Mike designed, built & installed ceiling to floor built in shelves on both sides of the fireplace in our main floor great room. The design stage was interactive, he did a great job all on budget.
Based on this successful project we had him design, build a 600 sq. ft. room in our unfinished basement, plus a 2 piece bathroom. Also, had him demo, and then build a new main floor bathroom.
Mike's cabinet work is excellent, he did all the work on budget as quoted.
He provided contacts for electrical and plumbing who also were very good.
It did take longer than planned but it was all done during Covid and materials were at a shortage.

We recently hired Mike from Axis Design & Carpentry to build our mantle and bookshelf/cabinet wall for our living room and could not be happier with our decision. We had quoted multiple carpenters and by far felt most comfortable with Mike which never changed for a moment from start to finish.

Mike is extremely good at his job. His eye for design along with his handy work and creativity is just incredible. He also showed that he is not just super handy with his carpentry, in addition his tile and paint work completed during the job was also perfect. (Others we quoted did not offer all of these services as a one stop shop).

In addition, his friendliness and dedication to ensuring his customer is 100% happy with his work are second to none. As impressed as we are with his work we are equally impressed and grateful for his incredible patience and desire to ensure we were 100% happy with the final product. It was clear that Mikes goal was not to quickly complete the job and move on but rather to ensure we were always 100% satisfied with our purchase.

We hired Michael after reviewing/interviewing 6 builders. He impressed us with his enthusiasm, interest, down-to-earth presentation. He showed us pictures of his work, there were positive reviews. We hired him and met a couple of times to iron out expectations/timelines/prices/etc. We insisted on having a city permit which was not well received by him, but he complied. He took our money and went to city hall to submit the application. This all happened in late Feb. and the expectation was a mid-t0-late April completion. We never saw him again. We made several calls/emails/texts to find out how things were going-he returned two emails to state all was being taken care of. Suddenly in early April we get a letter from the City stating all of the issues were still not addressed and their attempts to contact our contractor were not working. He never returned the city calls/emails or ours. Didn't even have the decency to let us know there were problems, he was quitting, nothing! We were stuck in mid-April without a builder and the other contractors were booked until the Fall. So disgusted in this man and his total lack of honesty or compassion.

Mike was an absolute pleasure to work with! He helped bring my vision to life and was helpful and knowledgeable during the entire process. We wanted to replace the trim throughout our entire house He help pick out a beautiful profile that we hadn't even considered. We also wanted to update our kitchen but didn't know where to start he recommended spraying the existing cabinet rather than ripping them out and replacing them. the finish on the cabinets is absolutely flawless. He also did a fantastic job with the backsplash and countertops. We plan on using Mike for any future work and would recommend him to anyone.

Very impressed with Axis Design & Carpentry. We worked with Mike who is very professional in manner and in his work. We needed a dozen interior doors including bifolds, slabs and some very unusual sized doorways to be installed. Mike returned my request for a quote immediately and actually showed up when he said he was going to (unlike a few of the other companies I had contacted). His quote on our project was exactly what we paid - and Axis Design & Carpentry has excellent prices to match their excellent work. The timeline when our work was to be started and finished was also excellent and as promised. We found Mike to be punctual, friendly and dedicated, taking pride in his work. We would definitely recommend this company.

Worked with Mike on a mission trip to Belize. He built the door frames, hung the doors, and built a book shelf for the library using crappy tools and scrap wood. He did a beautiful job despite not having the greatest working materials.

I approached Mike about doing a custom bench for my front sun room after seeing his work on a friends home. I had very "specific" requirements for the bench as the space is a very tricky little spot in our sun room. Mike took only one weekend to check out the space, come up with various design options and then build it for me (delivering it to my house on the Monday evening).

Highly recommend Mike for any home design project. Very impressed!

Initially we were happy with his work, as Mike built us a decent deck.The agreement was to demolish and remove the existing deck, install a new one and stain it. Mike convinced us that he would do the demolition and installation and come back next spring to pressure wash and stain, which we were ok with and paid in full when the installation was complete.
Come spring, I tried calling him and sent several emails to schedule pressure wash and stain. I tried all means to get in touch with him, got read receipt confirmations for my messages and he just refused to respond. I had recommended his name to many of my friends and neighbors, which I regret. Though he came across as a hardworking and skilled guy, he turned out to be a dishonest and unprofessional business man. Also, less than few months after installation .. one of the deck poles cracked/broke, which I will be getting fixed by another carpenter. I would NOT recommend anyone do any kind of business with him.

When i Called Mike and booked a time for him to come and quote on the deck which was only a 20x10" (i mention the size because i had other deck companies come and over quote because they did not want the job as it may have been too small for them) deck, he showed up on time, took his measurments and told me he would have my quote back to me in 2 days or less, as promised his quote was in my inbox in 1 1/2 days.Mikes quote was very reasonable and we agreed on a start date. Mike was on time very pleaseant to speak to and completed the job in a very timely manner. i would reccomend Axis Design and Paton Decks to anyone who is looking for a reliable fair contractor that does quality work
