Stoneworks Landscape Contractors, Blake and Lex, were the team any homeowner dreams of hiring. Blake quickly responded to my request for an estimate for a stone retaining wall.He provided sound advice after listening carefully to my questions and needs as well as offering a competitive price. These men were prompt, reliable, and extremely hard-working. They were diligent in keeping me apprised about every aspect of the project. I was thrilled with the final product and have had passers-by and neighbours stop to comment and get the name of the contractors. I was so pleased with their work that I asked them to come back and build an interlocking stone walkway in my back yard which work was done with equal efficiency and skill. Having tried without success to get these jobs done by other contractors who either didn't respond to calls/e-mails, didn't show up as promised or quoted outrageous prices, I was particularly struck by the integrity, courtesy and thoughtfulness of Blake and Lex. They reminded me that there are decent contractors out there; one just has to be persistent in looking. Pat Weston,On June 9,2010

Having suffered a contractor from hell for a month, I contacted Manny who bravely agreed to take over the project. It became obvious immediately that the job would be larger than he originally thought once he discovered the degree of incomptence shown in the work done by the previous contractor. Virtually everything contractor #1 had done had to be ripped out and re-done as well as the job had to be finished from there. Manny was prompt, reliable and demonstrated the highest standards of craftsmanship. He even worked a couple of Saturdays and Sundays in order to get the job done before he had to move to his next project. Manny is a thoughtful, patient, warm person who is also a consummate professional.I went from a disaster contractor to an amazing one. I wouldn't hestitate to recommend Manny. Pat , Weston

An impressive resume, glowing recommendations and a charming persona led me to hire this man for my bathroom renovation. The first week of demolition work went well. It was downhill from there on. Work hours were typically 10 a.m to 3 p.m. if he bothered to show at all( approx. 17 hrs. per wk. for the month of May).I fired him at the end of May and had paid approx. one half of the original quote by then. I was fortunate to get someone to take over. I then learned all the work done was not done to code or through the use of standard building practices. Everything had to be ripped out and re-done.Yes, everyone told me I could be a candidate for Holmes on Homes. This experience was the renovation from hell! Pat ,Weston

A friend's recommendation led me to arrange to have two living room easy chairs re-upholstered at Fine Craft. The fabric I chose had a manufacturing flaw and Kathy offered various options to me including a discount. I chose another fabric which meant the wait was extended through no fault of Fine Craft.I am thrilled with the result. Pick-up and delivery service was provided. Kathy provided thoughtful, helpful advice in the fabric selection process. She was reasonably responsible about keeping me informed as to the progress of the job. Pat, Weston

I chose CHR [Now Reach Restoration] because of the reviews on this website and I wasn't disappointed. Jim was the only one of the mortar/bricklaying companies listed on this website who returned my call for an estimate; this fact immediately sets Jim apart from so many trades/contractors in Toronto. I got lucky since Jim was able to complete my small job owing to a good weather day and his having a brief hiatus before starting a large project. Jim gave a clear, professional explanation and estimate of what he would do and why. He was also very considerate about keeping me informed as to when he would arrive and return. Jim's personable manner was a reflection of a craftsman who takes pride in his work and in the way he treats people. I do not hesitate to recommend Jim.

I called Drain Works because of the laudatory reviews on this HomeStars site.To eradicate an unpleasant drain odour in my basement meant replacing an old clay sewer pipe.Employees were prompt, courteous and efficient in dealing with a job which got a little more complicated than anticipated once the diagnosed work area was opened. As the owner of a home built in 1936, I've come to expect "surprises" and this job was no exception.Clean-up was superior to most job projects I've had in the past.Overall, the attitudes and work ethic of this company's employees make them worthy of a high recommendation.
