Griffin Decks replaced our old deck with the brand new, beautiful one. Mike is very easy to deal with, honest, approachable, great communicator. He returned my voice message (something that many contractors don't) on Monday and came over to my place the same day, gave me exact estimate, answered all my questions, offered valuable recommendations how to stay within the budget and did not push me into signing any contracts. I saw it was a complete package and I hired Mike on the spot. Here how it went – and it's an example of a well-planned project: Friday of the same week his crew demolished and removed the old deck; plus poured concrete for all posts' foundations. Saturday morning materials were delivered on my driveway and the rest of the day was left to let the concrete to harden. Sunday Mike's crew came early in the morning and did the entire job in 4 hours. I could not believe my eyes. The efficiency of his crew is hard to imagine until you see it. Quality was not sacrificed in any way – everything was done to precision. Mike insisted that I pay them only after the whole job is done and I am 100% satisfied. And that is exactly how it happened. So, if you are looking to build a deck, I strongly recommend you give Mike a phone call; you'll be glad you did.

Strongly recommend Danny if you need to seal your driveway. I have a stamped / decorative concrete driveway about 800 sq. ft. Danny did everything right (unlike the previous contractor who did the driveway) and was prompt to arrange date and time of the job. The driveway was pressure washed, dried, and had two coats of quality sealing applied with a special machinery. That's what I call a professional.

This is a belated review for the project that was completed by TileStars' guys back in November 2013. Vlad did an excellent job without exceptions. It was a small-to-medium size project - bathroom downstairs, which took 6 days to complete: tiling three walls, bathtub and shower stall with marble stone. Complexity was very high, as I understand: first, there is a delicate marble which is soft and will easily break along the beautiful "veins". So, make sure you buy 30% more material than the area to cover, if you do marble. Then I had not-so-plum walls, plus 45 degree window sills and uneven bare cement floor that had to be leveled first. Leveling of the floor had to be done first and took one full day. The guys listened to my every wish and tried to make it happen, providing valuable advice on the way. The finished work is perfect, something that me and my family enjoys now every day.

I rented a 8-cubit-yard bin from them for 2 days on my driveway to remove construction junk after my bathroom renovation. The truck driver made sure the driveway is not damaged. Absolutely no complaints. I do recommend them to anyone who needs to get rid of construction garbage.

I had 4 1/2 cubic yards concrete and dirt in black plastic bags. The price was $100 higher than renting a bin for a few days, but these guys deliver. They do the heavy lifting and leave the place clean after themselves. All done in 10 minutes. Giving them 10 points for that and for the excellent communication throughout the "exercise".

I visited many tile suppliers and decided to buy from Ciot mostly because they had a beautiful stone on display. The ordering was handled by Manal who said the order will be ready in 3-4 days. In reality the order was ready in 7 days. When it was delivered to me, all 1x2 feet tiles were not marble but porcelain with a thin layer of marble veneered on top of porcelain base. Manal told me before the delivery that floor tiles (smaller 1x1 foot ones) which constituted a mall part of the order (one eights of it) were not full marble, but veneer. Well, she got it wrong, because when it was delivered it was the bulk of the order (everything except for the small portion of 1x1 tiles) were veneer. Calling Ciot on the phone is a bad joke, they are constantly understaffed, on vacation and with the client. And I, who already payed $5000 is not a client? I am short of words to express my frustration with Ciot.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Don't give false promises about delivery dates. Ship the product that was purchased, not a "good enough" substitute.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Consider doing business with another tile supplier. E.g. Cera Gres or Tile Shoppe.

