Brent & Elite Mechanical is great, trustworthy

I live in a downtown condo and my AC was just blowing room-temperature air. My condo management referred me to Elite Mechanical as they are the contractor for the building and know the systems.

Well, it must have been a sign from above as Brent was in the building doing other work when he called me back.

He came down, quickly assessed that my capacitor was not working and replaced it.

Cold air and a big smile. He's a good guys who I trust and would happily refer. If you're afraid of getting gauged for phantom work, give Brent a call.

No response after several attempts

I used Elite Mechanical in the past for my condo heat pump AC issues and they were great. They came in, diagnosed that the issue was not my heat pump, but rather a cooling tower riser line temperature being too high, causing a high pressure/lockout in my unit that prevented the AC from working. Fast forward two summers and my heat pump completely failed. I needed a replacement. I emailed Elite Mechanical with the details to get quote for a replacement. They didn't respond. I called and left a message. No response. I called another 'emergency' number and got a callback after two attempts. The person told me that my message was received and that she'd remind Brent to contact me. Several days later no response. I called again - left another message. No response. I had no other option than to use another company to replace my heat pump as this company did not respond. Thankfully there are other companies who answer their phone, respond to emails, and provide great customer service. Even if they were too busy to help me, all they needed to do was call me back and say so - at least I would have not waited several more days with no AC for them to call back. Sadly, I cannot recommend Elite Mechanical as a result of the lack of response from the company. I perhaps paid more to another company, but at least I have AC now - the summers aren't getting any cooler and not sleeping because of the heat is not fun. I now have a new unit from another company.

FAN Coil fixing

It was the hottest week of Summer, and our Air Conditioning stop working. We live in a Condo, and even there was a company doing maintenance they cannot schedule me in a couple of days. The building manager recommended another couple of companies, but they went to voice-mails or unanswered email. I found Elite Mechanical in the website, Brent answer quickly to my info email and was very good to accommodate the schedule, even they were busy season. Brent was very professional, was very honest and upfront with the costs; he asked me to take picture of the unit, so he can be prepared with the piece to change. I absolutely recommend him.

HVAC Fan Coil Systems in Old Condos

I searched for more than a year for a company to fix four HVAC (heating/air conditioning) fan coil systems in two condos that I own in an older building (40+ years old) in North York.

I must have contacted 20 to 30 Toronto-area HVAC companies in an effort to find a good, honest company that knew how to fix these systems. Elite Mechanical Services was one of the last companies I contacted. I found an ad for Elite on kijiji.ca

Brent was so honest and decent. He gave me very reasonable estimates on the four HVAC systems that I needed repairing. Other HVAC companies (including the condo building's recommended companies) told me I needed to replace all the systems at a cost of up to almost $3,000 each! That would have meant almost $12,000!

By contrast, Brent recommended I just fix or replace the components that needed fixing/replacing and leave the other components because they were still useful.

Brent was not only honest, but he was also very knowledgeable and did a great job ... and he arrived on time for both his estimate and to do the work.

When Brent was unable to repair one component (a leaking tray) because it was too badly corroded, he very quickly obtained another tray and came back the next day (despite a very hectic schedule) to install it because he was so concerned about us.

His office assistant, Sarah, was also wonderful to deal with. She had to patiently send the paperwork (insurance and WSIB coverage) several times to our condo's property manager before the property manager finally approved Elite to work in my units.

Brent also installed a lint box for the dryer in each of my units.

I think Elite Mechanical Services is excellent. I would recommend this company to anyone. It's so inspiring to find a good, honest HVAC service that can fix the old fan coil systems. Brent even followed up the day after he finished the work to make sure I was satisfied.

I ended up spending a total of about $1,700 (including HST) for the four HVAC units and two lint boxes (instead of up to almost $12,000 quoted by other companies).

I am extremely grateful ... and frankly I feel a little like I won the lottery for HVAC companies. :-)

AC repair in apartment

Our AC wasn't running in July, and the incompetent big name service used by condo management wouldn't/couldn't fix it. Brent took a look, found a component that had burnt out and replaced it, while all these other companies wanted me to pay them 1k+ to 'fix' or replace my compressor. There are so many sharks in the cooling industry, and Brent will save you from all of that nonsense. I'm very glad I know who to call for AC repairs in Toronto.

HVAC Service

Heating (HVAC) broke down and Elite Mechanical (Brent) responded and came for inspection the following day. Brent was professional, honest and immediately took the HVAC for inspection. He was open and clear with the process and how much it might cost to fix along with timelines. Brent came back the following day and reinstalled the HVAC unit and was flexible with my working hours. Don't be alarmed at the price to fix your HVAC (e.g. compressor) as there is a monopoly on the parts (e.g. Whalen co). Brent even dropped off 4 new filters for me free of charge even though offered to pay.

He was recommended by our condo management and I fully support the referral.

So far so good.

Condo Heating

My condo was freezing cold because at best the heating unit was blowing out room temperature air.
The property management office provided a list of a few contractors but Elite had the best recommendations on Homestars and I can see why.

I placed a call on Jan 30th and received a prompt reply. Brent setup an appoint for NYE, which was surprising but much appreciated given how cold my place was (actually he initially offered to fix the problem on Jan 30th - either way that's a fast turnaround).

Brent replaced the thermostat but not before providing some really good recommendations on how I could potentially save money long term by going with a programmable thermostat.

What really caught my attention besides his friendly yet professional demeanour was Brent's attention to detail (even taking the time cleaning barely visible smudge marks off my wall). He triple tested each change to ensure nothing would break after he left and obviously took pride in his work.

Brent also took the time to explain the problems, solutions and did a demonstration of my new thermostat's features so I wasn't in the dark.

All in all great service.

Condo HVAC Repair

When our HVAC stopped working, we had another service company provide us with a very high estimate (in the thousands) claiming the compressor had broken and would need to be replaced. When I called Brent for a second opinion, he was very patient in walking us through the process of sourcing and replacing the component I needed. When he arrived at our condo he was able to determine that the compressor was not in fact broken, rather another (cheaper) component had melted. He quickly replaced the melted piece with a new one from his truck. Even though he knew we were expecting to pay hundreds more he was honest with us, saving us a lot of money. We will certainly be using his services again!

HVAC Heat Pump

Brent from Elite Mechanical Services was excellent to work with from the initial phone call through to job completion. We contacted him for a 2nd opinion after being told by our condo company's "preferred" company that our unit needed to be replaced at a cost of $3600. Brent assessed the problem quickly and determined that the issue was with the the compressor and there was no need to replace the entire unit. Brent completed the job for $900. Would highly recommend Brent and Elite Mechanical Services for your HVAC and heat pump needs!!!
