We did an inspection for Kingsley and his wife Diane on May 18, 2021. This house was purchased without any conditions from the Sellers in an AS IS condition. We were hired by his realtor and not them directly. The inspection took place between 5:15pm and 7:22pm. Kingsley and his wife only joined around 7pm towards the end of the inspection. This inspection was done purely for knowledge for themselves to know what it is that they had purchased. We found 11 Marginal Defects and 5 Major Defective items during the inspection. The following day Diane, which is Kingsley wife called and spent 20-25 minutes on the phone and was dissecting the report bit by bit, which we assisted her with. Then a few days after called again and spend another 20 minutes asking us to basically teach her how to read a Thermal Imaging picture and what all the numbers on a Thermal Camera means. At that point we told her that we are not here to teach people how to read a Thermal Imaging picture. We had to spend weeks taking courses on how to read and make sense of a Thermal image ourselves. We told her that she can google it and try to learn on her own if she wants. This is not our job to educate you on this subject. Now this is about 45 minutes total spent with Diane on the phone.
Last week Kingsley called and informed us that there was No return vent on the Main Floor. Now this is 2 months after the inspection now, so they must have moved into their newly purchased house. We went through our notes and found nothing on the subject. We could not Confirm or Deny that this was missed. We did not go back to the Property to verify as things got out of hand before that was to be done. All the defects we found were going to be fixed by Kinglsey and Diane on their own expense because the house was purchased Firm. Kingsley at this point requested us to give a Full refund to help pay for the Supposedly missed Return vent. We chatted via text. We replied to him saying, if we had mentioned it on our report that the return vent wasn't there, you would have still paid to get it fixed out of your own pocket right? The Sellers sold the house AS IS to Kingsley and Diane. He did not reply to that. He just replied "What are you offering?" At which point we did not reply to him and he went to write this review to try to ruin our name and reputation. We spent 2+ hours on site and 45 minutes answering and dealing with his Wife Diane which we didn't charge anything for. If Mr.Kingsley had requested something reasonable we would have tried to work with him. His request was unreasonable and not fair to us.
We have been doing this since 2011, so almost 10 years this September. We did not Boast about it, we just stated facts of the timeline that we have been doing Home Inspections. We have completed over 6000+ inspection up to date. We have 20 reviews on Homestars that are 10/10. These reviews are from past clients from different cities all over Ontario. This 0 Star Review was done out of Malicious intent because we didn't comply and give this Cheap Person his money back. Kingsley and especially his wife were educated on what it means to be a Homeowner and all the maintenance that comes with home ownership. They simply wanted this service and education for Free at the end of it. There will always be someone that is not happy, but in this case not happy, ignorant and cheap.
