Great Work but paid Double what they quoted

Guys came and increased our water pressure. The water pressure is improved. They also fixed another issue with a clogged drain and a leaking pipe. Work area was left clean.

Company Response

Thank you for your review, Morrison Plumbing and Mechanical appreciates the feedback.

For more details specific to your case, feel free to contact us at any point in time.
As you know, we provided an estimate over the phone and then adjusted it prior to any on-site work that both parties agreed upon.

Changes in materials and work requirements occurred which led to appropriate pricing adjustments. More precisely, we installed 1 inch copper (instead of 3/4), we trenched the new line inside the house further than the front wall (unlike what was initially planned). Moreover, pipes from the new meter to the hot water tank were all increased from 1/2 to 3/4 inch, for optimal flow which was not originally included or discussed.

Overall, we feel that our work on your property was done very well, efficiently and at a reasonable price.

Let us know if we can help with any future plumbing drains or waterproofing,
Thank you for choosing Morrison Plumbing and Mechanical.

Great Work but paid Double what they quoted

I was quoted $3000 for expanding pipes to increase water pressure in our home which was very poor. We decided to proceed with them because they completed another small job very efficiently. On the day of the work, I received a call saying that the hole had been dug in our front yard, but that the work was now going to cost $5,700 – almost DOUBLE the amount quoted because of complications. What could I do? There was a 9’ deep x 3’ wide hole dug in our yard. Tell their team no, we don’t have the money to do the work?

The water pressure is now significantly improved, they left the work site relatively clean, their workers were polite and they also fixed another plumbing issue we had (although not $2,700 worth). If I did such a thing in my line of work I would lose accounts so fast and probably have law suits filed after me. I did end up paying the final amount as they continued to pursue payment and I didn’t want any more trouble, but I do hope their team learned from this experience and that none of their future clients will go through this. Their work was good, but a complete, utter fail in business communications and quoting.

Imagine if you went into a barber shop and asked them how much it was to cut your hair and they said $30. Half way through cutting your hair, the barber says, “Oh, your hair is much thicker than I first thought, it will actually be $60”. What would you do?
