Condo reno

Sunita was hired as a designer on a complete condo reno. Her contract stated that she would measure, design, source products and project manage- working closely with the contractor. Sunita helped design the kitchen and provided some good decorating advice for the condo. However, Sunita did not deliver on the majority of the contract. She depended on others to measure spaces; was slow to design spaces - requiring a lot of direction; and provided limited product sourcing. After the second instalment was paid, all project management was left to us. At this point, Sunita no longer added any value to our project - and we cut ties. Sunita's a charming person and has good decorating advice. I would suggest projects should be limited to this area.

Company Response

This is a completely unfair review. I have receipts to identify how involved I was. Sorry, you have felt this way about me. You did part ways with me however, you failed to indicate I met with you weekly, shopped, rendering (two bathrooms, den, and kitchen) doesn't happen overnight, sourced online, texted at 4am when your contractor failed to order your flooring, I was proactive in finding a solution. Measured your spaces to provide visuals, gave you dimensions for your mirrors and bathrooms/bedroom aesthetics. I was with you since the beginning with baseboards, paint, kitchen, den layout of your condo and yes, you did show me what you liked as this is your home and I outfitted to your personality. I provided several days and hours of my time to you and the contractor could not provide appropriate dimensions for cabinets which is NOT my responsibility and in fact is the responsibility of the cabinet maker. There were so many issues with your kitchen, so many they kept calling the contractor and store. I was rarely involved and would not get involved when it came down to confirming measurements. I am not as such and will not provide cabinet measurements, I am not a millworker, and it is not my responsibility nor is this in my contract with you. I project managed as much as I can along the way. You had issues in your condo which you chose to lean on the contractor because I am not an electrical expert. My business card and website all state I am interior decorating consultant. I did not misrepresent myself. My contract does not state I will handle electrical and plumbing. You consulted and depended on a retail store employee to complete your home, even after I asked if there was anything I could do in several emails and calls, you went off the word of this person.

Your contractor made it clear he does not want me on the job site. I have proof. You held meetings without me being there, how can I assist if I am not there? I was bullied and treated unfairly. You required handles for your kitchen, I provided a solution. You were able to purchase these. The cabinet maker you went with cannot offer you additional handle sizes, this you have penalized me for... you went with your contractors cabinet maker not mine. Sourcing handles was not part of my scope, but I helped anyway. You asked me for the dimensions for the couch, the height of the seating in the storage unit, I was helpful. I will not accept this as a review, I as not treated fairly. I have an email where you stated, "the team" felt that I was not there to support. Hands down bullying. I thought I was part of the team.

I am allowed to advise the client that I have not worked with the cabinet maker, I need the cabinet maker to confirm the size of cabinets going into the space. This does mean I am unprofessional. You have flow and consistency in your home. That was my job. I do not provide clients with custom kitchens. The reason you had a starting point with the kitchen is because I brought in the professional to start the process.

It is very unfortunate; you chose to give me a zero for this review. I see that you have been swayed as well. Perhaps, one day you will look back and see that I am not as horrible of a human being that you have indicated here.

You continued to use the renderings you paid for which I did... it wasn't not all that bad after all...

You are both very wonderful people, really, I enjoyed being there for as long as I was. I only wish you the very best and am sorry you felt that I was a waste of time. Using my kitchen cabinet maker dimensions to give to another cabinet maker who really is not familiar with high end builds speaks volumes. Perhaps, you let go of the wrong person. Cheers!
