I called to have my microwave repaired. The door switch was faulty. I was quoted $180 to replace the $7 switch. It took 20 minutes to replace the switch. I also asked him to look at my fridge while he was there as it was leaking water from the freezer. He had quoted $49 to look at the fridge. It was a frozen drain pipe that just needed to be defrosted. I was charged an additional $140 to defrost a hose that took 15 minutes to do.
So my labour bill was $340 for one hour of work. That seems very very high to me. I did complain about the labour charge so he did reduce the labour down to $280 for the hour. Still pretty high in my opinion.

Thank you for your feedback, we apologize that you were unhappy with the cost of the repairs necessary. As discussed with you on multiple occasions we do not charge by an hourly rate but by a rate that is considered needed for each applicable job. After discussing your displeasure with the rate of labor for the fridge repair we accommodated and reduced it almost by half the amount and received approval from you to continue with the remaining work that was needed in your home. Once work was completed you paid the remaining amount without any further questions or concerns voiced to us. As much as we are in the business of satisfying our clients and making sure they have an amazing experience through us even in difficult times. We cannot help or explain if we are not asked the questions before completing the work. We take payment as an agreement that you have approved the quote given to you.
Once again we do appreciate the feedback, but feel it could have been discussed further if you felt the need to after we made the initial reductions in cost to try and satisfy your concerns.
