Fast, courteous and professional. 11 Stars if I could.

Our built-in GE Monogram fridge died on Friday before the August long weekend. We've been dealing with Home Appliance Care for over 15 years now so we called them at about 1:00 PM. At 4:00 pm, we had a knowledgeable, professional technician (with the correct part in his truck ????) at our house and within 30 minutes the fridge was fixed. He also cleaned around the very hard to get to parts of the fridge and replaced the water filter. Weekend saved and we will never deal with any other company. Highly recommended.

Glass Stovetop replacement

We broke our stand alone glass stove top and they came to replace the glass stove top... the installer did not want to move the stove back into place and told us that if we broke it he could come back... to me, the service should include sliding the stove back in its rightful place since it was pulled out-it sounds like they're happy if we break it again since they would make more money... these stoves are tricky and I would expect professionals to slide it back into its rightful place....They asked us to pay even though we asked for help and the installer ran out the door right after. We paid unfortunately, although to me, this job was not completed.
I would certainly not recommend this service for this type of appliance. I NEEDED HELP TO SLIDE IT IN to avoid this happening again-not just replacing the glass. Would this business want to ensure their customers don't have to call again? or the more they call the better?

To respond to the response: Whether a customer is in a reno or not, the help and service should be the same. Also, just so you know, the kitchen was completed and the stove was the last item to fit into place. We had pulled the stove out to help you guys and save time-THE STOVE NEEDED TO BE PULLED OUT EITHER WAY. The guy offered help and when it actually came time to help us, AND WORK WITH US and provide a recommendation, he took his payment and left. I would expect for your guy to find a solution with us, right? Not just leave us to figure it out. Your guy did not want to take ACCOUNTABILITY should the stove have broken again (and why even think this???)-not to mention his comment on calling him again for a repair. As I mentioned, the job was not completed- a perfect example would be to arrive at a customer's home, pull the fridge out to fix the water line, and leaving the fridge there, out of its spot. Would you leave a service that way?

As you know you are in the midst of a renovation and the unit was already pulled out when the technician got there. After replacing the glass on your stove the technician did offer to help you push the stove in place. However upon inspecting the granite he found that it did not seem to be a smooth fit to the granite so it was deemed unsafe to do so in fear of breaking your newly replaced glass. Of course most repairs consists of units that are already installed so putting them back into their original place is normal procedure, unfortunately your situation was not so. Hope this explanation helps.

No answer

I've been calling the company for 2 days now... multiple times in the day. Apparently they are the only ones to service Fisher and Packel... but every single time I call, I get a busy signal. They say on their website that they don't have email because they want to keep it personable... that's very hard when I can't get a hold of you. So frustrating.

Due to the ice storm yesterday, our phones and internet in the whole neighbourhood went down from around 3 pm to 7 pm. We are definitely open and have been other than those 2 hours. Unfortunately those are circumstances beyond our control. Please try your calling again.

Dishwasher Repair

Very good service ... they came the day they promised although they should reduce the time frame when they can come. The dishwasher required a part which was ordered and installed within 3 business days. The technician, Marc, did excellent work and is a personable and friendly guy.

DO NOT USE HOME APPLIANCE CARE INC.

THERE ARE MANY APPLIANCE REPAIR BUSINESSES OUT THERE. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T USE THIS ONE!

Unknowledgeable, rude, and will charge you for a service call without repairing your appliance.

Back Story:

I called Whirlpool about my refrigerator not cooling (Freezer section cold but Refrigerator section) as it was still under warranty and a "technician" named Daniel showed up at my home from Home Appliance Care Inc. From the second he came into my home he had a bad attitude. He first refused to even look at my refrigerator because it was unplugged. Being a licensed Appliance Technician myself, I knew this was not the case. I explained to him that he could check multiple different components of the refrigerator even though it was not at temp and he aggressively proceeded to take the refrigerator apart.

Being in the trade, I arrive at many service calls after unlicensed "Appliance Technicians", who had scheduled a refrigeration service call with no knowledge of how to properly test or repair a refrigerator. These guy's walk into people's homes, poke around the refrigerator for a few minutes, and then tell the customer that the refrigerator has a leak and need's to be replaced. They collect their money and leave. Unfortunately most people do replace the appliance, wasting money and time, when in reality the diagnosis was incorrect and all that was needed was a part.

