John came to my home and was extremely helpful in not only finding and offering a great product that suits my home but he was also very helpful in working within the budget I gave him. There was no pressure sales tactics and no attempt to up-sell me on the blinds. He was very accommodating and very very knowledgeable about not only the products he sells but on the industry as a whole. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend John to anyone looking for blinds. Keep up the great work John!

Company Response

Thank you very much Lorne. You were a pleasure to work with. I hope the window coverings beautify your home for years to come.
Thanks John McLachlan

I have now used Insta-Insulation to spray foam my basement, second floor, garage and had them remove all of the old insulation in my attic and spray foam the attic deck and fill it with cellulose. This has been done in phases and each time the company came to my home they were on time, courteous and very knowledgeable. The spray foam has made a huge difference in my heating bills and when I am ready to complete the spray foam project by doing my main floor I won't hesitate to have Insta-Insulation back to complete the work. Great job! Lorne Babiuk

I hired Consumers to install 4 doors in my house. When Jason came to measure them I told him while he was measuring that the basement door was an odd size. We agreed on a price and an install date. 3 weeks later he called to say he 'missed' that it was an odd size and the install would have to be delayed 3-4 weeks. I said I couldn't wait but he then talked to his manager and they promised it would only be a week late. I understand mistakes happen so I agreed to the delay. Another week passed and I get a call from someone named Stan and he informs me that the doors will be delayed another 2 to 3 weeks. I told him then that I wanted to cancel as the delays caused by their mistake was putting my project way behind schedule. I then get and email, not a courtesy phone call, from General Sales Manager R.J. (Ron). He emailed to point out that if I read the small print on the contract they have a bunch of extra time they have built in due to things out of their control (even though this delay was caused by their mistake) and he intended to install the doors or take me to court. Mr Share ended his email to me with the line 'Govern yourself accordingly.' Who says that to a potential client??? Not wanting to be sued I let the project go ahead. They finally gave me an install date. The day before they were supposed to come they changed the install date to later in the week. Paul and his crew came and installed the doors and they did a very good job on the install and the doors look good. This is the only reason I'm giving them a 1 and not zero. My doors were all supposed to be keyed alike and this didn't happen. I made an appointment with Consumers for their guy to come out last week and change the locks. After waiting all afternoon (1-4pm window) I called Consumers and they assured me the guy was coming. He never showed up. I made a new appointment for today between 1-4 and he hasn't shown up again. I called Consumers again (now 5pm) and they have again assured me that he is on the way..... Right. Couldn't be more disappointed with this company and would strongly advise to think twice about using them. Lorne Babiuk

Company Response

To whom it may concern:

Please find our response to the above review.

With regards to Mr. Lorne Babiuk’s (of Gerrard Street in Toronto) complaints, it is important to note that it was, at all times, our intention to install the customer’s products as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

One of the four doors was back-ordered for about three weeks because of the special custom size. We suggested to Mr. Babiuk that we would be pleased to install three of the four doors and return to install the fourth door in question when it was ready (an approximate 3 additional weeks). The customer refused and insisted that he wanted them all to be installed at the same time.

At all times, when communicating with Mr. Babiuk, conversations were always difficult and it was reported from many of the female staff members that he was not only unprofessional, but was arrogant, used bad language, and would hang up the phone during the call.

The only minor outstanding issue following installation was that the manufacturer provided locks with individual keys instead of all of the locks operating with one key (this service has since been performed). Contrary to Mr. Babiuk’s statement, an appointment was booked for October 1, 2013 and Mr. Babiuk did not show and did not answer his cell phone. The service appointment, therefore, had to be rebooked.

Mr. Babiuk signed a completion certificate indicating his complete satisfaction. However, it is a fact that unfortunately, some people try to avoid their financial obligations. At the time of writing, we have received only one dollar from Mr. Babiuk in payment and there remains an outstanding debt of $9,876.00.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Babiuk is not happy with our company, especially since in his review, he states that, “Paul and his crew came and installed the doors and they did a very good job on the install and the doors looked good.”

Since the balance of $9,846.00 still remains, this account, regrettably, will probably have to be collected through small claims court. We trust that he will reconsider his position, remit his outstanding balance, and join the many thousands of satisfied Consumer’s Choice customers.
