DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE!!!! I have read the previous reviews on homestars and believe them to be truthful and accurate. Last week a very nice guy named Joe came for the first visit (not being sarcastic btw) and even arrived a bit early, which was nice. He informed me the office didn't tell him it was a wall oven (which I had clearly informed them it was) and if I didn't help him lift it out and put it back he'd have to leave and come back with a second guy some other day. I wanted my oven fixed so I helped him, bad back and all. Just like reviews previously, following the diagnostic check the $80 charge for the service call disappeared and a $280 labor charge appeared + whatever part(s) was required. Now for the red flags.
#1 They wouldn't place the order for the required part unless full payment was made by cash or debit . What legitimate company springs that on you once they’re in your home? Their website says all major credit cards accepted. I strongly insisted if your debit machine is working then so is your credit card machine-it's the same machine! He allowed me to "try" my visa, acting skeptical but it went through right away, despite the "issues" they'd been having with the network.
#2 Nobody called to explain why they didn’t show up last Fri/Sat as the first tech had promised they would. I had to track them down today to find out what’s up.
#3 Denise informed me this afternoon they wouldn't be able to come for six more days. Not acceptable but c'est la vie. I mentioned having to assist the first technician with the lifting and to ensure they send a second guy the next time. She informed me a guy to help lift the wall oven would be an additional charge of $80 + HST and that next Monday wouldn't be possible. It would be a date further in the future. I could write more but I’ll stop.
Please don't be sucked in by the fact they come up #2 when you google oven repair on google.ca or the fact that someone made them a decent website. READ THESE REVIEWS THEN TURN AND RUN!!!
