Pestokill gave me a $50 Homestars discount on a $350 job. The technician found and removed not one but two carpenter ant nests. As a result of finding and removing the nests, he gave me a 1 year guarantee rather than a 6 month guarantee. About a month after the treatment, I had swarmers around the site of one of the former nests. Another technician came out within two days of my call, treated the infestation and cleaned up the debris. So far, my house appears to be ant-free. Pestokill was professional, prompt, effective and honoured their agreement. I would recommend them.

Dealing with Dodds was a very good experience. Mike returned my phone call (which turned out to be a novel experience when dealing with garage door installers). He turned up for the appointment on time, gave helpful advice which aided me in decision-making, and gave me a quote. I wanted a non-standard configuration of panels (please see photos) which Mike accommodated. However, I was not able to get the doors in dark brown. That colour just wasn't available from the manufacturer who could provide the configuration I wanted. I wanted minimal and non-fussy hardware which Mike accommodated. The doors are insulated which has already made a difference to the temperature in the room above the garage. The new rails and gliders make for a much more quiet opening and closing of the doors. I had to find my own electrician to have an outlet installed into which the new door opener could be plugged. The job was finished in two days because the installer fell ill late in the afternoon. But, hey, people get sick. The job was started on a Wednesday and concluded on a Saturday. I would definitely recommend Dodds Garage Doors and to Mike in particular.

I found Acorn Pro's flyer in my mailbox advertising an $88 special. I called and spoke to Rod. Rod made an appointment, showed up, TAPED OFF the rounded corners of my driveway, and re-sealed the driveway. Then, he only charged me $80 because he was running a Three Neighbours special and had done two other houses on my street. Rod was professional and personable. I would recommend Acorn Pro Driveway Sealing.

Owen showed up promptly at 8:30 am and worked non-stop until he finished at 1 pm. He cleaned and sealed the tiles and grout in my kitchen and laundry room. My floors are 26-years-old and, except for high traffic areas where the lustre has worn off the tiles, my floors look like new. I had 240 square feet of area to be cleaned. Owen charged $1.75 per square foot. Owen was highly professional. He did a great job. I am very pleased with the results. I would strongly recommend Tiles R Us for tile and grout cleaning and sealing.

Milton, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. I could not find fabric I was happy with. He directed me to a fabric store where I found the perfect Belgian linen. I provided him with the fabric information and he went to all the trouble of getting it. Employees from TJ. Fine Upholstering picked up and dropped off the furniture to and from my home. I wanted to update my old-fashioned but very good quality Henredon sofa and armchairs. For the sofa, I went from double cushions to one single cushion. For both the sofa and armchairs, I had the apron removed and Milton put decorative legs on the pieces. The sofa and armchairs are now very modern and tailored. I also had eight Thomasville dining room chairs recovered. Milton added extra padding to the chairs which improved their comfort. All the pieces were ready and delivered before the promised date which was a nice surprise. I would definitely recommend TJ. FIne Upholstering.

I came across Wolfe & Wife Vintage Sewing Machines at the Grand Canadian Steampunk Expo in 2014. They travel around Ontario to shows with their vintage sewing machines and they have a repair shop in southwestern Ontario. At the Expo, I purchased from them, for $200, a fully reconditioned and fully functioning vintage Singer Sphinx Decal treadle sewing machine. (See photo.) It gives the most perfect straight stitch and is ideal for quilting. Wolfe & Wife were very knowledgeable, showed me how to use the machine right there at the Expo, and have been extremely responsive and supportive by email to all my inquiries. I contacted Wolfe & Wife again about my modern, portable sewing machines. I brought them my daughter's portable Brother machine for a long overdue maintenance. And, I brought them my portable Kenmore, also overdue for a maintenance. When I got my Kenmore back, at first I couldn't figure out what was different - then I realized it didn't make a terrible thunking noise any more! So, not only did they clean and oil it, but they fixed something that I didn't even know was wrong!!! They charged $45 for each machine even though one required a repair. I HIGHLY recommend Wolfe & Wife as a source of vintage (many different eras) sewing machines, and as quality service providers.
