We heard of Top Shelf Construction after seeing our neighbour was getting some renovations done. We spoke with those neighbours and they gave us very positive feedback regarding Steve's work. He provided us with an estimate that was honest and fair. From day one we could see that Steve was a true professional, friendly and a very hard worker. Once we saw the finished work we were so impressed and our home looks amazing!! His attention to detail is outstanding and he is a true perfectionist. Top Shelf Construction is absolutely top notch!!

From the very start, Steven was professional and easy to communicate with. He was flexible and adapted to the additions I added to the contract throughout the project. He was everything you need and want in a contractor, skilled, efficient, punctual. The work area was left tidy at the end of each work day.
Where Steven’s character and professionalism really excelled, was how he reacted and resolved an unexpected material issue, that did not give the desired results, something I suspect a lot of contractors would have ignored. The company name adequately fits what he is about, providing exceptional “Top Shelf” work.

Steve did all our baseboards, door and window casings with excellent workmanship. He also rebuilt existing cabinetry into a new kitchen island.
On top of this, Steve was always willing to offer helpful advice/tips for various projects around the house - as my wife and I are renovation newbies.
Aside from the quality of work, Steve is also very personable and is willing to work with your ideas.
Lastly, Steve always comes when he says he will and is always on time (a trait we very much appreciate and are seeing less and less these days with other contractors).

3 bedrooms and the hallway with a floating floor. Steven maybe young but he is a very professional person who takes pride in what he does which is rare these days even among those with more experience. Customer focus with total satisfaction is his goal and he will go out of his way to achieve this. The cost of the project was more than reasonable and I would not hesitate in recommending him for any home improvement, big or small.

We recently used Top Shelf Construction for a job in our home, and we consider this company and Steve French to be one of our luckiest finds EVER!

The job in our basement involved removing panelling, replacing it with drywall (that Steve also painted) and hanging several new doors. While each of these tasks was beautifully done, it was Steve's work with the new doors that had us totally amazed. The doors were of various non-standard heights that required an incredible degree of skill and precision---and each one was done absolutely flawlessly!

Throughout the process, Steve unfailingly provided superb communication. At the end of each day's work, he left everything neat, tidy and organized for the next day. In every way, he was completely reliable from start to finish! And if all of THIS weren't enough, he was one of the most pleasant, polite and approachable tradesmen we have EVER had in our home---and we've been homeowners for going on 40 years.

I appreciate Steve's down-to-earth personality. He was very patient with me especially in giving me advice and in accommodating my suggestions. He was honest in giving his professional opinion too. Steve was punctual and professional in doing his business. He was also detail-oriented and meticulous, making sure that the job was done right. I contacted Steve to get a quote for a main floor reno. The main floor renovation consisted of painting all the walls, installing hardwood floors, rebuilding a wall between two rooms and a complete kitchen makeover. Steve was very helpful and offered recommendations for kitchen cabinets and countertops. I had met Steve twice at two different places to look at the quality and versatility of their cabinetry. After visiting and creating multiple floor plans and spending hours looking at different type of cabinets I decided to go with simple shakers with crown moulding. A wall was also rebuilt between the living room and kitchen in order to expand the size of the kitchen and to hide pipes to create a perfectly square room for my kitchen. Steve also built a recessed shelf in the wall in order to create some texture as well as take advantage of having to build this wall wider than anticipated to hide these pipes. My kitchen which is 10ftx12ft is now my favourite place and also has an eat-in peninsula where I love to spend my mornings eating breakfast. I could not be happier with the results and I have already contacted him again to renovate the upstairs of my house. Steve kept my house clean after every day he worked, which was very important to me because I do have a dog. He also was able to be at the house for items that were delivered and helped setup the furniture. I highly recommend Top Shelf Construction especially if you are looking for a reasonable price and amazing work. It is very hard to find contractors that do the job right and don’t take advantage of people, which has happen to me in the past.

Bedroom needed a fresh paint job. Contacted Steve and he gave me a quote. Got him to do the job. Excellent work. On time and he left no mess.

We hired the service of Top Shelf Construction Inc. & has just completed installing hardwood flooring/paint/flatten stucco ceiling of the entire second floor (3 bedrooms & hallway) as well as full redo of the stair, change spindle from wood to wrought iron and I tell you we are so happy and satisfied for the full service. Steven is very professional, punctual, polite and the working area is always clean. Price wise very reasonable. I will not hesitate to recommend them to any body who are looking to do their renovation.
