Five years ago our basement flooded and Drainrock responded very quickly for cleanup and installation of an outdoor sump. They also did a video inspection of our 80-year-old perimeter drainage. Finding several broken or cracked tiles, they said the system would still function but suggested a complete replacement when possible. That project has just been completed. Bob Wilde's quote included an estimate of 10 days, and they were finished on day 9. The project was fully done to code and passed a City inspection with no problems. We've lived in the house 28 years so there's a lot of plants that could have been damaged during trenching, but we were most impressed with the care they took to work around them. In our estimation, Drainrock minimized plant loss about as much as was possible. Our second project with Drainrock Industries was just as satisfactory as the first one five years ago, and we fully recommend them.

Our 80-year-old East Van bungalow had a mish-mash of wiring: some original, some from two different renovations 20 years apart, and some DIY done by ourselves and previous owners. We decided it was time to have things brought up to code and chose Stapleton Electric because of their excellent HomeStars ratings. Derek's initial quote was for one day, but he was very straightforward to let us know that more time would be needed, but they could only tell how much time once they'd had a chance to do a complete survey. As it turned out it took four days, but some of that time was for things we didn't initially intend to do (e.g., outside motion sensor lighting), but added when we saw the quality of the work. Gino and Vinnie, the two electricians on our job, were right on time day 1, arrived at the door wearing Covid masks, and immediately asked if we'd like them to remove their shoes, which we appreciated because we've recently had all our hardwood floors refinished. We also appreciated that they did a thorough cleanup each day before the left. We couldn't be happier with the job - good people all around.

Coutts Heating has been our furnace service supplier for more than ten years. In addition to annual inspections and cleaning, Jeff also installed a new furnace, on short notice, a few years ago. Most recently, I called him on a Sunday morning when the furnace motor stopped running. He arrived in just over an hour, hoping to do the necessary repairs with parts from his truck. However, he apologized that he would have to visit his parts supplier when it opened the following morning, and would be back late in the afternoon. He actually arrived before noon and had the furnace up and running within 15 minutes. His invoice included his standard service charge, with nothing extra for the Sunday call-out. We have always found Jeff to be efficient, responsive, and pleasant to do business with, and we fully recommend him.

In order to refinish all the floors on the main floor of our house, we needed to shift furniture and appliances. After receiving a quote from another mover, we contacted Mountain Movers because of their excellent HomeStars ratings. GIven the need to let the floor surfaces dry 24-48 hours before replacing the furniture, we decided to have Mountain Movers come in 3 consecutive Mondays to first empty one half of the house, then the other half, and finally replace everything. Their minimum charge is a half day, but their quote for three half days was app. 40% of the first quote. The three-man crew were on time, efficient, and pleasant, and also asked key questions before stacking stuff, such as what we might need access to during the two weeks. We were completely satisfied with Mountain Movers and are happy to recommend them

Our 78-year-old bungalow has both maple and fir flooring, and neither had been refinished in at least 24 years. The fir was in especially rough shape. We contacted Acorn Wood Floors because of their excellent reviews on HomeStars, and Ron came to inspect the floors and give us an estimate for complete sanding and refinishing. The estimate was substantially less than we had budgeted. For the fir, Acorn used colorant felt-tip markers to try to blend in some old patches of wood filler laid by the previous owner. The work was finished in five days and might have taken even less time had we not had to do the work in two phases to move furniture back and forth. (See review for Mountain Movers Vancouver under "Moving and Storage.") We are satisfied with our new floors and with the service we received from Acorn.

Daniel was able to set up a technician for me the day after I called. Michael arrived right on time, quickly diagnosed the problem - a faulty valve - and replaced it. At our request, he also replaced the hot water shutoff. First rate service from first contact to job completion - absolutely no complaints.

The over temperature control on our 8-year-old Kenmore Pro dual-fuel range was not working. Newtech called back the same day and arranged for a technician to come the next day. The technician arrived right on time and diagnosed the problem as some loose connections in the range's electronics. He re-tightened them, confirmed the oven was working properly, and charged only the basic service fee. Good service all around and I would certainly use Newtech again.

We chose Greater Vancouver Gutters because of their 5/5 ratings on HomeStars and were completely satisfied. The two installers arrived right on time, installed new gutters, downspouts, and leaf guards on our bungalow, and were finished in three hours, including a thorough cleanup. For the quality of the finished job, we thought the cost was more than fair. GVG was completely professional from first contact to payment - highly recommended.

On Sunday evening (November 1) we found 5 cm of water in our entire basement, due to a backed-up sump. I phoned Drainrock that same evening, and a full crew was by 9:00 a.m. the following morning. They worked throughout the day with camera and snake to partially unplug the pipes leading the City drains, so that we didn't need the rented sump pump that night. They returned Tuesday morning with a root-rooter to completely remove the blockages, but also suggested that we should replace the interior sump with an external one. They gave a reasonable quote to do that job, and completed the work in 2.5 days this week. All their crews were on-time, respectful of property, and professional. We are fully satisfied with Drainrock service, especially the quick response to the flood, and recommend them without any reservations.

My washing machine drain started backing up and spilling over when it emptied. I snaked the line as best I could, and replaced a rubber grommet around the drain hose, but it didn't help. I found JJ's through HomeStars and tried them based on the reviews I read. Justin and his partner were on time, found and fixed the problem within an hour, and gave me an ecological way to help prevent future blockages. The invoice was exactly what they originally quoted. I'm happy all the way around, and would certainly use JJ's in future.
