Luc was hired to side our house with a mid-market product, to parge the foundation and to apply brick facing to the front. He said he and his "team" would complete the job in 2 weeks.

Quality of work: Poor. Did not know how to install it properly, didn't add Tyvek as per our contract or seal properly. Boards were cut too short or mis-cut leading to considerable wastage. As a result he ran out of some materials and wanted us to pay extra. Nails were not sealed and painted. Some edges he refused to seal "not his job" so there was some wood exposed to the elements.

Length of Time: His "team" consisted of him and an occasional helper from a Labour Market. He worked 2 hours per day and disappeared for days on end and made excuses. 6 weeks in, he had completed 1/3 of the job. We fired him.

Professionalism: Poor. Job site was unsafe and dirty. Boards with nails were left nail up in our yard. Materials were stored improperly. When it was pointed out that we wanted a discount for the lack of Tyvek, he said he would add that cost on elsewhere.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED HIS SERVICES.

We contracted Luc based on positive reviews on Homestar, makes one wonder if those with negative experience just kept it to themselves & so i am doing this to warn others not to fall victim to him.
Luc was to finish our main floor, insulate the attic & crawl space & redo the electrical in an older home. All the demo had been done by another contractor. The tight timeline was communicated to Luc at the start and in the first couple of days, he appeared competent & committed to quality in 2 weeks. but when he put a beam in the ceiling & without adequate support, we began to worry (the plan is an open concept with flush ceiling). then closet& powder room built with misaligned walls & doors. all these were pointed out as he did the job but he insisted everything would be made right in the end.
By the 2nd week he was making excuses to not be at the job & frankly often rude. It is our nature to be considerate of people around us, so we gave him 2wks to go attend to personal issues only for him to return and still continue as before.
He got 60% advance pay & bought less than 20% of the materials needed. He eventually bailed on the job claiming he had another family emergency.
We had the work accessed by respective licensed tradesmen and found all electrical has to be redone as they were not to code, He put an extremely hot incandescent recess light in the insulated Arctic creating a potential fire hazard, they had to be removed immediately to avoid a fire.
The beams he installed were literally sitting on the existing ones making the ceiling cave down, they were not supported by coloumns & not held down at all!! & more. It would cost us double to have the job done & the home safe.
We share the report with Luc asking that he replaces the material & he literarily told us off with vulgar words saying since it was a cash transaction and he cannot be held to pay.
So this is to warn others while we move to recover our money.
If we got this benefit, we never would have called him.
Do not use LUC/ The supplier's group of Tradesmen- there is no company its just him & he has no sense of quality or ethics.
If we didn't get professional opinions we may have missed the major risks that have been hidden in walls and the attic which could have been disastrous for our family especially as winter approaches.
Contractors like him are the reason why people are scared of old home renovations.

Excellent job from start to finish. Luc offered us great advice on how to tackle this job right from the beginning and his honesty and integrity was much appreciated. Luc and his team were very efficient with their time. We are very pleased with the work done and with our experience working with Luc that we have booked him for another job.

This project was already started by another contractor that made a complete mess of everything.

Luc and his team came in with patience and skills and made everything right. This was not a easy talk as everything from the foundation to framing had to be redone. This was a 1 step forward and 2 steps back kind of job.

Most contractor would of just walked way because of all the issue, but Luc came up with solutions and helped as much as he could. He went over and above to help the homeowner achieve there dream.

Luc is a true professional. Other contractors I contacted gave marginally lower prices but Luc’s attention to detail and his foresight made him the only choice. Luc suggested solutions that no other contractor did and completed the work quickly over the weekend because of his concerns for the health and safety of our hotel guests. I would recommend Luc and his team to anyone.
