing, a part of the metal railing had rusted and detached from the base, and some brickwork required replacement and parging. I contacted SVD Restoration and Peter arrived in the evening to provide a quote. Although Peter had suggested there may be a wait for the work to get started, the job was actually completed ahead of schedule. Peter and his skilled crew did an excellent job. Peter coordinated his team to efficiently complete the job in about four working days. The end results show the the craftsmanship of all involved. It is clear that Peter and his team are proud of what they do. I would not hesitate to recommend SVD Restoration.

After looking around for painters, I stumbled upon Homestars and found Premium Painting and Decor. I was impressed by the many positive reviews and called up Nestor Velez for a quote. Although his quote was on the high-end of 3 quotes I obtained, I was impressed by Nestor’s dedication to quality. Additionally, Nestor showed no hesitation in providing me with his WSIB info when I asked, because I was concerned that the job required high ladder work (3.5 storeys) plus a tree obstruction. Nestor and his assistant Juan were very professional (proper prep, caulking and meticulous painting), polite and very respectful of my home. Nestor was great at communicating promptly on any issues, such as scheduling, and also provided status updates during the work. Due to wet weather delaying the start of the job, they even worked over the weekend to make up some time to try to stay to the original timeline. The job took slightly more time than expected only because Nestor wanted to ensure the Hardrock product on the exterior stairs had proper curing time. Overall, we are very happy with Nestor’s work, and have no hesitation in recommending Nestor and Premium Painting and Decor to anyone looking for quality work.
