basement renovation

We gave a contract to the contractor Wayde from Northland construction on Dec 22nd, 2018 to replace a laminate floor, a window in a wall and kitchen cabinets. we signed for 7500 and he asked for 3000 on the same time, we transferred on same time . after that , he came on other day to remove the carpet on the floor . then never showed up . we called several times, he just stopped responding . Basically he took our 3000 dollars and never came back to finish his work . Be aware of contractors like him .

Approximate cost of services:
$7,500.00

Company Response

Anupama, I am sorry you feel this way. You know this to be totally un-true.
I removed the carpet in the downstairs bedroom, then supplied and installed new laminate flooring, while saving the baseboards and reusing them as I know that cost is a huge issue with you.
I then filled in a doorway that connected the upstairs kitchen with a bedroom. I supplied and installed all materials. I framed the opening, then applied drywall to both sides. I then applied mud, tape and sanded to finish. I painted the whole wall in the kitchen and painted the entire room on the other side of the wall. Finally I supplied and installed new baseboard to match the existing baseboard.
I then went back downstairs and supplied and installed 10 feet of new ABS connectors elbows and straight pipe to provide a drain for the new kitchen. I also supplied and installed new pex pipe to supply hot and cold water to the new kitchen. Finally I supplied and installed a new stove wire for the kitchen. I ran the wire from the panel (without connecting it) through the ceiling and over to the new kitchen. I am not an electrician and will never connect to the panel.
Then you hired an electrician to finish the electrical work. The electrician said that the wrong wire was installed, So I called Rona , (where I got the wire). They apologized to me and said that it wasn’t the wrong wire, but there is a better wire to use. They also said that they would reimburse me for the wire, without a receipt. I asked you Anupama “where is the wire ?” You haven’t responded.
I feel that you got way more than your 3000 dollars worth. I asked you remove your comment from this site and you said that you would, I am still waiting. I hope you learn from this and treat other contractors better Wayde Goodrich
