Home Inspection on Buying

I used David to do my home inspection before I bought my home a while back. Overall, he seemed friendly and competent. I found during the inspection he was rushed and eager to get to his next appointment. Which was unfortunate. He did spend 2 hours on the inspection, but at the same time this is a major decision (buying a home) and understandably buyers will have questions as we are relying so heavily on the inspector to make a decision. He also refused to go on the record with his information. The report he provided was in-depth but lacking in some areas.

Where I am truly surprised and disappointed is that at one point I pointed out an uncovered ceiling electrical box with exposed wires. I asked him if the wires we were seeing in the box were knob and tube. He very clearly and confidently said, "No." At the time, I had no idea what knob and tube looked like, but had heard it can be problematic to have in the house.

As it turns out, it was K&T. And now that I am more familiar with it, it was very obvious from looking at the box that it was K&T. David either did not know (which isn't really possible as he had accurately identified it in a previous situation) or he was too rushed to pay attention or plain opted not to tell me. Either way, I can't recommend him if such a critical error was made.

This could have been a very serious problem for me financially but more importantly for my health and safety. Luckily I figured it out before anything happened. This is why Home Inspectors need to be properly regulated.

Do NOT hire DASH Inspection Service

- DASH Inspection Services (North York, ON) was hired to do a pre-sale home inspection on our property.
- Throughout the entire inspection, the inspector seemed to be in a real rush, stating that he needed to be on time for their next appointment.
- 1.5 hours into the inspection they became frustrated and walked off on us, citing that we were asking too many questions and wasting their time. We were left speechless with their poor demeanor and lack of professionalism..
- Overall, they were rude and unprofessional. Avoid DASH Inspection Service at all costs!
- Do not be fooled by the RHI designation.

DO NOT HIRE!

David was hired to do a home inspection for our home and he wasn't able to answer ANY of my questions. Poked fun at me while I sat and read his contract, refused to answer any of my question surrounding the space and gave me a hard time for having concerns about a home we were about to buy.

Just overall, not a kind person. In the end we walked on the property because he didn't make us feel at ease about our concerns. Not flexible whatsoever, barked at me "if I kept asking questions he'd be here all day"

Condo Inspection Disaster

I thought he was a good inspector, but was very dissatisfied after moving in my condo and seeing the shower drain was not working. David was supposed to check it but he only had the water run for 10 seconds which did not show the shower drain was clogged!!! When I showered, the water was not draining after running the water for 30 seconds!!! I had to call a plumber and the problem cost me another $200 and a lot od stress and headaches!!! I was lucky because if the drain has more problems it could have cost me thousands of dollars!!!
When I spoke to David on the phone and asked me why he did not check the shower properly, he was VERY RUDE AND TOLD ME HE DOESN’t SHOWER ON HIS HOME INSPECTIONS AND TOLD ME I HAD AN ATTITUDE!!! In my opinion, he should not even be in this business or any business since he’s so rude to his customers!!!
