To any potential clients- it is without hesitation that i share back that Junior and team are fast, fair, reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, hardworking, clean and as friendly as they come. My legal basement project had a permit, to which, framing requirements passed with ease to meet compliance. Although i initially hired JNJ for framing portion, i quickly became a fan of their work and professionalism, and contracted more work in the same project. To Team JNJ, Thank you endlessly for everything, you are truly first class company! We hired Junior to renovate our house 2 weeks before our project started, as our previous contractor got sick. Junior responded to our request quickly and continued answering his phone on time throughout the project except for the end of it. About the project cost and timeline, our experience was very bad with the project. Total cost came up at 30% higher than the first quote (on which we turned down another good quote) and 16% higher than our contract. Project duration prolonged for 2 months (1 full months and 1 months of all afternoons). We agreed with Junior on 1 month per our contract but he finished in 3 months instead. Our short-term rent was an additional cost which Junior did not cover even a portion of it (we never asked for it but we could per contract). We had to offer Junior and his crew incentives to finish the job and even with that, we didn’t feel the project team did their best to finish the project sooner. For most days, of 60+ days, there was only one labour working in our 2 storey house with a basement and for most days they were working only on weekdays for few hours (note that there was no surprise behind the walls and the inspection process was very quick otherwise the extended time and cost could’ve been reasonable). The worst part of our project was when Junior’s electrician came to finish his job at our house and he was very rude. I was very respectful and was showing him the areas where he had to fix an issue. All of a sudden when I showed him an old electrical socket that should’ve been changed, he hit the wall with his screwdriver and shouted at me. I was terrified that I can get harmed so I asked him to leave the house. He left the house while shouting f... you and showing sign with his hands (which our entrance camera recorded that). I informed Junior and his assistant right away and Junior apologized. About attention to details, we had to tell the crew, in different occasions what to do and what not to do (ex: leaving the new floor, new island, etc. uncovered which damaged many parts of the floor, island throughput the project- Misaligned potlights - Throwing away a newly purchased lamp! - Scratching a toilet while working on the wall “and he did not even replace the toilet which was an additional cost for us - Very unprofessional stair staining - Noise in several different location of floors, and etc.). The cherry on the top!!! was when he removed the garbage bin when 1/3 of the renovation was still remained, leaving all garbages at our garage and promised to remove them at the end. He never removed the garbages and or answered his phone to assist us with it. His assistant told us that his truck is broken and he will call us back soon but 5 months after the project, we had to pay another company to remove them. Throughout the project, we had to manage everything ourselves such as finding a kitchen guy as his never responded (we are so happy that we found ours as the finish is very nice per pictures but cannot comment on Junior’s kitchen work), we also had to redo the stair staining as the finishes looked very bad per picture, and or buying most of the stuffs (tiles, shower bases, doors, knobs, etc.) ourselves managing time and need. Overall the whole process was a lot more stressful and over budget than what we thought it would be. Better estimate for the budget and time, timely communication about the challenges, more labor, more attention to details, and more project management by Junior, could have helped.

We trusted Junior James and his company after hearing good things. Quoting process was good, but after the work was done, no customer service to come and fix issues from bad quality work which were promptly reported with photos and video evidence. 3 months warranty given during quoting was not honored.

We hired him to do tiles removal and installation of new tiles in Kitchen, Powder room, Laundry and Entry.
4 days work effort given during quote was rushed and completed in 2.5 days.

We had issue with a gap between kitchen tile and family room hardwood transition area. An expert installer would have known to use a T-Moulding(we learnt about this later) while the tile was being layed. But no, and solution given after the fact was to fill with grout and make it look ugly and unprofessional in a visible area as we enter the kitchen. We then had to hire a hardwood installer later to come and cut the hardwood strip wide enough to put a T-Moulding. Costed us a lot as no contractor wants to come and fix other contractors bad job. They think it is a small job.

2 Tiles in Laundry area have delaminated from a corner as not enough mortar was put underneath. We messaged Junior and his office contact several times. They did not even bother to call back and after repeated reminder calls, false promises of coming were made.

I am writing this review after waiting patiently for 4 months since original job and making our best effort to tell them to come and fix issues. But they don't care.

Grout job was poorly done as no properly tools were used. We now may have to regrout as existing grout is not flush with tile surface and will cause tiles to chip.

Along the toe kicks were old tile was cut, grout was put in a haphazard manner. I had to sit and scrape it later as another contractor I hired to put shoe moulding could not get it to sit flush against the floor and toe kick.

Junior seemed good natured while interacting with him, but need a contractor who follows through any issues that come up with quality of work once done and not just do a one off job and walk away. I think he is very experienced, but busy, so took our work in between other jobs. But that is no excuse to do a bad job and months later to come back and fix problems that came up. It is our hard earned money that we paid to update our home and were disappointed to see the end result.

We paid promptly the moment work was completed, but he did not come back now to fix issues, after giving a 3 month guarantee for work. We decided not to use him for doing further work.

Junior redesigned my kitchen and bathroom. He assisted me in choosing tiles and accessories. He is very efficient,reliable and trustworthy. He takes his work seriously and will go above and beyond until the work is 100% satisfied.
With no hesitation I would recommend Junior for any home improvement job.