So after he took the back panel in the freezer off, he told me that the defrost element was fine, without even removing the element and checking for continuity with a continuity meter. This is impossible but I just agreed as I knew this guy did not know what he was doing. He put the panel back on and tried to leave saying "let it run and once it reaches temperature, call Whirlpool back and book another appointment". Seeing that I had already lost a refrigerator worth of food and needed a refrigerator, this was not acceptable to me. He then told me that it may be a leak in the system and he needs the refrigerator at temp to check that. At that point I knew this guy's game and that he was wasting my time. I explained to him that if it was a leak, it can be tested with a refrigerant gas leak detector but this guy had no intentions of doing that or didn't have the tool to do so. I then explained to him that there was a drainage problem with the refrigerator when in defrost and not a refrigerant leak because the freezer was cooling properly. The problem was ice building up in the vents that allow the cold air in the freezer section to be blown down into the refrigerator section. This causes the freezer section to be cold but not the refrigerator section. He grunted in annoyance and proceeded to vacuum out the drain tube. Finally! Now we are getting somewhere! He vacuumed out the tube for 2 minutes, got up, and left. No goodbye, no test to make sure the drain tube was indeed cleared, nothing.

Now, 3 weeks later, the ice has built up again and I have lost another refrigerator worth of food. I called them back directly on a Saturday and they scheduled a return service call for the following Monday. I took the day off of work and at 9:00 AM on Monday I receive a call from Home Appliance Care Inc. The lady tells me that they were mistaken and will not be coming. I will need to call Whirlpool to schedule an appointment. So I call Whirlpool immediately to schedule the appointment. They put me on hold for a few minutes and when they return, they tell me that Home Appliance Care Inc. is refusing to return. WONDER WHY! I wouldn't send an imposter to someone's house who can call their every bluff either. So now I have to wait for another technician from a different company. C'est la vie. I guess I'll just spend the day away from work writing negative reviews about this company so people know not to waste their precious time and hard earned money on this company.

Company Response

The appliance was under full warranty, therefore the customer was not charged anything and did not pay us anything either.
We are refrigeration licensed, factory trained and authorized for Whirlpool and many other brands as well. The technician that went to this customer has over 27 years experience and performs sealed system repairs on many different makes. In fact, we are often called upon to go out after other companies since they do not do refrigeration or cannot repair the product.
This refrigerator had evidence of being unplugged for quite some time when the technician arrived at the house therefore was unable to perform a proper diagnostic. However upon testing it was determined that it was running properly at the time and consequently the customer was advised to let it run and to contact Whirlpool directly if any further problems arose as this is Whirlpool’s procedure.
The office is closed after hours and therefore the person that booked the call had no access to the history on this unit. Had that been available, the client would have been directed to Whirlpool Customer Service.
It is unfortunate that bad or good reviews are not researched before being allowed to be posted as it plays unfairly on all parties involved.

Dryer issues

Technician for Homeappliancecare.ca company were very efficient/friendly. Technician was scheduled for broken dryer machine, he showed up early, was friendly and the repair job was done withing 15min. I would definitely recommend whether services are for appliances under warranty or If paid out of own pocket.

Fridge Repair

I had a six year old GE fridge that would no longer get cold. Called in the morning and they had a tech out that same afternoon. Unfortunately the first tech couldn't fix it so it had to be escalated. Was not charged for the visits between junior tech and senior tech (five visit total). Senior tech came in and took apart my fridge. He found that my evaporator coils had rusted out and the coolant line was rusted through. GE no longer sold the part but he managed to find it anyways. He had 30+ plus years of experience and knew what he was doing. Fridge is fixed and is colder than ever. Gave me some suggestions to watch out for in the future.

Repair of gas range

Brutal service from this company. Tech was late, talked on his phone with a colleague with more experience through the whole visit. In the end he ran a wire paper-clip in to the gas outlet to test for obstruction. Did not fix the issue but rather wanted to order an expensive part and return at a later date (and charge again for that visit). Do yourself a favour and hire someone else.