This is an update to my original review. The job has been completed in 25 days, the work looks ok, except for the crack in the middle of driveway, different tints on two sides of the crack, white blemishes from sealer applied to wet surface and my house being covered in cement. Payment vs completing the job: they demanded 50% before work started at $14/sq.ft for 650 sq.ft area and another 50% the day before pouring cement. When I originally asked for an estimate, he said it would take 2 days, 3 days tops, weather permitting. Surprises started from day one when they worked only for 3 hours and were gone for the rest of the day and well as for the next 4 days. When I asked about originally promised 3 days and good weather being royally wasted, he said they usually do it in period of 10 days. Later, when 10 days passed as well, I was told that it usually takes at least a month to complete the job. When 3 weeks passed, he said that some of his customers wait for 6 months. I would prefer is someone could be frank with me from the get go. Jus to complete the story, after demolishing and removing my old driveway, they disappeared for 4 days, 3 of which were absolutely beautiful dry and sunny September days that are not too hot or cold, just perfect for any outdoor job. Finally perfect weather came to an end with a pouring rain which lasted all day long. The very next morning, at the first sun break in the sky they came and immediately started pouring concrete, when the ground was still soaking wet and soft (too soft to pour concrete in my opinion). They did not prepare the underlayment either - did not set or compress or lever the crushed stone bed, did not put rebars or any other metal reinforcement. When pouring concrete they splashed the house with dirt, even windows on the main floor got dirty, not to mention main entrance fibreglass door with a big side glass lite all covered in concrete too. Once they poured the concrete, they disappeared again so I was left with a thick layer of a releaser dust with no way for me and my kids to enter the house without getting all dirty. They came 3 days later to wash the dust away. They also removed the wood forms and ... put them on my front yard, where it remained for more than two weeks; leaving yellowed-dead grass underneath after it was finally removed. The finished driveway now has two colors: second truck came with a different color tint and the division between two colors happen to be in the most visible area - right in the middle of the driveway. A week after concrete was poured the entire driveway slab cracked in half, top to bottom - right between two mixers. Anyone if this business knows that the concrete had to be cut the very next day after it was poured specifically to prevent it from cracking early into the curing. The concrete was eventually cut, ten days after it was poured, by a hand held gas saw, making long lines not very straight, but that is ok. What is not ok is that they covered my daughter’s stroller with dirt once again, this time with concrete dust. Was it to hard to move the stroller away? Sealing: 5 gallon sealer pile was there for a week waiting for “a professional” to come who was going to apply it with a pump. They man showed up 3 p.m. in the afternoon but could not power wash it because he lacked the connector to the water hose. So he just washed it from water hose without any pressure, which left most of the dirt where it was. It was getting dark when he started rolling the sealer (no pump); so half of the job was done in complete darkness. Don’t ask me why. Add to this that it was a rainy day with 100% humidity, meaning that the surface was absolutely wet with standing water in some spots. My take is that most if not all things that went wrong could have been easily prevented, but no one seemed to bother. A word of advice to homeowners: if you think about replacing your driveway, learn from my example and invest into a interlock instead. Even if you are not happy with original work, it is so much easier to fix or change the design of it later. Stamped concrete, in contrast, is close to impossible to fix. The only way to change anything about it is to completely demolish it and do something else from scratch.

Replaced all eves, entire soffit fascia, downpipes (added more downpipes and changed the layout) and installed alu-rex leaf guard around the house. Stas of Maxima Aluminum was a pleasure to deal with and here is why: (a) He promptly returned all my voice messages; (b) Was very punctual and always showed up on time (in Toronto traffic it's something to be respected for). (c) Not pushy. Customer focused. In a few minutes Stas explained to me everything I needed to know about the science and art of water management for residential roofing systems. Here, on the spot he gave me estimate in writing with many options to choose from. No sales like "You see that downpipe? If you buy it in-gold from ME, then and only then I will grace you with the chipest plastic leafguard on earth too" :). (d) So much so, that it was me insisting on replacing soffit fascia, not the other way around. (e) Did not ask for a downpayment. I paid everything only after the job was completed. (Have you ever dealt with a stamped concrete contractor who charged 50% upfront, demolished all your driveway and disappeared for a month? Leaving you to walk in clouds of dirt in perfectly sunny weather till he finally shows up on the day when it finally starts to rain... :). (f) Within a week Stas and his team came with materials and equipment and completed everything in two days. First day they removed old eves and soffits and installed new soffits. A huge pile of old aluminum scrap was immediately taken away. At the end of the day, they cleaned up the area and washed (!) the driveway. (g) Second day they came to install eves only. Forecast was 30% of showers. In reality, on that day it was starting and stopping to rain six times, on and off again and again. Stas and his helper kept on working and completed the work in the afternoon. The secret to their effiency was that the helper was at the same level of qualification as his boss, not having to watch the boss or wait for his instructions. I was very happy with the results. It's a quality work. Their price was the most reasonable too.

Kingsway Roofing promptly returned my phone call inquiry (in contrast to many others that never called back) and gave very reasonable price. After doing my research, I wanted some better material than a basic 3-tab shingles and ordered CertainTeed Landmark, which turned to be an excellent product. Peter and Valeriy accommodated all my requests and did the job (stripped old shingled and installed new ones) in one day, the same day the material arrived from CertanTeed. The quality of the work is fantastic. (I climbed the ladder a few days later and was amazed how could they achieve absolutely straight lines on my old house where nothing was straight.) I wish other trades were that professional.
