His & Hers Tree Service

Shortly after we moved into our home, our neighbours let us know that the very old and large tree in our backyard (which was hovering over their house) was dead and needed to be cut down. It turns out it was infected with Dutch Elm disease.

We sourced competitive quotes and decided to go with McDonald Forestry. It was a complicated removal because a city tree was impeding the use of a lift truck. So the tree was manually cut down branch by branch and hauled down the narrow alley way leading from our backyard. Steve was great. He was accommodating, fast, friendly and clearly knew what he was doing. He even swept off our neighbour's roof.

We would definitely recommend this company to others.

Raccoons were tearing up our deck and sapling trees threatened three houses telephone lines. MacDonald forestry came to give a free estimate and within a week had completed the job. Not a branch or wood chip remained. Our neighbours are happy and we are pleased with the efficiency of the service.

My husband is difficult to please but even he was impressed. McDonald Forestry has earned their reputation and rating honestly with hard work and true customer service.

A weekend wind storm broke off a big limb from our backyard silver maple and fell into our neighbour's backyard. It's time that the big tree needed a major pruning. We also needed to clean up the mess in our neighbour's backyard. I could imagine the spike in demand for tree services across Toronto after the storm. I called three companies and only McDonald Forestry got back to me with a quote promptly - that really speaks to their dependability and customer service.

For some reason, they under-quoted the job by a long shot (judging by the time and effort Steve and crew put in, I believe him totally). Despite this, Steve and his crew did 100% of the job and probably more, with no complaint. Steve said it was their issue and they never make a customer pay for their quoting error. Their insistence on keeping their word and customer service is exemplary.

I should also mentioned that due to my neighbour nagging about the fallen limb, I asked if they could send a crew to clean up the wood in my neighbour's backyard sooner. Alan McDonald was very accommodating and for a reasonable charge, sent a crew the same day to complete the clean up job a few days prior to the actual tree pruning.

As repeatedly mentioned in other customers' posts, they did a fabulous job of cleaning up the debris and make sure that everything if fine and taken care of.

I will definitely use their services again and will wholeheartedly recommend them to our friends and family.

Steve's impressive reputation was put to the test again with a number of challenges on our yard. 1) A fence to jump to discard of the wood 2) A gang of 5 angry squirrels 3) Being rained out halfway through the job - but making it back the VERY next day 4) Last but not least, dealing with my neighbour; who talents aside from accumulating my discarded scrap wood and broken lawnmowers - are that of peppering work crews with questions and complaints that generally have no footing - no small feat for Steve to handle some of these 40' in the air! Thanks fellas for your hard work!

I found McDonald Forestry here on Homestars. I contacted them and two other companies to ask for quotes. One of those companies never even showed up to do the quote. Of the two that did quote, McDonald was the most comprehensive and their price was slightly better than the other guys.

None of the trees that needed attention were actually on my property. I was not looking to upset any neighbours so I was open and frank with my neighbours about my concerns and plans. It was important to me that the company doing the work was equally respectful of my neigbours. Steve was definitely the right choice.

When they showed up to do the work Steve took the time to explain things to me and my neighbours. He went the extra mile to protect some other plants in the vicinity of the stump to be removed and and he even did a little extra work for one of my neighbours at no addiitonal charge. At the end of the day, everyone was happy with the work that was done.

I will definitely use McDonald Forestry again and I would recommend them without hesitation to my friends and neighbours.

Forget the others, McDonald Forestry will save you the headaches and price gouging by the other tree service companies(they know who they are)Learn to read through their BS. How do I know? I got several quotes and Mcdonald Forestry was the best "overall" choice.

I had McDonald Forestry remove several overgrown limbs of a large tree and do some general trimming. Steve was extremely quick to provide an estimate for the work, and was able to get the job completed very quickly. They did a great job with the tree, and they left my yard cleaner than they found it. I am very happy with the service they provided and will absolutely use them again for any tree care needs.
