Early February we had a problem with a tub that would not drain and a toilet backed up to the rim. We called Mr. Rooter on Penn Drive, North York and a plumber was at our home an hour later. Several hours later the water drained away but there was a blockage that could not be cleared. Mr. Rooter gave us an estimate for the excavation of sub flooring, concrete etc. and replacement of the collapsed pipes. As is the way with old houses they found more problems after digging. The plumber discussed the situation, showed us why they had to do the additional work and gave us an estimate of the new costs. They told us when they would arrive each morning and they were there every day on schedule. They told us when they would cut off the water and for how long, and they were right on schedule to turn the water back on so we would have a toilet functioning. Ten days later the clay pipes were replaced in five separate areas, extremely old copper piping was replaced, a new toilet was installed and the sub floor was all replaced. When we needed to call the Mr. Rooter office, the staff who answered the phones were very helpful and cooperative and they were very quick to provide information and solutions to our questions. The staff that came to the house were very pleasant, they explained everything that they were doing, they showed us all the problems that they found and then told us how much it would cost. The excavation crew did a great job of cleaning up all the mud and concrete work that they had to do. We would like to thank Melisa, Sarah and Robin in the office. And we would like to thank Phil, Jahfaru, Richard and Doug, plumbers, technicians etc. We would also like to thank the excavation crew whose names we do not know. YES we are happy with the work that Mr. Rooter did for us. YES we are happy with all of the staff at Mr. Rooter that we came in contact with. YES we would call Mr. Rooter again, any time.

Nov. 3, 2010 In 2009 we had our 60 year old house entirely rewired by Captain Electric. We were traumatized at first when we realized the cost for the entire job, but it was in line with other prices we had received. Captain Electric gave us all the details necessary for us to chose what was the most cost effective way of bringing our home not only up to code, but much safer. They were very clean and careful doing the rewire and most importantly, they did not leave us with a nightmare of holes in walls and ceilings that required another contractor to come in after them and put our house back together again. They got all the right work permits, the inspections by the authorities went smoothly, and the job was “done right” as the saying goes. A month ago Captain Electric came back to do our first annual inspection. We did not have any problems with the work that Captain Electric had done but we had just started having problems with two separate pieces of equipment that were installed at the time of the rewire. The inspection turned up defects that had developed in these two pieces of equipment. These items have now been replaced, the new items are working just great and we are once again safe ‘electronically speaking’. Both experiences with Captain Electric have been incredibly easy. The three electricians that we had doing the job, their apprentice and the support staff are very pleasant, very informative, very helpful and very cooperative. They asked questions to determine what was best for us before they did the work and they went out of their way to explain what they were doing, why they were doing it and what it meant to us as home owners. It is an attitude that we have not experienced with other trade people. They have restored our faith in competent and honest contractors. We would definitely recommend this company and its staff. Spring of 2006 we had patio doors installed in our house by Consumers Choice. We were very happy with the job. This Spring our bungalow needed 8 new windows and again we contacted Consumers Choice. We requested the same salesman Chris Gardynik. He was extremely helpful . We were surprised to get a telephone call to say the 8 windows were all ready and they had an installation date for Friday, July 13, some 4 weeks earlier than expected. The same crew arrived to do the work, so we knew we would have a good job of installation. First 5 windows went in no problem. But, when they removed the steel siding from our big bay window the wood was so waterlogged and rotten that it was falling apart. This required a major rebuild so the retrofit windows we had ordered could be installed. The following Monday afternoon Consumers Choice gave us the price to rebuild the window, we approved the additional cost and the following day the crew started the building project. This could have been a horrible nightmare, but because of the cooperation and quick action of the staff at Consumers Choice and because of the skill of the installation crew, we have a fantastic living room window that does not leak and all the other windows that they installed are working great. Even a very good product is useless if it is not installed the right way. We would have no hesitation in recommending Consumers Choice to our friends, and we would go back to Consumers Choice again.
