AC Electrical has been our electrician for 10 years. They completely rewired our home in April of 2010 and we have used them several times since then.
We had a new AC unit installed in the summer of 2019 by another company. The AC unit was unusually noisy and hesitated when it started. In the summer of 2020 the AC unit was hesitating for a longer period, was much noisier and the the breaker began tripping each time the AC unit started or if we attempted to adjust the thermostat. I made a total of 5 service calls over a 1 month period and each time I was given a different explanation for the problem. After the fifth service call where the technician could not provide me with a satisfactory explanation, and despite a hard start device (capacitor) being installed, I became concerned about a possible fire hazard. I contacted AC Electrical and asked them to come and assess the AC unit.
AC Electrical quickly determined the problem was we needed to upgrade from 15 amp service to 20 amp service. They stressed that while the AC unit was not a fire hazard, if the problem wasn’t addressed it would eventually wear out the AC unit. The work was done a few days later. At that time, the electrician also discovered the new AC unit had been installed using the worn wiring from the old AC unit. There have been no other problems with our AC unit since AC Electrical upgraded our service.
