Aside from a few issues (missed piano in initial quote, and then attempted to charge extra which I was annoyed about) the guys were a pleasure to work with and the company's owner Dinko did a great job fixing up a bit of wall damage that occurred. Overall pretty happy.

Hi Christine!
We have missed to quote on the small upright, indeed. But I believe this could have simply been a miscommunication between the estimator and you.
We had no issues moving the piano on the day of your move and offered you a lower rate than any piano mover but you suggested you will hire an actual piano mover.
We try to be as competitive as possible but when there is extra work like pianos, safes, etc. an extra charge will apply on top of your hourly rate to compensate the movers for their hard work. It is only fair that way :)
We ra e glad to hear that you are pretty happy overall and we hope we get the chance to impress you even more in the future!
All the best to you and your family!

I inherited a hot water rental contract with this company. So the hot water goes completely cold the other day. We call the company to come fix the hot water tank we rent. Someone comes out and replaces something. They tell us in 45 minutes we will have hot water. 4 hours later, no hot water. They come back again, replacing more parts of the hot water heater this time. They tell us there isn't enough gas, and that we need to have Enbridge come and check the gas. Great, we wait another day until the gas company can come. Gas company (good ol' Enbridge) fails to show up for the first appointment and then the next day, says NOTHING WRONG WITH THE GAS. Reliance then says they will come today between 7 and 11 to replace the tank. NOBODY SHOWS UP. Make another appointment for 4pm. Sure hope they show up! My parents had to take time off work, what an epic epic waste of everyone's' time, including Enbridge's. Then, they called me to see if I wanted to sign up for their furnace maintenance program.

I like the company and they seem to have done a decent job, but I take great issue with the following: they only give you a range of dates that they are coming (apparently only certain times of year) and will in fact REFUSE to call you the day of or give you any further notice of their arrival to do the job. This is really annoying if you for example have a dog that barks like crazy and/or napping children (and therefore need to be prepared, in advance, for people to come service the house), or are a night shift worker... among other scenarios. I had to deal with a completely exhausted child due to this ridiculous rule. I can't fathom why the workers or SOMEONE can't take the literally 45 seconds to call beforehand for the customers who do request it (as I'm sure not all of them do). Seems really unreasonable to me, and shows that they don't value their customer's needs - particularly those with young children and/or other unique needs. I'll be looking for a company that will provide me notice of their arrival in the future.

We've hired MTC Plumbing and Drains on several occasions. We first found them after a clogged pipe/snaking disaster with another company (see my other review). MTC has been super reasonable and honest (and lovely to deal with). We've since called them back for leaks and the odd plumbing issue. They always deliver and don't overcharge.

I hired Drainworks after I began having issues with my basement toilet not flushing properly. The reason I chose Drainworks for the job was because of the very positive reviews I saw online, which put me under the impression that Drainworks was a respectable and exemplary company. At first I was quite impressed with the service I received. The workers wore booties in my house (instead of just wearing shoes) and they keep me apprised of the price and the work they were doing. The workers ran a camera snake through our pipes and told me that the cause of the problem was roots in the drain. They showed me a picture of the drain to confirm this. I was informed that the pipe needed to be replaced (they gave me a quote for this) and, in the meantime, they would clear the blockage in the pipe so that my plumbing would function properly until the paper was replaced. They also snaked a gurgling drain in my kitchen sink and charged me nearly $600 (not including tax) for the work that they did. After I signed the invoice, I noticed that one of the workers wrote in a line which stated that they made me aware that their work was not covered by warranty. I want to make it extremely clear that I was NOT made aware of this at any time and I only noticed it after the fact. I found it very unprofessional for him to write on an invoice that he gave me that information when in fact he did not. After Drainworks left, my basement flooded THE VERY NEXT DAY after a small rainfall. My basement has never flooded in the past. When I saw the water seeping through my basement I called Drainworks back right away and made them aware of the problem and booked an appointment for them to come back and deal with it. I spoke to someone (who I presume is the owner), he was extremely rude, and he told me outright that Drainworks was not in any way responsible for the flooding and if they were to come back, we would be charged full rate for them to fix the problem. So, in other words, they told me that the work was not covered by warranty, so it was not their problem, even though the problem occurred the very next day. I cancelled my appointment with Drainworks and called another plumbing company immediately. The other plumbers showed up, snaked the drain (the SAME DRAIN that Drainworks snaked) and pulled out a mass of roots and showed us what they did. Ever since then, there have been several rainfalls and the basement has not flooded since. The other plumbers also assured me that if I experienced problems in the near future, they would return and deal with them free of charge. I must say that I was very shocked by the way Drainworks acted. If work is not covered by warranty, I would understand that if the flood happened a month after they did the work (or even a week), I could not reasonably expect Drainworks to be responsible for them. However, after Drainworks showed up, we experienced problems within ONE SINGLE DAY and in response, Drainworks refused to take any ownership or accountability over their work. Like I said, I found this to be surprising for a company with such a good reputation. Be aware, if you hire Drainworks to do any snaking work for you, you should know that they offer zero warranties (whether they make you aware of this not) and, as such, if you experience any problems with their work whatsoever, they will not be of any assistance and will insist on charging you for the same work twice.

Christine, we couldn’t possibly begin to address the myriad of mistruths in your review. These fabrications are in complete contradiction to our recordings, as well as the signed/authorized agreement for the work in question. We firmly believe in honesty and complete transparency in all facets of what we do; unfortunately, HomeStars has not yet implemented a system whereby an invoice for the job can be posted (blurring/blocking out all private/sensitive information, of course as privacy is of the utmost importance), putting all of these wild accusations and claims to rest. We stand by the work we do, day in, and day out. People need look no further than the multitude of positive reviews we have, addressing issues identical to yours over the years. Best of luck, going forward, with your drain problems.
